Does Sirrus appear at the outside door of the old memory chamber no matter what else you've done or not done in the game before you get there?

I ask because in my first foray into Serenia, I had looked at the door and was disappointed that I could not go closer. But I had not been given a magnifying glass hand. Either that, or I'd moved too fast and the hand only showed me Achenar's memory that is associated with the platform outside the door.

Could you explain in a little more detail? What does the Stranger have to have done, already before reaching the old chamber, in order for Sirrus to appear?

OK. I had already done that during my first visit (which I deleted before proceeding to Spire) so I must have just moved the cursor too fast.
