For which console?

On 360, maps are looked at for competitive qualities. They need to be well balanced, designed to allow players a wide variety of strategy, and must also not get boring after 2-3 plays. There's also a testing process, where the Ranked community becomes involved and helps pick and choose which maps become candidates.

However, as of this time, there is an internal issue with the support team that is being resolved right now. Maps aren't being uploaded for the Approved for Ranked list just yet, but the next update will be better than the first.
