Faces of War: Patch #1
======================== Common ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - profiles & screenshots will be placed into folder <my documents>/my games/faces of war/ - now profile can be deleted from game - some localization issues fixes - several game crashes fixed - many missions bugs fixed - game will use 5 autosaves in cycle, not just one Interface (single & multiplayer) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - minimap zoom-in and zoom-out - big map (key M) - fixed single unit selection when pause is turned on - unmanned vehicles are shown in squad panel - guns will have diffrent icon in squad panel - ability to assign keys 1..9 to single units - alternative unit selection system (available via game options) - marked tabs in interface - fixed: camera not following unit in direct control after save/load - can move camera with keyboard in pause - components that can't be repaired are marked with black color - fixed soldiers talks on grenade throwing Interface (multiplayer) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - host name and player name are separated - ping now shown on all clients in game and in session - ping on all open games in lobby - ability to change game type and map in session - option to turn flora respawn off - displays client disconnection reason - message "player xxx is gone" is turned off - statistics sorting - statistics in cooperative for all players - displays client's PC performance in session and in game - ability to change password in session - chat enchancement . colored messages depending on sender . private messages . copy/paste to clipboard - improved reinforcements panel (more useful info) - ability to quick lock/unlock password protected session - ability to set comment for session (select session in lobby to view it) - ability to set up max players count in session - displays missing mods/resources upon connection Graphics ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - reworked fog of war - unlocked camera - fixed "unable to run game" issue on some Radeons - realistic reflections on water - game allowed to run (after user request) if not enough video memory available Game (single & multiplayer) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - grenade movement trail - no ricochet for bazooka and howitzer shells - lowered howitzer's accuracy - lowered restitution for grenades - sapper clear mines upon detection - fixed fast destruction of buildings by AP shells and bazooka - don't stand up on order "attack", if soldier can shoot from current position - now squad follows closer to commander - fixed installation of AT hedgehogs and dynamite - other soldiers don't prevent coming to items or boxes - fixed path planning for cars and cannons - tank slowing down while crushing buildings - soldier will not throw grenades, if he can shoot enemy or enemy is too close - don't shoot enemy soldiers with bazooka - fixed aiming of stationary artillery and self-propelled artillery - no more standing corpses in water after save/load - more realistic damage/penetration system - improved attack point location for commands: attack, throw grenade, shoot bazooka... - improved path planning for soldiers in covers - improved soldiers distribution for move-to-cover command - fixed: unable to see enemy after load, if you unit saw enemy before save (tactics difficulty) - fixed: enemy seen in fog, however you should not see it - fixed: planted bushes don't obscure visibility Game (multiplayer) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - improved scoring system - ability to set up limit on resources in game (like in Soldiers) - new color for "call in" buttons - if unit is charged, but can't be called in due to limits, then button is red, otherwise button is gray - more fragile tracks on tanks - turret and engine repair is allowed - new marking for flag zone - in "Frontline" mode mines are deleted only in flag zone - improved balance for "squads only" for all multiplayer modes - new command "abandon vehicle" (Key L) - better component-wise tank destruction in multiplayer - new gameplay options for multiplayer: . reinforcement - time-based, money-based with refund, money-based without refund . intensity - low (mostly diversions), normal (battle), high (meat-grinder) - ability to mask your field gun with bushes (new command for gun) * ability to enter second floor in buildings Multiplayer (technology) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - improved internet connection stability - improved lag for fast PCs in game - connection by IP is working now - more options open for modding in multiplayer modes - fixed: not a master of session on dedicated server - fixed: client crash on connection to dedicated server - interface lag 2x improvement in multiplayer (time between button press & action) * low lag on slow servers * UPnP support for PCs behind the NAT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Points marked with asterisk (*) are not done yet. Or someway to customize what can and cannot be in a multi game? I would find it more exciting if you had a mortar team supporting an infantry attack. |

i went to futureshop... they have the game and im waiting for the announcement of a skirmish mode or random map generator and then i'll buy it
even if its a couple months from now i would just like to know if its going to be included at some point |

Nice!!! This will make a lot of people very happy.
But I still have three little question: 1. May you add many difficult mode? I.e.: only easy and tactical are not satisfacting all players' exigencies. 2. In the multyplayer interface, there will be a way to hide/unhide the "buy" list? It takes a lot of space when you consider that, on the other side of the desk, there are the squad list too. It would be very usefull if you can add a command to hide it when a player has called in battle his squads and vehicles. 3. Please check the missions bugs. There are a lot of people that complain about the incapability to advance in the mission accomplishment. I realize that you do not have so many time to dedicate us, but I hope you could make (or plann in a future patch) something about this little problems that really affect the gameplay of your great game. We only wish the best for your/our game. ichrono...I think they're will be a map generator, (read that in the past). Skirmish I don't know...in the full game it isn't included

if you want the game more difficult you could simple modifi the config datas in the difficult folder

Good list. One thing that catch my atention is my men use grenade too often and its very common to see them swiching to grenade when the enemy is just two meters away and this combined with tho slow grenade throw animations usualy leads to their dead. Would be good if they throw greanades only at enemyes in trenches, behind cover or in buildings.

The squad panel is the series of icons on the left side of your screen that shows the squads you have. Previously if a tank was unmanned and you owned it, it wouldn't show on that, but this apparently changes that. |

Hi
Great to see a developer giving answers. In the list of fixes for the patch I do not see any mention of improvements in multi player performance. The games I have played so far are very laggy. Even in siggle player as soon as you start having tanks blowing up evrything slows down. The PC I have is a reasonable size (3,0GHZ, 2GB RAM, 256MB Geforce FX 5700LE, Fast Broadband connection).
