As I discussed with CUD the other day, "I would be flattered" if somebody were to republish my map.
But... That is only if they improve or tweak what is already there, if they destroy half the thing and undoubtedly make it worse, well, then your asking for it! I have considerd signing my work with SoS somewhere not visible, Hidden in terrain or under a building. That way If found by someone who knows your tag finds it the word can be spread and the nameing and shameing can begin. Not that it matters to much to me as I don't think anyone will be steeling my maps published so far.
My next map however is definatly my best work so far should be finished in a couple of days. |

So are YOU saying there's some way to remove the original creator's name from a map? I asked Kev and he didn't answer. Both of you guys have implied there is. Thx. I would never do this or rip someone else's map, I'm just very curious about what you guys are saying. |

I disseced the map format a while ago, and if you take a look at the raw binary of a map file, there's the name of the original creator in plaintext. It's not as simple as just taking a hex editor to edit it tho, bbut I bet it's perfectly doable to change it if you know the map format.
(And before anyone asks: I won't discuss the details of the map format here to encourage anyone to change the original creator's name.) |

[For Consoles or xbox 360]The map should always preserve original author and then track who it was last revised by, even if the revisor uses a completely new file name. One issue I noticed, When trying to search for custom maps on server-the full name of the map does not appear in the search results screen-ubi should fix that and also make the map name display in the multiplayer lobby. Yet if it's not broke don't fix it, we all saw what happened when the last update came online.... Yet, Eventually they worked out all the kinks and the multiplayer is better now (love the full level up option access to all guns).
