Hi everyone sorry if this has been posted before the forum is quite large but you seem like friendly folk so ...

First my system specs:
CPU: AMD X2 3.1 GHz
Graphics: 512m geforce 9600gt (check below for drivers)
Ram: 3GB
sound: on board AC97 codec
MOBO: dont know but its never showed problems in the year I've had it
OS: Vista 32bit

I've had silenthunter 4 about a year and upon hearing about the upcomming SHV I thought I'd best get playing!

So I installed the game, updated the game to 1.4 and started playing through the training stuff. And no more than 5 or so minutes in the screen blacks, sound starts looping the last few seconds of music that was playing and my display loses signal and starts saying "no signal" as it would if the pc is off (implying a graphics failure I guess).

I've tried everything thats in my knowledge of pcs to sort it, I trawled this forum and carried out several suggestions, Ive updated to the latest nvidia drivers (i was previously running the 1.8 set) and it still does it and I've checked the nvidia graphics manager and set every setting possible to app controlled incase that was interfering but still it crashes.

Bit desperate now lol

I tell a lie sorry the sound card says realtek HD sound ,,, but I'm not sure it that is infact an AC97 tself,,,so I leave that to you to determine :S lol

Since you have Vista on your computer the first I would ask is, where do you have SHIV installed. If you have it in the default setting of ProgramFiles\Ubisoft\WOTP, you'll need to uninstall it and reinstall it. For some reason when SHIV is installed in the Program Files on your C: drive it causes all kind of disruption to the game.

yes I read about this on another post and tried. Its now installed in C\SH4 but the problem still persists.

I also had a look at your SH4 guide and tried instaling and making sure I restarted and defragged before trying the game again, still not solved the fault
