So I'm kinda new to this site but not to map making, it's always been a hobby of mine ever since there was a map editor in Tony Hawk's:Underground up until I discovered the godliness of the Far Cry 2 editor. Anyway, I've finished, not started 3 online maps ranging from when i first got the jist of the system to now. My latest map, which through my eyes is pretty decent, is called Lumber Yard. I just finished and uploaded it today but that's not the story. I was trying to get some people to join my player match so they could download and rate my map but so far, only 2 people have ever played/downloaded it. I've been trying for some 3 hours to get people to come but obviously people would prefer to play on maps made by 9-year olds. All i really want and what I've been dying to hear are some legit opinions, not the one response i got back saying "cool". My gamer tag is NJDuke so if you took interest in this thread and the map, you know where to download it, thank you for your time and have a wonderful day. I'll try to get some picture in later but you'll have to experience the map to really rate it.

pics definitely help....theres not a big player base since ubi shafted the community and there was server issues earlier on ubi's end so it would be harder to get players in.

thats not cool, even if a map was made by a nine year old if he can keep players in his maps he's doing damn well. This comment could also be taken as saying the popular maps out there are at a nine y/o lvl.

Anyhow i'll take a look...btw its better to state what platform its on too.

*edit ...nm it must be on a console(i got the pc version)

You can kind of tell a 9 year old terrain-less map from something more "professional" and i don't think i should tell you the platform because it's kind of obvious when i said "...my gamertag is NJDuke" Do the math.

omg what is up with that sort of attitude, that wont get u anywhere, im on the PC version and i also say my gamer tag is FFurioSS, and ive seen many other pc players say it also. And about the terrain-less maps, ive seen loads of very good maps that have absolutly no terrain work, including some of my own maps, and even so ive seen 9 year olds make really good maps. So if u keep that kind of attitude towards the community, i doubt very much u will get help.

The only possible good terrain-less maps are city maps, building maps, or ones that take place in the air and recomend me a 9-year olds map and I'll determine whether or not he could even use the editor. Besides you guys haven't helped much at all besides when matty101 said i need pictures, besides that, you've pretty much just defended 9-year old maps and scolded me for speaking out. By the way, who thinks of a PC when they say gamertag?

While gamertag may be a mainstreamed term in console use, there was gaming on pc's beforehand where a name, nickname, tag, login, gamer id, so on and so forth was used to describe user identity. Consolers may only recognize it as a console term though, since i am not one of them i'm not blinded by the fact that it can be used in a broader sense.

Before you start dissing the map which you have obviously not played, at least try to make your sentences make sense. "Serious can the -tude" What the hell does that mean and i don't know if laying down a killin is part of your sig or what. I know you can't be taken serious because even a professional map maker would not give it a zero, a zero would be just the plain starting map with NOTHING on it and besides i took the inspiration from a place in the actual game so it's like your giving the people who made far cry's landscape and etc a 0, damn you guys suck at arguing.

The key to getting players on the consoles is getting friends. Join some other matches then send friend invites, as you want people on your friends list that are currently playing the game.

Also, mix some other popular maps in with your own. You will keep more people that way...be on your mic too.

Thats how the average maps keep getting plays, because those users have friends lists with alot of active players.

Yea that's what i did. I started off with some D-Day map then mine and i reeled in some 5 people. The players voted to extended the match so i can only assume they liked it.

ok, I looked at 2 of your maps.

lumber yard looks decent, the mapping is good, you just went a bit crazy with the road tool in some places I think. the gameplay doesn't look super exciting but doesn't seem bad. maybe you should spread the spawnpoints more, you have enough room to do it.

in the mountain bunker map, the mapping is also good overall, apart from some noticeable flashies. on the other hand the gameplay looks bad, each base seem to only have one entrance, and between them there's a huge field with close to no cover, you could hardly find a better way to encourage campers.

also it looks like there are a couple holes inside the playable area where you can fall and stay trapped, and you know it. don't do that.

I have a 9 year old daughter. She made a cool map!

OK, I might have helped her a tiny bit Smile

I'll check out your map the next time I'm on this game.
