This is the latest version of the Dynamic Campaign Generator for Faces of War.

The new version (1.1) fixes the problems associated with using some non-English versions of Windows. It also makes it easy to add new maps built in BestWay's excellent mission editor to the campaign.

This is a random battle generator. It allows you to retain your surviving forces from one randomly generated battle to another. When the player saves the mission (in the game), indicating the end of the battle, the Campaign.exe program looks for forces marked with the words "{Player 1}" in the save game file to determine whether they have survived. Any such surviving forces are included in the player's forces when the next random mission is automatically generated.

Two extra mods are included in the package, but are not required to play. They are simple mods that remove the hitpoints from the armor penetration system and increase the view distance.

The readme.txt file contains all the information necessary to set up this mod.

Jozor23: The error message is due to the J# redist not functioning for some reason.

You have correctly identified the solution which is to extract the maps yourself. I am suprised it didn't work: I have had reports that it has worked for others.

The back- and forward- slashes are normal - that's the same for everyone (inside the program).

You are the first person that has mentioned 64 bit WinXP.

Did you confirm that "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Faces of War\Mods\Campaign/map/single/1/2-3-argentan/map"
was extracted to that path properly?

Yes it is confirmed to be extracted there "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Faces of War\Mods\Campaign\resource\map\single\1\2-3-argentan", there is a file there with no exstension called "map"

Just allways seems to be a problem with the 64bit'ness while 32bit'rs are fine

(No wounder it was a pound cheaper than the 32bit version!!)

I don't know what's wrong, but I'll add something to the log to try to debug this in the next version.

It will probably be a few months before the next actual release, but as soon as I have something to show, I'll start putting up testing versions for anyone who wants to try.

The next version will have a window that pops up after you save to let you choose reinforcements and other things.

If you want somebody could send you the extracted versions of the maps, so that you can use the campaign generator. I would do that, but i don´t have a broad-band internet Roll Eyes. But there will be a solution Big Grin.

Who has the possibility to help him ?

You should release the extracted maps (single and multi) of the folder ""F:\Programs\UBISOFT\Faces of War\mods\Campaign\map"" at Filefront or another webhosting-page (cave: more than 280 MB!). There he can download them and reinstall them in the correct folder Wink . You should also release the file "maps.xml" of the folder ""F:\Programme\UBISOFT\Faces of War\mods\Campaign"", which he should also reinstall in the correct folder Winky .
I think than it will be possible to use the Campaign generator like he would had extracted the maps himself Typing .

GREETINGS

centurie1970: glad to hear it runs in Vista; thanks for the news!

I finally found the cause of the problem for more than three beeps. It seems that FoW saves to the save file multiple times, so when my mod detects a save, it doesn't necessarily mean FoW is done saving! Maybe I can fix it now...

I'm making some progress on the reinforcement selection...

Just relized when i tryed the DCG: Accessories that i had the map folder wrong

quote:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Faces of War\Mods\Campaign\resource\map

Instead of
quote:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Faces of War\Mods\Campaign\resource\map\single\3\0-0-training

The saving now works fine..

But still i can only play on one map.. it wont change to diffrent maps -.- if i want to do that i must do it manualy by copying and pasting the right parts of another map (which is simple enough..) Is it maybe that in my Settings.xml there is a part of text missing that gets automaticly enter'd when you extract all of the maps threw the program?

Jozor23: thats's ok thanks - your settings file looks correct. I assume you are leaving Campaign.exe running in the background while you play FoW? Can you post the contents of the log.txt file in your mods/campaign folder?

Jozor23: If I understand you correctly, the map error you refer to is not the one you posted before. Can you post the error message? Thanks.

From the log you posted, I can see that everything else is fine.
