Hi, I was super hyped and super letdown by Far Cry 2 upon it's release, so much so that I haven't touched it in 10? months.

I put 70-80+ hours into a very detailed map that (not to toot my own horn) was going to be awesome. I didn't even get half way done when I noticed all the restrictions on it, such as physics objects and vehicles. I then did some research and found the console/PC combo crap where all platforms can download the same maps and therefore us more superior PC users have crazy restrictions on our maps. Those restrictions as you could imagine made me rage and not have anything to do with the game and not finish the map.

My buddy just installed the game again and said hey you should work on your map some more.
So I'd like to know if any of those restrictions have changed or are they still the same. I'm not going to even consider working on it anymore if the restrictions are still there. I was designing an assault map where the opposing team had to take over a strong point and it was a fair ways away so you needed vehicles, and the restrictions didn't give the opportunity to have enough vehicles for the map.

If anyone knows if the restrictions are there or not that would be great. Thanks.

Ohh edit here: Also the textures, wasn't it limited to 6 different textures throughout the ENTIRE map? That's another thing I'd like to know if it's changed or not.
Thanks.

I'm not sure where you did your "reasearch", but it's common knowledge that there is no cross-platform file sharing. PC users can only download maps made with the PC platform. And the PC platform has the least restrictions; there is no item points limit.

Besides, your map example would probably be a pretty poor one anyway considering vehicle play in FarCry 2 is very subpar. Even if you were able to place more than 6 vehicles, you wouldn't have anything remotely solid since everything with 4 wheels is a death trap.

Um you haven't seen the map and you have no idea what I'm saying obviously.
The vehicles are strictly for transportation, not for combat.
But given that nothing has changed, and Ubi screwed up royally on this game the map will go no further.

cut your coat according to your cloth. you can make 1000s of things if you get creative instead of complaing about it. my last map has tanks, mortars, FLAK air defence artillery etc. none of which is in editor

1st, look up CryEngine 3. Thats what you want.

Also, yes, we just have to be creative with what we do. There are 100,000 of thousands of maps out there and we still continue to make unique and fun maps to play. The map editor is easy to use, and limited, yes. But some cool things can still be done with it Smile

Things like this...and more

Like others are saying.
Ive learned to Love the FC2 editor and objects and pieces available in it.

The creativity possible is Amazing and You learn that over time using it.

There are a lot of veteran map makers that prove this all the time.If the community didn't die off and other great games were not available,,I would live on Fc2 alone.

I still keep wanting to go in the map maker.
It never gets old!
The only problem is I also want to play my maps and the community is very thin lately and only the most dedicated(There are still quite a few) get rewarded with full servers .
I usually only hop on on the weekends and I have not been pushing a dedicated server(getting my maps and friends maps out there) so when I get online Nobody joins my matches.

The diehards who run servers often don't have these issues the last I checked(360).

Anyways the Editor IS VERY capable of all kinds of visual and gameplay ideas.
You just have to learn it and it takes a LONG time to do this.
I do agree it would be nice if there were more objects(There could never be enough Smile )but IMO You should have checked to see if there were new objects(through the forums) before re-purchasing the game.

(360 maps)
Coming soon "MetroMethLabs" Grid-Map
"NORAD" Grid-Map
"BorderWAR"
"WMD's"
"NuclearWinter"
"NuclearWinterAssault"
"MarinePatrolX3"
"HellscrossingXXXCOTA"

Haha you guys keep saying things that have no relevance to my original question. I need more vehicles for transportation services, that's the biggest thing. I don't need to piece together random parts into buildings or have random tank skins that don't move. I need moving vehicles. So as far as I can tell, no one here is saying there is a way to get a higher limit on the vehicles so my 80+ hours of highly detailed map making is going to waste. If you've come to accept the FC2 map maker then you're a total tard and don't know what REAL gaming or PC gaming really is. If you accept it for what it is, all you are is a lame console gamer, nuff said.

Wow, you don't have to be a Douche.

You can only have six vehicles.

There are no item restrictions beyond vehicles on the PC

There is absolutely no cross platform map sharing.

The Editor is not an SDK so complaining about what it doesn't have is reTARDed.

Instead of attacking the people who were kind enough to come into your thread and answer the questions that you asked, why don't you try reading what they said.

Then go and disappear for another 10 months while the rest of us "Tards" play with our limited map editor.
