Make no mistake.. I LOVE this game. But.... In my opinion the "exactness" of solving some problems brings gameplay to a screeching halt.

The Camodile Puzzle was rediculous. The exactness required was simply too much (at least on the Mac version). What appeared to me to be the exact same input would not work and then work. Seems like tenths of seconds in the length of input makes a difference. Repeating the same move 10 times to make it work takes away from the game play and tends to make one want to walk away!!!

Moving on, I'm now trying to get the creature to wake up. I had the solution from the clip that played but when I applied the solution it did not work. So I assumed I was wrong and I consulted the game spoiler. Sure enough.. I was doing the right thing. I'm still trying to get it to work! Evidently I'm just not exact enough on the movement. A visit to another spoiler site re-confirmed that I was doing the right thing. But it still won't work.

I've gone from exciting game play to frustration and dissappointment.

This forum is spoiler free... DO NOT give advice on how to solve my problem! Eventually I'll get it solved (after I pull my hair out!)

Yeah there's a lot of talk about this and another puzzle in the Spoiler Forum.

Once you finish the game you can come check it out.

Five bones plus paddle equals monkey!!! What about that can you not intrinsically understand??!!

Logic is something the developers took liberty with in this game. I'm not sure I am really accomplishing anything by coming to understand it either...

Yes that one got me for a while too. I'm not sure if bad game mechanics are meant to be part of the puzzle or not but after trying the same thing about fifty times it just suddenly worked for some reason.

The Camoudile/Mangree puzzle is a piece of cake compared to Spires' timed chair puzzle.

Ohhhhh.. please don't say that....

I can see what's coming next. The disclaimer on on the "Myst V/Countdown" package...

"For Windows and Macintosh. This game requires Agile Mouse Manipulation and the use of a Precision Timer (not included). Financial compensation for mouse injuries or mental breakdowns not included."

Make sure you install the latest patch, as it has slowed down and adjusted the timed puzzles in the game... hopefully that'll help you out.
