Got an interesting problem. Every time I open up a menu item or try to access loot inventory in-game, the CPU usage shoots up to 100% and lags the game for a bit. If I'm playing online, it gives the synch error to the other players until the game finally responds for me again.

I'm running the 1.04.1a patch.

In the OPTIONS menu, under GAME settings make sure you have NOT checked "slow down during inventory exchange". Other than this, I don't know what it could be.

Not that kind of slowdown.

I'm talking about stuff like when I click on anything during the main menu the game just hangs for a bit. In fact, it seems to do it anytime the game generates a new menu/window/drop down.

Doesn't happen when I'm accessing the inventory of the unit I have selected, or change his weapon/ammo, but when I loot a body or a vehicle? Game freezes for a bit.

I guess they're related to the other menu pausing, but I don't have the faintest as to why.

Hmm, that is odd. Yesterday I was playing a mission and I got to a part where some enemy tanks rolled in and every time they fired their canons, the game froze for almost 2 seconds and it would pause again just before the shell hit. This never happened when I played this mission before and it hasn't happened yet in other missions, I wonder if it's related to what you're seeing?

You mean like when a SOUND is run/loaded? I really wish you'd try playing without sound effects to see the difference...

It's called process of elimination.

Uh, why would this happen the 3rd time playing this mission when I haven't changed the settings? Sound effects play just fine. And just so you know, game still paused when sounds were off. I'll let you know how things go the 4th time I play...if I play that mission again. And if you were talking to Taerkar, what SOUND is loaded/played when one checks the inventory of a dead body? If you're going to be pompous when offering advice, at least make it relevant.....

ps. thank you for teaching me how to test a game...I guess my 20 years of experience didn't teach me about the process of elimination Mocking

Taerkar, do you have PowerDVD installed?

I had the exactly same problem you described in the first message and I got rid of it by killing the "PowerDVD RC service" -process before starting Faces of War.
