I noticed a hint from the trailer. I dont know if any1 else caught it. When hes on his phone before the disaster his call dies then the disaster happens i think it was something the author tried to hint us on. So maybe its not a monster?
The most probably reason why his phone died was because buildings were falling down... This means that the antena things used for cellphone probably were destroyed, plus no electricity since powerlines were probalbly messed up, as of for why the phone went before the area he was on was destroyed is probably because the caller antena being used was closer to ground zero (or wherever this thing originated)

Hmm, but why the cell phone did that loud and treble noise? Adam pulled it out from his ear instantly... I don't know any cell phone that do such a noise when the signal is cut down or lost, maybe if it is a crap of a cell phone hehehe... Bu still... Sounded like some sort of huge interference on the cell phone hardware, not in the signal... When a signal is cut down or lost, the cell phone normally just got mute...
Jorge has a valid theory and it is most likely the more probable one based on what little information about I am Alive we currently know, but I have another theory. Unfortunately, there are not many other ques seen in-trailer that could denote this, but I believe the event that caused Adam's Cell Phone to abruptly cut and squeal may have been due to an Electro-Magnetic Pulse, possibly set-off by a HANE, or High Altitude Nuclear Explosion. A HANE-induced EMP is doubtful due to a lack of a sudden burst of light indicative of nuclear detonations, and the fact that it could not conceivably cause an earthquake on the surface, however, there are other phenomena that can cause a wide-spread EMP.
Other indications that could point to an EMP Burst are that all cars are stopped in the trailer (if any were moving that is) and the traffic-lights are also off. This would indicate short-circuiting as caused by an EMP but could also be a result of a cut power transmission grid, as proposed by Jorge.
One odd issue however, is that the traffic lights shown in-trailer should immediately go to battery-power back-up as a fail-safe once the power is cut and flash red or yellow, but instead they are completely off, so there is at least something for support of an EMP, but this could always just be a minor detail missed by the trailer creators.
The issue it would seem here is how rooted in reality I am Alive is. From what has been seen in the trailer, I am Alive looks to be fully rooted in reality, which is reassuring since it limits the scope of speculation here, but again, the limited scope of the trailer leaves this question open to interpretation.
As it stands, we must first know how realistic (in terms of physical realism, not graphics) I am Alive will be before any speculation can be further refined.
I'd just like to Addy something real quick, I think i can somewhat disprove the EMP Theory (unless, as previously stated, it is an oversight by the creators), as previously stated an EMP kills electric devices, so it could possibly account for the phone, but it would also kill the car alarm that goes off when the earthquake rips through the parked cars.
Another thought is that when antennas are disconnected it is true that they just cease connection therefore the phone dies, however a tower being knocked over might still have power, this means it could cause distortion until the power is cut, thus the ringing sound could be the tower collapsing but still powered therefore causing signal distortion (this can be compared to when an Electric Guitar is unplugged from a Live AMP).
The magnetic poles are supposed to be switched around right?
That would mess up any reception.
If I'm not mistaken, a sudden change in magnetic plates beneath the Earths' crust would altar all things that use GPS. Wich cell phones do use when recieving service.

Not all traffic lights have back up power and if the control box was hit by a quake that it will not work.

You are mistaken.
GPS does not rely on magnetic north, and cell phones and cell towers do not rely on GPS nor any other satellites when processing local calls.
I've been in Chicago for two minor (but noticeable) earthquakes. A naturally occurring earthquake in the Chicago area would be the New Madrid fault. Perhaps the person calling was closer to the epicenter?
I might be wrong but to me it sounded like another person was calling Adam. This may sound weird but it sounded like his wife or girlfriend called him,all i could make out was... "Hey Baby, I..." But maybe thats just me...
hey im Scorch from the endwar forums and a refugee in the Hawx forums..so you guys have really been studieng I am alive...which looks cool from what ive seen..i love survival games...personally this maybe just me...but i think its got somethin either to do with aliens or a Nuke exploding underground which is weird...but still Nukes after they detonate i beileve some sort of EMp signal goes out and the Phone might just have made a strange sound when it detonated....or Aliens plane and simple...
