I suggest turning your TV on its side. This will make the objects spawn in the correct orientation. (kidding of course! )

On the 360, this happens from rotating and placing certain objects. Posters that snap to surfaces if rotated and placed on objects with angled surfaces (rocks) will cause this rotation. The only way to fix it is to exit to the dashboard and reload the game. You can however save before leaving and it should be ok.

Neokinesis is correct. The issue happens with objects that snap to surfaces, like posters and signs.
When you rotate an object in the Place Objects tool, the new orientation becomes to new standard for all other objects. Because these special items snap to surfaces, they cause extremely odd orientations and make all other objects look bizarre.
Just save your map and exit the editor entirely to fix the problem.

Some times this can be fixed by placing a tree and rotating it but you will usualy have to save and exit map. You may even have to open another map for it to fully reset. If it still does not reset, exit game or turn xbox off and restart. As long as you save you won't lose anything. Good Luck

You could also cleaverly use objects that snap together. If you have a normal-oriented object in place, you can begin to place another snapping object down, getting it close enough to snap into place, and then try to slightly move it to reset the default orientation. Make sure you don't actually move out of snap or it won't work.
