Welcome to the Myst 4 forums.

Maybe it is because you were looking in the wrong forum. This one is a "no spoiler" General Discussions.

Some walkthroughs can be found in the first "sticked thread" at the top of the Myst 4-Spoilers Forums.

Here are three of them...

Just jumping on the bandwagon and plugging my walk through. I've made an effort not to give away the solution to each puzzle immediately but as it is a walk through, there is a risk you may get 'spoiled'.

Shell's walk through
Cheers

Let me explain you the meaning of "Spoiler Free"...

You can also find the electronic version of the original book available online (preview at no charge, entire book for a fee) and a Help guide with different levels of hints in the game itself.

Wikipedia has a lot of information about characters and Ages, but they have decided to include spoilers, just so you know.

There's also a very nice walkthrough at the Narayani Collective . . . when the site is up and accessible.

Gee, you really are a cheeky bugger, realxcv! (you may need to get an Aussie to translate that for you - it is a term of endearment!).

I wouldn't have normally posted here, except that Nanoukmetal had posted 'well, you are in the wrong area but.....' and put up three spoiling walkthrough links. As this one topic has had 1238 views to date, I thought I'd jump on board.

Mods - feel free to delete.

cheers

Hey Lyn,

How about some links to the stuff you mentioned there. Sounds interesting!

Unfortunately, I don't have links handy.

Narayani Collective has been down for a couple months, but it does that and then it'll pop back up for a while.

In any case, google is your friend. If I could find them, you can too!

p.s. I found your walkthrough when I was googling. I like the way you start out by filling us in on general pointers.

Ahhh, that makes sense - googling Narayani Collective only got me a (salmon and green coloured!) forum last accessed in 2005, so now I know why!

ETA: Glad you like the pointers. That walkthrough is still evolving - did you see the little shout-out on it to you and realXCV for all that feedback you guys gave me last month? I think I said to you then that I wanted to add in more of the 'things you can play with' as opposed to the 'stuff that moves the story along' - I reckon I'll be looking to bounce more stuff off you guys as I go!

cheers

All right, you did *ask* for feedback, right?

Now that I've finished Spire, I read that section of your walkthrough. Here's a few comments.

1) Why no mention at all of Sirrus' garden? IIRC, there's a couple memories to be collected there, aside from the enjoyment of exploring another small area.

2) In Sirrus' bedroom, you have to FIND the ruler before you can photograph it.

3) The pebble caught in the winch controls on the other island, and the other floating
rock(s), are NOT Nara. Zoom in on Sirrus' chess board and touch the amulet for an explanation of where he got Nara.

4) Don't leave without checking out the circuit board out there (there's two of them) to collect another memory.

When I finished your Spire page, I realized that I could not see the text at the bottom because of the menu at the left. I was avoiding it all the way down the page. Is there some way to turn it off temporarily?

All text should be checked for typos. Things like "desk draws" show up occasionally.

Woohoo! The more feedback the better!

So far I have only included 'neckless' memories where they provide clues or I thought there was something quirky about them - my first task when adding 'ambience' to the walkthrough will be to add all the memories in.

Very interested to read your note about the left hand menu blocking out text on the page..... but I can't replicate it. Can I trouble you for a screenshot or at least can you let me know what resolution and internet browser you are using??

Thanks Lyn!

I use AOL Explorer set at 1024x768.

[I know how to take screenshots; I finally got a photobucket free account after nanoukmetal wanted me to post "The Hand;" but after only doing it once, I really have no clue how to show you a screenshot.]

Go to your Photobucket account, scrowl the desired image, a menu with different link codes will open.
Left click and copy the IMG Code. It should look somewhat like this
[IMG ] http: //i14.photobucket.com/......jpg[ /IMG]
and paste it in the reply window over here.

That's it . . . thanks!

Meanwhile, it became obvious to me that it's a matter of window size, not browser or resolution.

Just pull either edge of your window inward, and you'll see the menu start to overlap the text. Only if I maximize the window, or at least expand the window horizontally to the edges of my screen, will the menu clear the text.
