I'm trying do finish it for some time, got too frustrated by stupid scripting but today tried again. This was the last time, singleplayer campaigns are definitely a history for me now.

I try to kill the radio station staff. So I'm all of a sudden supposed to just kill a bunch of guys, altough earlier just opening a box was enoug for the bloody "Alarm! Saboteurs in base!" thing. Ok, I try to position myself in the room to be able to quickly kill all the guys, but thtey seem to just dissapear. I have a certain area where enemy is in line of sight, I'm actually standing 50 centimeters from it, but I just can't see the man. Than, after I start killing the staff, he just appears out of nowhere like a predator. Is that a cloaking device? Also, scripting is so confusing it hurts: First time I draw the knife or that welrod thing and immediately "Alarm! Saboteurs in the base!" is triggered. Next time I do exactly the same thing but this time it's "Oh God no!". Blink And mission doesn't fail. Until one of the invisible guards appears ouf of the thin air and shout the good old "Alarm!" thing. Now what the heck am I supposed to do in order NOT to trigger "Alarm!" but "Oh god no!"??? And how am I supposed to see the invisible people? This is a rethorical question btw, I don't mean to play the campaign any more, I just wonder if the missions were tested in the first place and how the heck were they imagined by devs to be passed? Am I supposed to just save and load until "Alarm" bacomes "Oh god no"? Saying this mission is stupid is an understatement, it's plainly rediculous and IMHO doesn't deserve the time required to accomplish. Go out, meet firends, drink beer, have fun, just don't bother yourself with things like this. Just my advice. Smile

Well Rochefort was the first mission, I really had
some very frustrating moments as well and even stopped playing after several attempts. But then

again, I dont give up easy, so tried again with more nerve.. Smile
Walkthrough, how I did it; maybe long, be warned.
-
First of all, to succeed in this mission, everything in the objectives had to be done *to the

letter*
General Suggestions:
Save after every single accomplished objective. Do *not* look into any crates, ect.
You can do this later.
You got 2 guys, I call them black(jacket) and uniform. Note, that in some areas only one of

these guys can go without triggering the alarm.

1. Recon the complete base and use the black guy for it.
2. Once you have reconed the complete base (objective complete) you have to mine 4 spots,
do it as follows and use the guy mentioned to not trigger the alarm:

a.uniform does the two checkpoint mines, once the guards are looking another way.
b.black does the motorpool mine; he has to lure away the mechanic..to do so, he has
to steal the mechanics toolsbox, when he walks away. Step back and wait, do NOT place the mine

yet. Wait, until he goes outside and talks to another mechanic, once the conversation begins,
quickly place the mine.
c.For the fourth and last mine to be placed, you can make this very easy, if you work as an

team! Place the black guy near the cook in the backyard of the baracks and the uniform guy
close to the entrance in front of the baracks. Save. When the cook walks behind some corner
to get fresh wood, quickly kill him in this corner with your knife.
Then, take the crowbar on the ground and signal the guards in the baracks to come to lunch
into the backyard(Hit piece of metal hanging there with crowbar). Once the last guy walks out

the door, quickly have uniform run into the baracks and place the mine, then have him get out

again. (You can do this actually with one,
the uniform, guy, but you have to be very, very quick.) teamwork is much easier.

3. Ok, now move back your black guy to the detonator, where you started and dont get near the

officer guys, which will spot you a little bit farther away than normal soldiers.
Move your uniform guy into the fuel storage (with the big tanks) and place him behind
the little shack so, that the officer standing in front of the shack can not see you.
Once he looks the other way, quickly run into the shack and talk to the traindriver, which is

actually an german prisoner. He will suggest, that you have to switch the tracks for him to

escape with the fuel train (secondary objective, but cool!) Do *not* attempt to switch the track
right away, there is an guard standing nearby, which you cannot lure away, you can do this way

later, just dont forget. (The guard will try to hunt you down later and therefore leaves his

post) Smile
By the way, at this point I like to suggest, you can forget about the fuel truck, it's just

*too* hard to get this out of the base as well. Found no way that worked to do it.

4.Save. Now comes the most important and utmost hectic part. You have to do many things in
quick order and absolutely not much time to get it all right. Read carefully and memorize.
Place your uniform guy in the radio station, behind the crate, facing the guy sitting with
his back turned to you. (NOT the one at the entrance, mind you) Since you only got 6 shots from

your Welrod, I suggest you begin with throwing your knife; that way you got 7 shots in case one
is missing. SO..in order: Set your guy to 'Fire at will' now equip the knife and immediately

target the guy sitting..then quickly switch to Welrod and *let him do his dirty work alone!* Smile
If you do it correctly, no one will escape the room and the objective is complete.

5.Two things can happen now. Alarm *not* triggered: You did very well and in split second.
You now got still enough time to get your uniform guy out of the radio station and preferably

back to your other guy at the detonator. (Note, You *must* get him out of the radio station, if

you want to play in slowmotion mode;..if he stays there, there is some trigger, that *always*
will reset your slowmotion setting to normal speed, remind that.)

Alarm triggered: UhOh. Smile
-
But ok, in order: If the Alarm is triggered and you want to save uniforms life, immediately let

him run *out of the base* far away into some ruins there or even farther away. Do not attempt to

fight; hopeless.
If the Alarm is not triggered, either get him back to the other guy or as well move him out of

the radio station and out of the base! You can pick him up later. You will see why.
-
6. Save. Now, every objective so far is completed (except the fueltruck; let it be) and you are

prepared to trigger your mines; once done, all hell breaks loose. At this point I like to
point out that it *is* possible to complete the mission (Arcade mode) without loosing a single

soldier! Heres how: You blow up the mines and your attack force outside the base will begin the

attack. What is VERY annoying in this situation is, that there will be an cutscene, which
only lets you take control of your soldiers, when already half are dead;..so kill this
cutscene immediately! Via your minimap, quickly switch over to your attacking force, and..
---
7.Break of your attack! You cannot win this initial fight. It is much better you quickly
switch through your teams (the soldiers and the vehicle) and send them to that corner of the

complex, which is closest to the black guy, still waiting near the detonator!
-
8. Since he cant escape anywhere and dont stand a chance on his own (unarmed still) you can use

the vehicle to break down the wall near him and let him escape from the complex!
Once you got everyone behind this corner of the complex, abandon the vehicle! It wont help you
since its very weak and got almost no fuel. So, now, you got an little army here;..lets see,

what we can do with it, shall we? Smile
-
9. The first thing you do now is.. run away! Into the wilderness, far away from the complex.
The best place is the farm nearby, where you can make your first stand and pick of some guys of

the complex, which *will follow you, whereever you go* From now on, you will have to
fight 'retreating battles' until the end of the mission. (remind you, it can be done without

loosing a single soldier!)
-
10. Shoot some guys and retreat around the map (yes, the mission will be *very* long) Do *not*
stock up ammunition on guys you just shot, because there will be always tanks threatening you;..
no, you will come across the same spot some times while running..then stock up.
Ohh, and dont forget, that you need fatigue (the green bar below health) for running. You
*must* stop retreating/fighting (lay low somewhere) inbetween for several times.
Halfways through the mission, you will get an tiger tank and some additional guys..if you want

to save those as well..abandon the tank(!) and meet up on foot with your other group.
This way, you can have up to three groups fighting and hitting the base from several directions.
And yes, even use the tiger inbetween to get of an shot or two until retreating again. Smile
-
(Dont forget to switch the trains track switch..the guard has left his position now)
I found the mines of little value so killed every single enemy tank by AT grenades from behind

corners or over small buildings, while stationary. But never stay in one spot too long..you will
be annihilated. There will be several enemy reenforcements, including heavy pershing tanks, so
be prepared for the worst.
11. Eventually, You will succeed and kill them all. Personally, I had the impression, this was

the most hard, adrenalin pumping and finally *very* satisfying mission, I have played in any
RTS game *ever* Smile I was flooded with medals!!! Wink

Are you ready for the slaughter yet? The last german mission (after Rochefort) is *the* blast,

if I come to know one! Smile

Ok after I read this I'm completly sure I won't try it ever again. No way. I admire your patience and your ability to actually have fun while doing what you decsribed, but I unfortunately can't force myself to it. Sad

Instead I installed Close Combat III, a 7 year old game, and you won't believe how relaxing it is in comparison. No bugs, no cutscenes, no scripts, just 100% WW2 fun. Smile

That particular cutscene alone claimed the lifes of ten of my heroic combat troops! All good men.. Frown
(This was my first attempt on the mission, thus the losses)
But they paid the price dearly at Louvain, ha! Smile
I wont tell you, how long that took, though.. Wink

Me as well, I still can't believe I can have fun one more time after playing it so long ago. FOW could have been something like super CC, but it's lacking... My hopes are in the patch, until than singleplayer is on the shelf. Smile

And LOL at that enemy losses info. Veryhappy I had somewhat over 700 kills in one of the earlier missions, the one with 2 rocket launching Shermans, but that was becasue of a bug that made hundreds of Allied troops squeeze in very tight area. 10-15 HE shells made 500 kills Big Grin But this was for real I guess...

My BIGGEST complaign is the following BUG:
after the allied troops arrive, (tanks etc), the game speed speeds up to 3, ALways.
Even when I click back to 1, after a few secs back to 3s. UNPLAYBLE. I managed pretty good untill the allies send in, I suppose, it's last wave. Like 3 shermans, firefly and a pershing. jeeez.. no problem however, but that Speed bug is just so frustrating that this game goes back into the closet.
one question, which supply kit has the ammo + bazookas? I currently only have one bazooka guy, and out of ammo. I forgot where the ammo is located.
still the speed bug kills the game

If you got the patience, read my walkthrough above. I also lost some hairs about that speedjump, believe me. If this would be hardwired into the mission...ok, some of you guys may pull this off, I'm sure. Not me. Smile
-
But here is the catch: You *must* get everyone away from the radio station. It seems, the speedjump not only kicks in, if someone is in it, but also, if some of your guys are around it in certain radius. Once you left that area, you can change the speed again to your preference,
until you get near the radiostation again;..try it. Smile
I think, the designers had in mind to *really* make you jump in panic, when suddenly the **** hits the fan..good one! You got me! Smile

I've killed everybody in de radio station, no problemo.
still, the issue isn't tied to the radio station.
I retreated back to the main gate, and luckly that last tankforce didn't follow, so I could pick them off. still, that speed bump is annoying.
Is that the last mission?? to bad, as we where on the road to Antwerp

Are you sure? Have you tried it again from an savegame? For me, the slowdown control
worked again, once I moved the guy farther away
from it. Later, when in combat I happened to come by that station again, certainly enough the speedjump set in again. (to be sure, I tried this twice) That was, when I tied it to the radio station to be related. Some trigger.

Also, it never happened in any other mission.

There is one epic mission after Rochefort. Wink

Not with me. (well, I havn't done the first part of the German campaign yet, started with this one, elite troops.)
Rochefort is the last one I get in the 'special' commando's tree. Debriefing says the troops got fuel to go to Antwerp. but no further missions. I now gotta start nijmegen missions.

Where is the epic mission with you? the "normal soldier" tree? or do I need to finish the normal tree first, so that the epic mission comes availeble in the 'special commando's tree'?

about that radio station, I completely blew it up last time, with dynamite. mybay that's the reason??

Guys, I'm curious;..next time I get to this mission, I'd like to pull it off 100%
complete, primary and secondary objectives.
-
That fueltruck really makes me scratch my head;..who made it? How? When?
-
The alarm is triggered(Mission failed at once) if you touch that thing anywhere,
before everything else is done; it's damn vulnerable, and in addition, is
immediately driven to safety, once you blow the mines.

So, the 'When' part seems clear to me; after blowing the mines it must be.
But the how isn't clear;..once the base is da hornets nest, you wont get
anywhere near it with either of your 2 guys, nor your attacking forces.
(too many losses)

Any suggestions?
-
I think, I will just watch next time (after mines are blown) who gets into the
truck when, to drive it away. He either needs to get killed quickly or, if its
some random guy, another solution must be found.
-
Anyone managed to examine *all* the various crates, before Alarm? And if, did
you find other radio controlled mines anywhere? I think, that would be most helpful
for this truck (and radio station) issue. Later, everything in the base is either
crushed by tanks or explosions anywhere;..many many crates cant be examined in
time; too bad.

thank you for your walktrough.

i have alot of trouble with the toolbox thing. the guy in the black jacket picks the toolbox up and when the mechanic sees him the alarm is triggered. what do i do with the toolbox when i picked it up? now i put it away using the "holster weapon" command.

First of all I would like to THANK troop13 for his excellent guide...without it, I would never even consider about actually starting this mission.
Now, a quick note base on my experience (I'm still playing this mission, I'm approximately at point 10 of the guide).
I noticed that the black uniform guy can place ALL the radio mines (even the two checkpoint ones--just walk there, place the mine, retreat!!!!) himself.
I find also easyer to use only the black uniform guy to place the last mine, at the guide point 2, letter c.
----------------------
Now, my problem:
as I told I'm approximately at point 10 of the guide, 4 soldiers left.
Am I supposed to kill ALL the soldiers in the base and THEN switch the trains track switch?
In other words, is the train track switch REQUIRED to receive reinforcements?
P.S. I'm playing on tactical, and the idea of killing all the soldiers in the base with only 4 soldiers..................
P.P.S. Do the soldiers in the base respown?

You begin with your guy standing outside the sideentrance (from where you can see the mechanic working clearly) and wait, until he walks to your right into the corner of the motorpool. Once he is halfways there, you can run up behind him and take the toolbox;..and yes, immediately stick it into your own inventory!
Then, you get out quickly again the same way (sideentrance) and wait, until he finds out his toolsbox is gone. (If you *directly* after the steal attempt to place the mine, you will be 'too long' in the motorpool and thus, Alarm will be raised. It's an timebased trigger, that only allows you to be in there for a short time) He will then walk outside past the vehicle he was working on and talk to 'Frank' As soon as this
conversation begins, you quickly run into the motorpool to the far end opposing the sideentrance and
only there put out the mine and place it. Once done, you quickly leave the motorpool the same way *again* Smile
That should do. Basically;..dont stick around *in* the motorpool. Always move. Dont have anything in your hands while in there (knife, toolbox, mine) or very short. If he's done talking to Frank, he will come back
and stupidly do his same routine you've noticed before again;..only this time without toolbox. Wink
Aww;..distraction, but hillarious(sp?) Also, on his way back, he might discover you, so..out, quickly.
