Workhorse Chronicles
This is my series of maps based off of a loggin theme throughout the African Jungle. It is intertwining with my other map series named Aqua Dementia. Enjoy! Video Link: http://www.vimeo.com/4842797 Workhorse II "You can't build a settlement without timber" "Workhorse" that's what they called it. Of course, this was only a nickname, to many letters, and numbers to remember... nicknames were easier." "Thirty years ago, this was the place. We had a river, timber, and a will. We were sheltered away from the war, here to do our own buisiness in the remote jungles of this land.' Quoted from one of the Managers "The timber trade was good, we were making a great profit. Building homes for the people, and shipping off any extra lumber to Canada, for further marketing with other countries. Yes, nobody knew about it, but we were playing it under the table, we were exploiting the people, and claiming that we were doing good. Who really cared about building homes for the people here? No us, clearly, and nobody knew, it was the perfect lie." Quoted from the Head Project Manager. "Yep, I left home, all for the work. They said they needed lumberjacks, and I am one of the bast. Its in my blood, generation through generation, we have been lumberjacks. Dangerous job, but I don't see it as being as bad as the projects back home. Armed escorts scare me, but what the hell? We have protection, we should be fine." Quoted from a Worker on the Workhorse project. "That one fateful day, a yellow convoy. The came in, dust trails following them. Trucks with mounted weapons, trucks filled with men wanting bloodshed, and money. I lost my hand that day (scratching the stub of his wrist)... Now what am I to do? Living in this land... a man missing a hand is no good to anyone. He is worthless, might as well be dead." Quoted from a Local man, who volunteered to help with the project. "We had a deal with the APR, we cleared out a small section on our plot of land, gave it to them... They would gard us, we gave them 10% percent of the profits. Where does that leave us now?" Quoted from one of the foremen at job site. "We abandoned the site, left it to the factions, left all of our work there. Half of us almost died there. The factions took over, and continue to war over it to this day. Yes, there were breif times of peace where they formed colitions, but stupid arguments always refueled the conflict. The whole battle of Slickleg restarted it once again. Gotta love that Rivalry." Quoted from Mercenary who was hired for Security duties at Workhorse project. Ok, so I rewrote the story. Redid the map. And, here you go. This is my latest map Workhorse II, great step up from the original. I have redesigned the map from the ground up. The mill itself was built from scratch. Nothing, and I mean nothing has been copied from any other map of mine. I built everything from the ground up, brush by brush. Painstaking, but I believe it helps me to conserve brushes by rebuilding certain aspects of my maps. Played a game at Gov's TGIW server(Hi Govener!), we were outnumbered, and outclassed.... but we had a blast. It was true fun. Not to brag, but the map has less than 50 Downloads, and it has Four stars. That is a first for me, and I believe it should be a great map, a true keeper in anyones books.... except... maybe if you dislike foliage that is. Though unlike my previous Sawmill maps in the series, there is more of a break from the foliage. So, I hope you guys enjoy my map, and have fun. Have a great day guys. Slickleg "You can't build a settlement without timber" "Thirty years ago... This was the place. I left my wife for two months at a time, just to work here. Within five years, there was nothing left but tree stumps. Though, a fateful day changed it all. That was the day when I lost my left hand, it will remain a faint reminder to that horrendous day." Quote from a Lumberjack. Twenty-five years back there was a civil war. This war was based on money, corruption, and diamonds. "So, Why did they attack us? I still ask myself that every time I think back to it. Of course I know the answer to why the APR attacked us. It was the timber. That's what they wanted. They wanted to be the good guys in the conflict, to be the people's choice." Quote from Project Manager. "The Timber was a source of greed, corruption. The timber caused much bloodshed, too many innocent people died, including my father. I was thirteen at the time" Quote from A local villager. This conflict was based on securing major resources, as well as gaining a good impression with the public. Though with this conflict dying after the UN settled the differences, and appointed a Governor. The camp was abandoned, as was the logging industry, after destroying the land. "I'd say about ten years back, the river overflowed due to heavy rainfall and it created the marshes. The floods were terrible! They caused many bridges to become washed out, and many riverside villages were lost." Quote from Elder of local village. This river blocked access to the logging camp. Only access to the forbidden place is by boat, or by a plane. Planes are hard enough to find, especially one outfitted to make water landings. About a few months back gunfire was reportedly heard at the camp. The APR, and UFLL were trying to reclaim the camp. It is said that the APR won the fight, though nobody is entirely sure. Rumors claim there to be a coalition with the two, though only within the camp. Though fighting further downriver at the facility named "Workhorse" caused the truce to be broken. "We made the deal with them, they broke it. They are greedy men, never have I seen men so much like them. They kill us, and we fight for our lives. We hoped we could fix this, these are truly troubling times." Quote from APR soldier. During the time the camp was attacked a civil war was ignited. This war caused much trouble throughout the war torn nation. "It is the APR's fault, they caused this. They put us to blame. They say that we killed their leader. It was not of our doing. We all know it was the Jackal, the man who started this whole conflict. you can barely drive without being shot at at nearly every guard post by their gorillas. It is complete chaos." Quote from UFLL representative. "Constantly gunfire is heard from this camp. It is unbearable. We can barely get cameras in. We managed to get a photographer into the camp, all that we received was his camera." Quote from World News Reporter The source of the conflict is now unknown. It is said to be for the facility itself, which is what it seems. Though many claim that the facility has many untold secrets of diamonds, and gold. Ok, I am done with that story. Hope you enjoyed it. This is my newest map, Slickleg. It is the sequel to Workhorse, if you wish to put it that way. The map is a fishing village based camp, which used to be alongside a small river, now turned into a large swampland. The map will be confusing to some, considering that it is a large water covered map. Though I put in certain identifiable structures, and detail so you can let your buddies know where you are. Once again I tried to go for more of a natural look, which many say I am good at using. So, I hope you enjoyed my map, and story. Moonshine "Moonshine, hahaha. Yeah, we called it that. True name was Zone 9/20//39/77. Though, we also had other plans, and that's how we named it. We had our little moonshine still. Not much, but enough to keep us Loggers lively." Quoted Log Truck Driver. "The zone was situated near Slickleg, that swamp camp. Just on the outskirts of the lake... in another marshy spot. Nice spot too, sheltered... not even the boss knows about our secret buisiness... Ha we even cut a deal with the APR... They help us, and we give them alcohol." Quoted from a Lumberjack. "Yes, they turned us into a bunch of drunks, as bad as it sounds... and I feel that's what caused it. After celebrating our recent Victory against the APR, we decided to liven up a bit... and... well, we were drunk off our asses, and the UFLL crept in under our noses." Quoted from an APR soldier. "Hahaha Drunks, gotta love them, they are so easy to pass by. APR thought we were one of them...." Quoted from UFLL leader "What are we to do? Retalliate? I guess we gotta force them out, what else are we going to do, this is our deal... We already pushed them out... and stopped project 'Watchfire'... what's one more victory gonna change?" Quoted from APR head. So this is is Moonshine, and it is a bit 'happier' in name. Hahah, Fun to play, kinda bottlenecks. Anyway, feel free to download it. |

Great series, and they have an interesting story to go with them. I love the atmosphere these maps offer. Moonshine is one of my current favorite maps, I think it offers the best gameplay out of the three. Workhorse II has a bit of a lag issue right now, but I heard a new version may be rising over the horizon...
Oh and uh... Cool video |

Thanks for the comments guys, I worked really hard in these, and my friends say I am not allowed to make any more jungle maps... Cause they got lost in the foliage... Hahaha. So, I drove myself nuts trying to fix the lag problem on Workhorse II... And well. I figured out where it's coming from... But sadly I had to give up in fixing it. Well at least the lag isn't too bad, it's still a fun map at the most.

...I finally officially gave up on fixing Workhorse II... Though I began to work in another map series... Twin maps are complete, and there is one left. Series is based off of harvesting water, and a planned genocide.

Workhorse II is pretty good, I tried to get a full game but all I had was four people last night. I'm not entirely sure how well it will play once I get a full room. I do know that the center building has frame rate issues, but the construction is cool. Oh, and I'm stealing your TV and I'm going to pawn it off in a map I'm making.

I recently re watched the Video Mis7apapz made for my maps again, and I declare that he is a great video maker. I suggest he gets some sort of film maker award in the FC2 community, hahaha.
