Here is a peek at what will one day be my balanced 'Doomsday' map. I am still working through some of the strageties on paper but should be scouting for big gun mappers to help me get this idea to fruition very soon.

You really opened your wife up with that statement... Co-op maps are important to me because I am a strong believer in the idea of accomplishing goals and making dreams come true. If I am able to create something without the help of others, I often feel like I am not dreaming big enough. When I was growing up and heard the usual 'You can't do that' or 'That is impossible’ or ‘Just give up now' responses to what I considered great ideas, I always responded with, 'Tell me how you can help me reach my improbable goal instead of why the odds are stacked against me.' Although I wouldn’t suggest that everyone adopt the, what can you do for me, mentality. Believing in myself and not willing to give up has taken me much further then I could have ever done alone. So, I have an idea (again), a Doomsday Map and not unlike many Normandy Beach Invasions. This time it is going to be different because something I disliked about this type of scenario is the lack of fairness. My challenge is to create a Doomsday Map that can be balanced. Something as Epic as storming the shores of the English Channel in that week after June 6,1944. But this time with a new neokinesis meets FarCry2 flare. Since, I have a very good idea of how I want this map to look and play, let me start there with influence from the community about what it means to play one of these maps. (That means tell me what you'ld like me to include) I want to keep the feeling of overwhelming odds, battle driven combat, and trench warfare. But what else does it mean to play one of these maps? How do I give either side a sense of achievement when winning on my map? How do I make it really hard, really engaging, and a blessing to play? The big guns I need right now, can come in the form of brain power discussing how to accomplish those questions. Let me get some structures out in the Editor over the next week and see how much hands on, I really need. Once, most of it is fleshed out I will post here again looking for people with editor expertise to help me detail and fine tune the strategy of aesthetics. Whatever you do, just make sure it doesn't like the 10 million other D day maps. That's all I got.

There is a certain amount of character I feel I should include so that the map can be recognized as a Doomsday or Assault map right off the bat. But don't worry about that too much because I have already come up with feezable solution that could provide this makeover with much more substance. Since it has been a long time coming, I have been practicing a couple of key things in my previous three maps to prepare me for what I would like to include, in this go. OK. since this is an Assault map, but you do not want to do Normandy, I would think about maybe doing a sci-fi style base which is being attacked by some outside source. Give yourself plenty of pathways to attack/defend.
OR... Maybe do a crashed spaceship with two rival factions trying to take control of it. It could play like Assault for CTD and King of the Hill in Uprising. Depending of course on how you place the spawn points. Anyway, thats my two cents. |

Much much closer. It will have a Sci-fi theme. I am going to make it the sky cliff temple/fortress (orange and red materials)VS. the docked galactic destroyer transport spaceship(white and gray materials). I want for there to be a nice contrast between each side in terms of hue, saturation, brightness, and texture.
