Ok, some dude tried giving me attitude about how this thread wouldnt work, so lets try it out. Here are some simple rules:
1. Do NOT recommend your own map. 2. Do NOT recommend maps already on the list or have been on the list. 3. Do NOT recommend a friends map just because he is your friend and he can recommend yours. 4. Do NOT recommend maps you have not played. Even running around alone counts. Just dont judge on a picture, download count, play count etc. PLAY THE MAP 1st!! 5. DO be honest. We will know if you are making a skewed recommendation after WE check it out. 6. PLEASE DO NOT BASH SOMEONES MAP HERE. Find another place. This is a nice thread designed to recognize people's maps that may have gotten overlooked. If you have an issue with the map, please post it elsewhere. 7. Be lenient if someone accidentally posts a map that has been on the list in the past. Please dont expect everyone to know every map that has been recognized in that way. 8. Please include the creator and platform. 9. Have fun! This thread is meant to get people's maps out that may have fallen back on the thread list and gotten overlooked or outshined by exceptional maps. The maps posted here do not have to be super mega awesome(lol), though if they are not on the list, they are welcome. Good looks, good play and good balancing will be enough. I started this thread knowing my maps most likely wont get posted by others, because I have 2 old 007 maps which got little attention. Also, my pride and joy is already on the list. Also: Is it wrong of me to ask that people posting works-in-progress to maybe wait until at least a beta is available to test? Posting threads on maps that are not even on the server yet knocks those dowm on the list who have finished their map and want to put it out there. I dont think this is quite fair, its like cutting someone in line. |

I'd highly recommend ENFADEL's Dismalland and CaidKilla's Overheated. Both are really good maps for Capture the Diamond and I'd like to see more people enjoy them.

I dont agree with rule No 2.:
Do NOT recommend maps already on the list or have been on the list. There a lots of maps, but not all of them have really excellent gameplay, so if someone really like maps whose are on the list, then why do not "refresh" recommendation by those who really play it ? Also - if you want keep this rule, you must go throught whole list to make sure maps is not there. You agree? So my recommendation is: Hotel California by deftoneradio Monkebay FC1 remake by Tuleby Block by nick1974nick Dogon Leg by RyzukiSenshi Platform PC. All of them is on our server rotation, after lots of "testing" and we found that those maps are really some of the best. |

I would like to recommend Starwars Echo Base by DEATH WEAPONxx (360) Here is a picture of his Millenium Falcon in the map.

The entire point of this thread is to recognize maps that have not yet been recognized. Obviously, I cant stop anyone who really feels the need to post an already recognized map. But thats kind of pointless isnt it? Those maps already have a list. I can, however, kind of agree on whether or not you need to read the whole list. Its just so big, a lot of people wont actually go and study all of the recommended maps. I didnt do it, I just went back 3 lists. Thanks for participating! That star wars map looked REALLY cool. Playing FC2 around the millenium falcon is just sweet. I have also seen some of the other ones mentioned played, but have not joined yet. I will jump on the server later today. |

Sorry but the Ubi Recommended list should be recommended by the people associated with the Map Editor (those that put it together)
I remember on Far Cry Predator Ubisoft used to actually pop into games and if they liked the level they would then host it on their servers. There have also been some horrific choices on the Ubi Recommended list - which IMO should be a showcase for some of the best possible levels around, It is good what you are doing and I hope you get some consistency in getting ONLY quality maps on that list. But for me the Ubi List should be backed up with a brief passage of text saying what Ubisoft liked about the map - has anyone ever seen any Ubisoft Players in a game on FC2? Keep up the good work Agent00Kevin - if people are honest and spend time on these maps before entering the map name - then the list you are compiling should be a list worthy of been on everyones HD. |

You assume that Ubisoft has someone whose task it is to browse through countless maps, pick out the best ones, and then write up a review for those maps. I think it's one of those things that sounded good on paper when Ubisoft was developing this game, but when it came down to it, it just didn't happen the way they envisioned it. Just like the whole thing about lifting the publishing limit for people who make a lot of really good maps. The Ubi Recommended List is alright, but there's no substitute for peer reviews. That's why sites like fcmaps, farcry2mapmakers, genesis device, etc are so valuable to the community. And it's also why a thread like THIS one is a good thing to have. |

Producer LP Pharand on Far Cry 2
Interview I understand Brim - people have to list what are the decent maps as there is no way even if Ubisoft did have a team in place to check maps - they would never get through them all. But for them to list maps recommended by them - for me that says They Have Recommended Them. Not that someone has mailed them saying their map is cool because we all know that some on that list can be pretty basic sometimes and not have a lot to offer, however things are getting a bit better with the lists. But I quote LP Pharand from that Interview above. "I can't wait to see people do crazy sh*t. That's what I want to see as soon as the game comes out" Well I am sure everyone would like to hear about the crazy sh*t maps he has discovered while browsing through the player maps" Has anyone else heard of any maps mentioned? There's the answer - Silence. Sorry guys but it's a flawed system - it will never work unless people are honest and not selfish like a lot in the Far Cry Community can be. I am sorry for going off topic and I hope I have not wrecked the thread but there are a percentage of players that seem to be obsessed with the Ubisoft Recommended list, I mean come on - all you get is a picture and map and author name, no indication of why the map was mentioned. If you want credit then check and see if your map gets hosted online by others, that is where it's at - You will know that your work is rewarded when you see others hosting and enjoying them. Still this list is a step in the right direction but right now on PS3 I can't think of a map that deserves to be on the list that has not already been on there, There are not many good maps on the PS3, the good ones are really hard to find which is where this thread comes in I guess. |

Agent00Kevin this i a good idea for a thread.
Considering how many people are on these boards, this is a nice way to get ubisoft to narrow the search for maps. Just look at the recommendations posted here and see if any fit the bill. Now I have to go and start DL'ing maps again. |

Im glad most of you appreciate the thread. One of the reasons I try to be so active here is that I have the XNA game studio and am an aspiring programmer. This is also why I like the mapmakers so much. The mapmakers are a very basic start, but level design is a very important aspect of gaming.
Its no easy task, I have invested a lot of $$ in books (XNA game studio 2.0, Microsoft Visual C# 2005, C++ without fear and a few others) and programs. Participation in gaming communities is also very important to me, and I see a lot of user created material here that is just spectacular and very 'outside the box' The most important aspect of all, however, is supporting the Gamer himself/herself. Lately, I have spent more time on this forum and in the map editor than actually playing the game. We all obviously have at least one thing in common: we love to play games. So lets put aside the anger and jealousy and support each other in any way that we can. Thanks for participating in this thread. |

Kudos to you Kevin for trying to help organize things on here. Every bit helps when trying to improve the community. I do wish Ubi had separate boards for each version, it would simplify things for the users. Perhaps new maps wouldn't scroll off so fast and get the attention they deserve.
I hope the everyone realizes we are all in this together, regardless of differing opinions. We all want the best game and support we can get, and I hope Ubi realizes that and steps up too. |

Man...there are a LOT of worthy contenders for the list!
360 I'd recommend "starwars jabbapalace" by DEATH WEAPONxx. He did an outstanding job with all of the detailing and the map is fun to play. "Mech Factory ZE1" by i mzeeEVIL1. A solid layout with outstanding details throughout, and a very immersive environment. "Cyprus" by XxXCASHnDASHXxX. This map probably has my most favorite layout of any map I've ever played. Multi-level, no corner left un-detailed, balanced, smooth game-play...just a total treat to play. There are many more great ones I'm forgetting about at the moment, but whether these ever make the ubi list or not, they should ALL be downloaded. DO IT!!! You won't regret it. My 360 Map Collection: Suspendead, Curve Damage, Doom Dome, Fatalitrees, Spherikill, Pyramayhem, Valley Ho, No Quarter, Purpose Unknown Co-op Maps: Ciriculus Alliance http://www.ustream.tv/channel/strangerthingslive |

I will browse my map list and see what I could post here.
I agree about cyprus, it's one of the maps which catched my attention when looking at how it could potentially play. |
