One really good trap that i found is get generaters and use 3d edit to but them below the surface till just the bars are showing. it works best inside. when you have like 5 of them layed down by each other shot one and all the other ones will blow up.and start to electocute the victim.

I made a map called failed existance, where on death you had a chance of spawning in a cage that had a small player boundry loop made that basicly sacrificed the player on spawn. The background story and the 'feel' of the map was fairly eerie but what i found was that ppl dont like to be killed by the map so be carefull how you place traps.
I seen one map (cant remember who's) that had the sharp poles/fence posts all over the place in an area so that when you died from falling the last thing you saw was falling on the spikes which was pretty cool.
Another thing to keep in mind is new players to a map may not realize how a trap may work, where as players who already have an advantage of knowing the map also know how to use the traps(similar to elevators, even now some ppl dont realize what they are when they see them).

Having said that heres some others i know of:

Floating cars etc. just high enough to walk under, even slightly touching them will cause the physics to kick in and crush the player.

Using the long propane cylinders to cause chain reaction explosions similar to the effect in the dark matter map just posted recently.TBH i had a ball with these when fc2 first came out, also used the same system to make multiple rocket batteries(watch 50-70 of these go off from a distance at night) and to simulate a long gas pipeline exploding at multiple points.

Using occlusion blocks to cover explosives so ppl cant see them when they're shooting.

Using explosive drums on the base of the Radio tower which falls over and can set of other drums etc(i was halfway through making a type of assault map using this to open a shortcut path) it can also crush you if it lands directly on you.

Using the multiplayer signs(ufll/apr posters etc) to cover a pit trap since you can fall through them.

cant think of anything else that is a guaranteed kill.Falling, crushing, exploding are the main ones that are 100% reliable.

I think tho i seen somewhere that the bug that enables the use of elevators can sometimes instakill a player because it thinks you fell a great distance, if this is true and able to be perfectly replicated it could make an interesting instakill chamber.

I was thinking of using the electrical floor in a map. could work well in ctd, the fastest path between the 2 bases would be an electrical floor.

I also used it to counter strong sniper positions in one of my maps. the sniper has to walk on the generator to get a good view, and the generator can be shot from outside the sniper spot. (just thought it made a change from sniper spots trapped with propane tanks)

Before the update, I discovered a way to create huge explosions. The method no longer works on the patch and creates a considerable frame rate drop but it is cool none the less.

If you place four cinder blocks around a small propane tank they will be stuck in place until the propane take explodes. Having four is key because as the propane tank spins it will be held in place by the cinder blocks. Obviously Adding more cinder blocks around the explosive will have better results.

You can also place cinderblocks inside of each other. When they become active they will force apart because of the way the collision system works. This creates a violent shrapnel effect, shooting away from the initial explosion. On the 360 you can have about 10 cinder blocks smashes into each other on all four sides (40 cinder blocks) before it gets too labor intensive. Imagine 40 cinderblocks shooting 50 feet in the air and landing in all directions. It is quiet impressive.

The trick is that each cinder block must be rotated a tiny bit so that the surface of the object can come in contact with the explosion. If you don’t do this they will just say there. Also, if they are raised above the ground it also has better result. The cinder blocks would fall through the ground if they were too close.

Now this might be old for some but when I discovered it I tired to find new cool ways to use this. I experimented with a doomsday map that had bigger explosions on the battlefield. Then I tried to fill up an empty room or area so the player could gain access to higher ledges. I also tried putting it into the center of a nuclear development site. But when I found its final place in a map I was naming ‘Nucleuside’ the patch released and the map was rendered obsolete.

I think PC users can still do this, and I am aware there are ways of tricking your consoles into allowing you to create maps it thinks are older so you can still have all those cool physic affected objects.

Whatever the case, I thought I would share. Cool

another good one is to group like 10 barrels inside each other. just touching one can make all of them explode.

if you use a bunch of gas pumps and place the under the ground until just the tops of them are showing. place them by each other and then shoot one and then all of the other ones will flare up. its more of a speciel effects thing then a trap.

lol fauch i only mentioned that one coz one map i seen had cars supposedly suspended by cranes. While playing a player tried to attach an IED to the bottom of one not knowing how the physics system reacts, everyone on teamspeak lol'd pretty hard at the sight.

One other thing to have fun with(not a trap tho) is get one of the small motor boats with a log supporting the front of it, then have a floating larger boat right above the very front part of the small boat.
Have the larger boat high enough to have enough time to use the small motor boat(get in to drive or mount the gun).
When the large boat hits the small boat it does a flip or two and gets some decent hang time as well.

Its a small thing but i get a laugh out of it every time

I thought about trying to sink explosive barrels with the tops slightly exposed. I wanted to try an create landmines, which would only work if they got hit obviously. However I decided it probably wouldn't work that well since most people aim for the head. Shady Not original, but I only have one map so i'm still a newb. Roll Eyes

360 FC2 Maps: Dogon Cliffs

New map in progress...

the problem with sinking explosives is you lose a lot of the damage effect. I think even though the whole thing explodes, it all radiates from the very center of the object so the terrain will block most of the damage.
