I downloaded coop files for GRAW2, they were .rar files. So I uncompressed them, and put the resulting "bundle" files in the mods folder, located here:

c:\\program files\ubisoft\ghost recon advanced warfighter 2\mods

After placing the "bundle" files in the mods folder, I tried connecting to the coop matches but it still says I do not have the map. Am I doing something wrong to install the coop maps? Is that the proper folder to place them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If there is a guide going through the proper installation process for mods for GRAW2, can someone post the url?

By the way, I have never experienced this much high maintenance in installing new maps for a game. All my other games do it automatically. There should not be this much footwork. What's with this?

You need to
Unrar the files to the custom_levels folder

Hey it worked, thanks for the reply. It's pretty finicky though. The unrared files were put into folders & it won't work if you put the entire folder in the Custom_levels folder. You have to take each bundle file out individually & place them there (without being in any sub-folder).

I still think it's too much footwork for a game though. I'm used to clicking on a new map & then the game automatically starts downloading & installing it for you without you having to do anything.

Again, thanks for the response. There are apparently some people here who experience geeky pleasure that they know how to do something & you don't, even if it's as petty as this simple procedure (these are the types of people that never get dates). I hope you all realize the more people that know how to do these procedures, the more people there will be for co-op & other maps & hence a better multi-player experience for all of us.

It's not "geeky pleasure".

It's just plain laziness.

Why should we continue to type some instructions over and over again because someone else is too lazy to use the "search" function in a forum?

I did a search on "install custom maps" and got 15 hits... some of which contained the instructions right there on the search results.

Sheesh.

The game doesn't have an "auto map download". Either deal with it or go play some other game.

There is no reason to be snide because of your ignorance.

AJRobson, I had already checked several posts on this site & all over the internet as well. Sure the instructions are typed over & over but they are giving wrong information (for example some said to put it in the "mods" folder) & others are not detailed enough (notice how detailed I initially started this post). As another example just look at the answer in this thread (which I do appreciate thanks bg_1944) - it's simply not enough to just say "custom_levels" folder because the unrared files cannot be in any sub-folder within that folder (many of the .rar programs unpack to a subfolder) - if it's in a subfolder then it won't work even though it's in the "custom_levels" folder. Believe me I spent a lot of time with trial & error through other people's suggestions before starting this post & I guarantee you there will be others in the future who will still be asking because of the reasons above and also, alot of the mod creators do not leave text files with specific instructions about the files, that could alleviate alot of confusion. Now don't you think me just spending a few more minutes just now to explain this has probably just saved significant others from confusion from the same problem?

There will also continue to be confusion & people asking the same questions because of yes, the "geeky pleasures" of certain people. There are some people who genuinely try to help & there are others who won't because they feel good about themselves & think it makes them more intelligent than someone who knows less than them (when in actuality they probably know less). The type of people I'm talking about get off on the fact that they can get it running and you can't. Maybe it's not you, it's not in my vocabulary either, but these types of people are out there.

So that's why I was asking if there's some standard guide written somewhere by an expert source (ideally should be ubisoft) to explain in detail the process of adding custom maps. They should have a separate section on this site with such a guide. I know they are not the creators of mods & therefore do not support them but it would still be responsible of them to outline the process & then put a disclaimer that they aren't responsible for these mods. Either that or the modders should leave text files with more explicit instructions...

You are right the path for GRAW2
"C:\Program Files\UBISOFT\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2\custom_levels"

and the path for GRAW:
"C:\Program Files\UBISOFT\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\custom_levels"
