ok, everyone wants some sort of community thing going on. so, im going to host a map contest. post any entries in this thread. the map can be any size or style.

the judging is going to be done by the players in a democratic way to choose the winner. the contest will take place at say 6pm on saturday 5th of september. thats a week from now, so plenty of time to get prepared. everyone will have equal say on judgement.

its up to the map making community ourselves to keep this game and the community alive, so if you dont enter, then you are pretty much slamming the door on all future hope for mp in far cry 2. so just think about that, huh. so bottom line here, enter!

I guess I can participate with the map I'm making, since one week is somewhat short.

excellent. it looks very enjoyable. its definatley on the list if you want to enter it. also i chose 1 week only to really kick start everyone into action.

most people already have maps that they are currently working on, or if they dont, it means that they will be motivated to come up with some ideas pretty quickly, to win the competition and be the best. i personally am going to start a new map from today just to enter with. also its just a really good chance for everyone to be able to have fun together

also im thinking of changing to time to more like 8pm, but we'll have a vote on that nearer the day

Look mate, you propositions doesnt say much so maybe thats why nobody want to enter.
First - you dont say, if we can make entry with maps, whose are made in the past, or if you try to host contest for maps whose are made during that week... If that is second option, I wouldnt want to make entry (beside of lack off all others propositions...), because I use to enjoy mapping and one map cost me usually 3 weeks or so one...

well its a pretty relaxed setup as you can probably tell. you can definatly enter a map made in the past. its just a fun little competition featuring as many maps as people want to enter. everyone will get a chance to vote. but it would be nice to have some support really. if you would enter if something was done in a certain way, then i would do it, if it meant that people would enter. anyone can make suggestions etc.

Ill try and get my new map finished by the 5th, if i can ill enter it no probs. But only a few maps in the comp isnt that good where are the rest of u guys. whats the problem in entering your map in a friendly competition.

Ok mate. I appreciate that someone try to do some, even its not set it up as it should be, but OK, because I dont work on some new map atm, I going to put my last map Omega to the competion.

No, seriously, lets show some nice work guys. Who knows how many times we would get a chance to have some easy&fun competion

excellent im very glad that your in. your map really does look amazing, so its pretty much going to blow anything i've got out of the water looks like im going to have to up my game

also just to let everyone know, the prize is going to be knowing that you are the winner. unfortunatly i dont really have anything better to offer

As for the rules, like i said before, im pretty flexible. i think that it should just be one big rotation of all the maps, with everyone voting for a score on the map afterwards. and then just see who the winner is.

but really though, i've never held a competition before, so if anyone has any kind of suggestions as to scoring methods or rules or anything else, then please let me know.

At the moment though, im quite flexible. that also goes for times and dates. im thinking saturday at 7pm gmt. but if everyone wants, it could even be sunday or whatever. also im in the uk and theres daylight savings, so we'll have to work out a time thats good for everyone

Im fine with 7pm on Saturday, im in a bit of a confusion, ive got 2 maps in about the same stage of construction about 85%, but im not really sure which one to finish off for the comp. Ill leave to sneak preview pics of the 2 maps.
