That's what I want to say to both of the circuit boards on Spire.
The first time one of those circuit boards folded up and retracted, the noise it made startled me. I couldn't figure out *what* that sound might have been. Even the second time, I thought "that is strange!" By the third time - while I was still "lost" about what to do - it definitely sounded as if it were just laughing at my distress.
(btw, was there supposed to be an Amulet scene connected with the circuit board near the control panel for the rock ship? I found the one out on the Palace first, and I don't remember the Amulet connected with it.)
Maybe LynComeLately is hearing some of us laughting at her, because she expects us to remember all the small details and forgetting that we have played Myst 4....... a long, long time ago.

Well, I replayed a saved game I had at the entrance to Spire. I did check around the circuit boards and got an amulet "video scene" for all of them.
I could replay each scene as many times as I wanted. Each board has its own video scene.
Note: for the amulet to work, the covers had to be closed and I had to see/use the "magnifying glass cursor". After a first viewing, you have to click the amulet for a replay.
n: "All" of them? Aren't there only two? Oops! I've only seen two as yet (I'm not talking about the control panels, where the lid is cylindrical and it "rolls" back).
Wait, are you saying that I can go back after being away and get the Amullet to replay then?
r: Right. I understand that the Amulet memory does not show a character, we just hear Sirrus' voice.
But I did not find a board until I went out to the separate palace. I also went back to a Save game in order to be able to check the other board - the one that is nearby the lower rockship panel - "first." I do not get a memory at that board.

If Lyn is not talking about the smaller cylindrical panels or about the bigger control console, then what is she talking about ?
nanoukmetal, maybe that's not what you've been calling them.
To see the circuit boards, you have to pull up on a glowing handle. Then the two-sided board opens like a book, and as you watch, the circuits that have power to them light up and start humming. It's when I right-click away that the the board "laughs at me."
One of them is on the large island sort of between* the lower rockship Control Console and the pole ladder; the other is out on the separate palace - beyond the console at the end of the walkway.
*You might have looked this direction several times, since there looks as if there's a passageway through the glowing rock off to the right of the console, but the cursor won't let you go there.
I can identify the sound as an electric motor now, but the first time I heard it, I had stepped away from the board and it just sounded weird.
I was going to ask for a nudge, but I am guessing that seeing your board gives me the next step I needed. I've been down at the spider chair popping the circuit breaker over and over again (math is NOT one of my strong points!).
I went back to a Saved game and walked back through the steps to power the board as it shows on nanoukmetal's screencap. Then I went and tried the chair again. I got past the circuit breaker this time, and down two levels, to where the board *finally* lights up the panel below the 3 nodes and I see the cursor hand showing me I can manipulate "something" in two places. That's where I chickened out. I am so brain dead when I get home from work, and I just know I'm going to need to be at the top of my game to wrestle with this puzzle. So I saved and Quit.
Now this morning I realize that I breezed through - rather than "walked" through - because I didn't bother to go back and collect all the memories throughout the process, and I know from glimpses I've had of thread titles that I may need them later.
<sigh> I suppose I'm going to have to go through it all up yet again.
