Since in the trailer people are fighting over a bottle of water I am interested in finding out what made lake michigan undrinkable because as a resident of chi myself i know that while downtown you are never more than a few blocks from the lakefront

That is a point, but there are things that could have happened... For instance, a rift caused by the earthquake could have dropped the water level low enough that it's no longer reachable, or flowed out to the ocean and is dried up. Or maybe something unleased by the earthquake (toxic waste dump, nuclear power facility, maybe even just a junkyard) has polluted the water.

What's more concerning to me is how people have been concentrating on the water as a major gameplay mechanic... I think they probably had that in the trailer just to show how desperate people are; that survival is "the name of the game" so to speak. I mean, obviously water will be necessary to the player's survival, but I don't think it'll be like a power-up or a CTF flag.

I agree with Wingf00t

However, I think water is part of this game, but the plot is to show how despert people can get and how much they are willing to do to survive. People in disaster can go absolutly insane or become a hero.

People can become monsters in a short amout of time. And Chicago isn't built to survive an earthqauke the devistation must me horrible. If the lakes arn't drained or cotaminated, then it might be just hard to get to seeing how the fallen city is just simply blocking the way.

I figure that the main sources of water in this game has either dried up, been polluted or something in between. I agree with Wingf00t for the most part but I wouldn't jump the gun about the water not being a power up. It wouldn't be the first time Ubi pulled something like that. I mean, look at the original Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time. That was the ONLY way to regain health. So it would be interesting if they brought that back in this game.

From what i know then water pays a big role in the game since some of the "Quests" in the game is based on water, maybe a guy who is dryed up and needs water. + another thing that may facinate people is that the eq was so big that it litterally ripped chicago out in the ocean so ofc people is desperate for it since resque may never come and water is running out. i mean what would u guys do!?
ps. im not sure if the ocean thing has been confirmed but i will check that out for u guys
