Oil Arsenic - United States Patent 6117333 process which involves removing hydrocarbons, arsenic and mercury from wastewater produced in oil and gas fields. An oxidant, ferric ions, and flocculent are sequentially added to the wastewater to form a removable sludge containing the arsenic, hydrocarbon, and mercury contaminants. The Oxidation-Reduction Potential of the wastewater is controlled by oxidant addition to allow the required arsenic oxidation to occur while maintaining the mercury in elemental form. The process requires relatively short residence times between chemical additions and provides for large wastewater throughputs. The cleaned wastewater is suitable for discharge to the environment.
Now I am sure that made sense to someone but after it was finished we ideally needed three things, Oil, Water, and Power Plant. The name PG&E just felt inappropriate. We toyed with a number of other names like 'Iron Fist' and 'Derrick Tesla' but eventually settled on the name O i l A r s e n i c (without the spaces) which coincidentally meant - Removal of hydrocarbons, mercury and arsenic from oil-field produced water. Bingo! If I may rewind a bit and start from the beginning, EROCK and I decided to make a collaborative map after playing together in matches and with friends a number of times the prior month. He showed me a map where he had taken out all the objects he wanted for a map’s theme. There wasn’t much to it. The ground was red, the sandbags were red and yellow, sheet metal everywhere, and it felt like a Mad Max desert painted with deep rich clay color. It had a very unique feel, something like no map either of us had ever seen. We decided to run with the idea at first. High noon on another planet. We settled on a Mars Map and the next morning I sat down and played with the terrain tools to see if it was possible to create something interesting and realistic but foreign. After the terrain was realized it gave everyone a place to start. We began pulling away from space and settling back on Earth. EROCK loved it and began creating tons of custom structures that we would continually go through, changed and chopped. It was a time for experiments. Sizes, openings, number of floors, roof styles, all changed through the course of a complete metamorphosis. The end result of course you can see in the map, but for us, a beautiful butterfly. (that sounded horrible but I was thinking more Mothera then Monarch because it sounds tough) Coincidentally, after working with iNF3C71ON on [360] REVOLVER REVOLU71ON,I remembered him saying he wanted to create a map with an Oil Field. This map looked great but there was missing something so with EROCK’s permission iNF3C71ON climbed on board. After iNF3C71ON built the first Oil Derrick, we all knew immediately that we had something great. But what to do with the rest of the map? Soon the ideas started flowing. EROCK loves CTD and I TD so we continued to mix the storm of ideas. We all agreed on one thing. Speed! The level must play quickly. I wanted to embrace the limitations of the Editor instead of using them as an excuse after the fact. We cut the processor dragging fat early and ran with what worked so the level could live up to its potential. It was hilarious parking all six vehicles in the center of the map on top of an IED in the rain while flame throwers and missiles all went off, detonating everything simultaneously. No lag? Great! Lets add more stuff... The next couple days we would pass the map off so that there was as much mapping coverage as possible. We even would have one person in the map and the other two walking around ingame while we were all in a xboxLIVE party. I placed most of the objects and buildings loosely around the map and worked on the terrain, EROCK would build the custom buildings for me to replace the stand in buildings with, and iNF3C71ON would add details that defined the areas or rebuild things to make them look better. After each day we would invite our tester friends to give us their input on the progress. We all listened to everyone’s opinion and try and improve the designs and ideas each time we got the map without completely undoing what the others had done. Normally I would say 3 mappers is excessive but for us it worked out very well. We complement each others strengths and weaknesses. We didn’t always see eye to eye but we made compromises as individuals so that the sum of our labors could be greater then its parts. I for example wanted the level to be even bigger, I am so glad they talked me out of that one. We stayed United by the idea of making the best map we could and were open about what we thought did and didn’t work. Less then a week from the initial conversation and the map was ready to play for a select few experts that could give us serious feedback on what they hated. After more Salt then the Lake City flats we went back to the drawing board. When it was time for release again, we all gave it one last look and agreed, Winner! Thank you guys... This map reminds me of Frontlines: Fuel of War a bit. That game was okay. Completely different game to this one. This map is great none the less.

It's so creative. The attention to detail is inspiring. I found a hidden skull. Heading away from the APR base, I think, I went along the right hand side of the map, and came across some large rocks that eventually built a large ramp/ledge, leading to some nice sniping spots and so on. I found a skull down beneath that ramp-rock
But that nice cliff side section with the rocks was really nice and was a clever little route to the other base too. And after reading INF3C71ON's post, I did actually feel really thirsty which was super wierd, but it's true. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ http://ell635-gaming.blogspot.com/ |

Great! There are three easy skulls to find and that is one of them. Keep your eyes open and let me know how many you discover. I challenge you to try and find at least 6. It makes my head hurt too! I pulled that first paragraph from google and made fun of it in the second.
What a complement, we are all greatfully humbled and appreciate your support! What was your favorite area of the map? Also, is there a moment in the match you played that stands out as the most memorable for you? Well the battle field was littered heavily with snipers both 50 cal's and AR16's. I did not snipe, I kept moving and pushing towards the enemy's sample. So I think at this point all I can say about the buildings is that the sample buildings are F*@$#&* awesome and balanced out nice. I can easily get in and grab the diamond then jump out and drive away with bullets dramatically whizzing by my head and my middle finger sticking out the window!!! LOL

That is an awesome story!
A tactic that I find useful when there are a lot of snipers prowling is sneaking to one of the vehicles in the middle of the map (power plant or derrick). Take it out to the Barren Wasteland away from the Mountain and unload on the map. Those two jeeps are equipped with some serious firepower that rattle the ground making it a bit more challenging for those trigger happy killers perched on the roof tops, mountain side, or silos. I love stirring up the battle from out there and watching the snipers fumble like babies with their compromised rattle scopes. Also there are two tough areas to charge through that diamond delivers should be aware of. That last adrenaline filled stretch is tough, even with a hot pair of tennis shoes and more juke then a football reciever. The bridge on the APR side and the road splitting rocks on the UFLL side are great places for IEDs. If you are in hot pursuit and the returnee makes it in their base behind cover, take full advantage of the exploding propane tank in the middle of their fortress. Its like the base’s soul is begging for a bullet through those big brown windows. With the right timing it can be a game saver. Glad you loved it! I loved shooting out the propane tank as I was entering the base, the ammunition crate stated, and anybody covering the Diamond or camping in the Bunker at the front of the base was a goner.
I got spawn killed by some guy who thought it clever to sit at the top of our Watch Tower in our base. He sniped us as we made our way out the base. But as one would assume, I didnt ignore him like the rest of your team seems to do, I sniped him! _______________________________________________________________________________________________ http://ell635-gaming.blogspot.com/ |
