Meh Im on the fence in the map bug usage. One of my recent maps had a similar one; there was a way to get on top of the walls and run most of the map up there where no one was looking. I could have easily denied access to the area since they werent intended to be playable, and I thought I actually had blocked the only apparent way there.
Instead i just patched up 2 places where the players could fall in and get stuck. It had become a part of the map, and anyone who played it a couple times would know to be on the lookout in key areas anyway. I wil agree that when it can be potentially over powered I get annoyed when people use it, but I generally end up doing 1 or 2 updates for every map. Playtesting among the masses is the only way to find all the neat little unintended things |

Or it was just a neutral comment with no negative intentions whatsoever? Get a grip. At least now people know it's there. If you guys choose not to make a better player area border, then people will know others can access those spots. Calling it cheating is just childish, knock it off.
I'd definitely suggest leaving it in. There's some danger in running up the reservoirs with the potential to suicide. A lot of people like that sort of thing, being able to access "super secret sniping spots" that aren't way out of the way. Besides, the specific path to the top is easily seen by the silhouette of players against the bright sky which is a dead giveaway. |

did the bad comments concern all your maps? I thought it was mainly about defensive measure being ranked despite having bad perfs, no? those who say your maps have bad gameplay, have yet to make a map as good as yours. not only your maps have good gameplay, but they also play differently from the mass (at least most of them) |

We'll have to fix that over site. That area of was done last but will be fixed soon (it's accessible on both sides of map)
@ Fauch - Thanks, I am glad you like my work. I have had half a dozen comments in the last few months about having a reputation for laggy maps and that I don't build maps for game play and only care about looks, which is a joke. I have played all my maps in various rooms with no lag with the exception of DEFENSIVE MEASURES. If the host has a bad connection and his hosting more people then he should any map will be laggy and if someone in the room has a poor connection they can also drag down the room. Unfortunately some people look in the editor and make assumptions without playing. There also people out there who are more then happy to point out any frame rate problems in my maps but totally ignore the same or worse in their friend's or their own maps, don't ask me why. As far as game play, it is for most in my mind when making maps and helping others out. example: Amori Lambo M4tt's Urban Combat would have never had the side route past the fountain if I wouldn't have ragged on him about the game play and insisted on the addition. Good game play, in my mind, is about the simplest thing to archive. Multiple interconnecting routes (but not so many that it confusing or you can't find anybody), equal vantage points for both teams, one or more open areas with plenty of cover and alternate routes to avoid snipers. It's not rocket science and you don't need to read a book to figure it out. You just have to play games, observe how people move (real life and /or in game) and imagine playing through it as you make it (offensively and defensively). Some people just like to spread/post nasty rumores/off the cuff unsubstantiated comments to build their self esteem and promote themselves. I chalk it up to poor self esteem and/or jealousy. Pretty pathetic. |

Can you two fellate each other in private, please?

Ok, The Black Gold has been updated. Changes include: moved the play zone closer to the play area and Some adjustments with the terrain so there will be no Cheap kills for anyone looking to CHEAT.

I remember playing this during one of the crazy thursdays. I liked it, but somebody had managed to get up top of the pyramid looking structure. I wasn't able to figure out how.

WTF Skorpius, are really actually threatened by someone giving me a compliment? Are you 9 years old or what?
Didn't you say you were avoiding my maps and threads yet here you are, making personal attacks non the less, a man of his word. Thanks yet again for turning another one of my map threads into an attack/drama. Grow up. @ stuntmanyako. There will always be some little kid finding a way to cheat/get a cheap kill, it really shows their true colors. It has been fixed (see post above by FlyNChimpmunks) |

Says the guy who can't get over a damn thing and gets red-faced over the slightest joking comment? Drop the egg shells and chill out, man. I don't think you'll ever lighten up until I post nothing but "Great map, 5/5!" like everyone else who fears your wall-o-text attacks. I mean, Jesus H Christ, dude. You spent like 30 minutes typing up that whole expose in response to that compliment, using it as a soap box to rant off about those that don't agree with you. What a **** move on your part. Does it help if I say that I actually kind of liked playing the mapwhen I did? It'd be nice if it was remade using different techniques, though. I thought we were all done with concrete blocks, colonial fencing, pole railings, and jungle collections. stuntmanyako, that was probably me since I played the map during CUD's host. Ah, hahaha, I just read that whole thing you typed out. You basically are saying that your maps are fine, and anyone who dislikes them is either jealous, has it out for you, or doesn't know what they're talking about. You just can't accept the fact that maybe some of your maps aren't God's gift to FarCry 2 and that maybe some people know what they're talking about? What's also kind of buggy is that you claim people (read: SKORPIUS47) make judgments about your maps in the editor alone, but then you cry out DOWNVOTING CONSPIRICY if they (read: ME) play on them at all. What gives? This circular logic trap you've built up as a defense is retarded. And your unprovoked attacks in that last bit which were obviously in reference to those you aren't friendly with are just absurd, especially since you cried victim when I jumped in with an obviously unwitty joking comment about oral sex on an internet message board. How ****ing dare you, dude. How can you feel like you're in the right after that rant of yours, obviously direct at myself and those I talk to, and then turn around as the victim when I make a joke? Get a grip. You're just like everyone else here, High Horse Rider; you make good stuff, you make bad stuff. People like it, or they don't. Stop getting all butt-****ing-hurt when someone mentions they dislike something you're involved with or points out issues with it that could be improved. Why is it so hard for you to just act normal for a change and accept that maybe some people may have better insight? And, to everyone else, I'm posting this here because Mikk Q outright refuses to settle this ridiculous issue with me in private. I've tried quite a few times to talk it out and nothing was ever sent in response. I used to think this guy was cool until he flat out went bonkers because I made two non-GREATMAP5/5 comments about his maps months and months ago. |

Jesus Christ! can't you two just f$%&in drop it already?
no one is impressed or amused by the continuing battle. If either of you says something negative about each others map or points out something that could maybe be improved, instead of jumping in fingers first on your keyboard, why don't you go check what they are talking about to see if maybe there is a little merit to what they are saying. Hell even FLYNChipmunks saw that and obviously fixed the issue. Now regarding the map. I cannot find my FC2 disc because I have been moving and it is in a box somewhere so I have not downloaded this one yet. But based on the pictures shown, I think the map looks really good with some good potential for serious action. I know that the MOTM discussions at fcmaps have put this map on the consideration list for next month, along with a few other really solid maps, so good luck. I think you guys have done a good job of maintaining your distinct styles while making them blend together to create a cohesive whole. Similar to what me, Dave and the others did with Ciriculus Alliance. I will post some other thoughts after I actually get to DL and play the map. you guys should do another project together. |

First of all its ridiculous that everyone here whose saying something ...ALL RODE IN on a "HIGH HORSE". How can you even say anything about other people, and say things like you dont think your above everyone, but then majority of the time you carry this air of arrogance around you. The reason this fued has lasted because everyones so bull-headed , noone can be as BIG as they think they are and move on. And secondly who decides what is appropriate to use in a map. "Oh urban ground is cheating, you cant use fences, no concrete." If its in the editor, use what you have. Then to regulate map item usage when you too use the same things and techniques. And then how about since we are past using concrete blocks and fences we should be past call of duty style maps too.
Also, its ridiculous to think that my maps have been published as long as they have and people on my friends list havent even seen them until now. But everytime they alert me of newly published maps, or even if they dont i still periodically check to see if anyone has anything new out.So all of you need to step down off that high horse. Then I always hear everyone talking about how they playtest their maps and get feedback, but everytime I invite those people to help do the same they never show, but yet I find myself joining their rooms often. High Horse? |
