My first impression....you can't really compare the two.
IMHO they are completely different. The game play is a little more 'intense' in FoW. COH is a little more 'arcade-ish', fun...I smile a little more, but not as 'intense'. If you couldn't 'slow this game down'...I wouldn't play it. My blood pressure would 'deny me access' |

Company of heroes and Faces Of War are 99%Completly diffrent. That 1% is only because their bolth World War II games. Company Of Heroes focuses on the Americans and Germans. Faces Of War Focuses on Western and Eastern front. COH's Gameplay is large scale combat, why FOW's is more Smaller and Tactial. Though there are maps like Lublin, Normandy, Walchern have large scale combat, BUTyou don't control all of them in FOW, only a small group.
The cover is also diffrent. COH cover: A shield indicates the type of cover your men are taking. Green:Heavy Cover. Yellow: Light cover. FOW Cover: There is nothing to indicate how good your cover is, so you gotta use the noggin. More realistic that way. I do like the Fow Cover system more, and there is much more you can use. In COH bullets go through tanks that are not destroyed. :I Graphics/Sound: Well, COH graphics are awesome, you just gotta admit it. Also the sound is rivets you in the seat. but FOW's G/S is very good also. also COH is EXTREMLY DIFFRENT by having Specific units. Such As Volksgrenaders and Knights Cross holders. Why FOW dosent have "unit types", just their names. Overall: There very differnt in approach, Large Scale (COH) Tactial (FOW). But there bolth awesome games. I enjoy bolth of them so much. 8600GT, AMD Athalon Dual core I play bolth games well. Fow gets Lag when goin online. While COH online is just like SP when goin online. FOW: Framerates: Non-action/Action/Heavy/zoomed action 45 FPS. Nuke: Depends on map: Sometimes 3FPS usally. COH: Framerates: Taken from Pefomance test. Light action: 45-50FPS, zoomed in: 75FPS, heavy action: 35: Flat down:35. FOW was run on highest settings. CoH was run on 1 bar from max detail, anti an on, and most stuff on high. It was run at these settings and those were the framerates I recived. Used fraps. To overall they have diffrent aproaches, but their bolth awesome games. Fow Tactial and and inventory syestem make it fun and unique. While COH's candy and large scale approach makes it fun to play. |

Well actualy the things I think is a big difference is skirmish
realistic gameplay. And when you get your hands on the Mission editor you will have alot more fun Making big battles etc. But stay with FoW and get a Soul |

Because you can change their stuff. Like for example you start with a tank crew man with a pistol and leather helmet. You change pistol to thompson and leather helmet to ranger helmet and get some body armor... He's not realy a "tank crew man" anymore ? |

FoW does have specific unit types.
A rifle man has a better skill level at using rifles and a SMG man has a better skill level at using SMG's, tankmen only have 75hp and have **** lvls at using most all weapons, while most troops have 100hp and even 125hp. So there is specific unit types actualy. The only problem is, in FoW it dosn't show there skill level, you must look in the code, but in the addon it shows there skill level. Anyway the community has moved to http://www.digitalmindsoft.eu/forums/index.php Men of War is the sequel, sign up for the beta. |
