I know there seems to be a pretty unanimous decision that the game will take place in Chicago, and i don't doubt it myself, but in the trailer right when it cuts to Adam after showing the skyline and saying "six days earlier" at the bottom of the screen, is that not the Empire State building over his right shoulder??? This might have been brought up already but I didn't want to go through the entire forum to find out. I'm pretty confused, is there a building in Chicago that's similar to the empire state building? Confused

Alright, so now I'm utterly and totally confused, after a bit of searching I discovered that the building on the left in the scene just before it goes to the flashback (and right at the start of the flashback) seems to be the GE building which is in New York City, it is not exactly the same but extremely close, and the surrounding buildings are not the the buildings that actually surround the GE building. Google "GE building" to see what I mean. Also the Metros in the trailer look more like NYC metros than Chicago metros IMO. So, either the creators are totally trying to confuse the hell out of us, which they've accomplished, or, well idk what else there could be... an imaginary city?

We've got the 'game is set in Chicago', but that doesn't mean it won't start, end or take place sometime in any other city.
Don't have anything to answer your question though.
I wonder if Ubi will cancel this.

It is not New York, I know this because, the only city that has and "L" (elevated train) is Chicago. Trust me I lived in Chicago most of my life I recognize the city.

I am writing this not to disagree with you about the city setting, but Chicago is not the only city that has an Elevated Train system.

Not true at all. Many major cities have an elevated train. Chicago's is unique though in that our L is pretty much the only one that runs through the major downtown area surrounded on all sides by monstrous skyscrapers. It's why they filmed the L train fight scene in Spiderman 2 in Chicago's Loop.

Also the building in question is definitely not the Empire State. It's not tall enough.

Still researching trying to determine what building it isTyping, (assuming that Ubi is recreating the city streets in game) but as a Chicagoan I can say that based on the street lamps and the L, it's Chicago.

The only problem is that an earthquake of such magnitude should never happen in the midwest (as far as I know). There's no fault line big enough running near us. I could be wrong but it would have been more believable if it was a massive tornado. Whatever, we'll see. I can't wait.

Actually there is. There is the Wabash Valley Seismic Zone (the source of the 5.2 shaker last year). Granted, its towards the bottom of the state, but due to the geology of the area, if a massive quake went off down there, the shockwaves would reduce Chicago to rubble. And there is the New Madrid Seismic Zone a bit south of there, although thats more the terror of St Louis then Chicago.

It doesn't even matter. Previews have hinted at a 'mystery' reason for the earthquake. And Ubi has also stated that the reason of the earthquake WILL be revealed in the game. Now, they wouldn't possibly announce that if it was natural, would they? Wink

I don't suppose it's natural - the Richter scale is logarithmic, which means that a 10.3 magnitude earthquake will have an energy release about 45 million times more than a 5.2 one! And as the ' natural average expected' magnitude would be around 5.2(as you mentioned), a natural cause is highly unlikely.
