I just bought the game, I really like it i think it can be very fun with the right mod.

What is the most popular mod these days that most people play?

I am a big fan of Close Combat series, is there a mod that makes FOW like that? I think if a mod like this exists it will increase range of all weapons and decrease their efficiency accordingly (amongst other things as FOW by default tends to be very very close ranged oriented.

Yes, There are a few, the newest being BTRH2 and Dogs of War.
