First up, iam new here and thus dont know whats what, i do understand modding for various other games so iam not new to the whole idea of modding, iam just lost since i dont know where to start looking for midding tools.

I have always wanted to mod for this game, but there was nothing avaliable for me to use when FoW came out. I am now revisiting the game, and am very interested in modding for single player missions and maps.

Please may someone point me in the right direction so i can get a basic tutorial and modding tools.

Notepad or Notepad ++, for editing vehicle values, there just in basic .def and such files: http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

The only things you must pay for is Milkshape 3d (Cheap) or 3DS Max (exspensive), Everything els is legaly free, those 2 arnt..

What about battle creation on an existing map. Is there any scripting tools, and what resource is used for placing units on the map. Or is that all done in the gem editor?

Also is there a good tactical mod out. a scenario that creates an infantry heavy battle without alot of trigger scripting?

This engine would make an awesome theatre of war clone.

GEM editor does it all, F1 for playing around, F2 for editing terrain & buildings & such, F3 for placing units and vehicles and such.
Use the num pad numbers to change sides (only works in F1 or F3).

Also, I've played Theatre of war demo, very bad game imo.. But Faces of War uses too many polys on terrain(on max grid size) so you need a powerfull pc to have battles of the same scale because of that.
It would make for an awesome large scale game if they would increase the polys of the terrain size.. Theatre of war is more the clone due to it coming later imo, just FoW not having the same scale size.
Results in long loading times to load the map also..

The dynamic campaign works pretty good. Thanks for that. I had to unpak the maps to get it to work. But the readme explained that.

One mission didn't trigger a win. The one where you have to occupy a spot on the casement of a coastal defence position. But otherwise its good.

Good to hear Smile, Check out Zeke's vehicle pack for DCG, adds quiet a few SDKFZ 251 varients. (unless youve already got it :P)

Any bugs or problems you get you should post on that topic about. (unless its been posted about befor)
