If a Ubisoft rep asked you about Ghost Recon and how you would want it to progress.
Lets forget the last three years. Imagine it is still 2004. My reply would be the following. I love the game the way it is please dont make any major changes. Improve the game graphics. Improve the respawn methods. Release a lot more content. Maps Missions Game types It has a unique feeling to it dont what ever you do lose that. This is me what about you, what would you say to this rep. Remember its 2004. Some of you might be tempted here to blow a gasket, remember your TOS and remember it is 2004. Some of you may think what is the point, there is one believe me, just bear with me on this. This message has been edited. Last edited by: ColinCJ, |

Please whatever you do, optimize the engine, make more graphics options available in game. Make it more friendly for mid systems.
Update: - Make the man you are controling more fluid, "he" feels kind of "stiff/slow" in GR, make the movements more controlable - Impliment jump, but make it so you cant jump and than follow up by a jump at once, to prevent bunnyjumping. - Use as little scripted events as possible. Do not try to fix what is not broken... The wheel has already been invented, all you need to do is improve it... utilize the technology to improve graphics, weapons, structures, AI, engine... Don't use Tom Clancy's name in vein, use another name to come up with a new gameplay for your games but leave this one as is.
---------------- 0 ----------------- 0------------- What does it take to get a simeple answer from UBI about the PC? GRAW I & II, Vegas 1 & 2 were throwned to the Lion's den and now FC2 is going to suffer the same fate? How Proud are you UBI? |

I hope you dont mind me quoting you but yes exactly, just load up the game and play it for a month, you will know what to do. |

Gameplay is key. The pace of the game. The way your character moves etc. Doesn't matter what else you do, if it isn't fun to play it won't last. Sound is important too. I think it goes a long way to immersing the player in the game. Suspending reality for a short time... like in a movie. Together sound and gameplay draw you in. You have to believe you're in a jungle or in the desert and that you can approach a target in a certain way. Change the graphics, change the weapons, change the locations, update the AI.... but don't change gameplay.
I will say one thing though about the old game, I was always more of a Rainbow Six fan more so than a Ghost Recon fan but still.... I liked playing GR. I think the biggest reason was to do with big outdoor maps. Anyway, the movement of the characters never really impressed me and I often wished they would 'fix' it. The characters just seemed uncoordinated to me the way they kind of lumbered along. But anyway.... gameplay is the biggest thing to me. And I agree that if you want to know what gamers are looking for... become a gamer. Get to know what it is they appreciate and stick with a formula that works. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. |

Colin, I would really love to ask where your going with this. But im sure its confidential.
My answer would be. 1. Slightly enhance the graphics. 2. Take me to another location. Weve been to russia, tropical islands, deserts. lol now mexico. 3. give me more game modes that dont have to be modded into the game. 4. Give me better weapons selections than what is in GR1. |

Drop the Ageia graphics, make the maps bigger, and be able to enter buildings for use as cover. If that company Grin are reading this then how about an add-on with all that is posted in this topic.

Olie a small adjustment
Use OGR as your starting point and don't stray too far from that formula. This message has been edited. Last edited by: ColinCJ, |

Please remember its 2004.
Lets also assume the game will stay in house. |

In house a game that is developed within Ubisoft not farmed out to other Development.
Try and keep the post lean and mean to the point. The above answers so far are on the right track, just need a couple thousand more now. |

I would want to get a wow feeling, possibly in form of a completely new gametype never seen before.. a gametype that makes you think "Wow, why haven't anyone thought of this before?!" something like CSR made by Cangaroo.TNT..
Put the WOW feeling into the game.. --- XLive Gamertag: Mysticaly PC Gamernick: Mysticaly, See you around |

The real problem is, I can't remember what I ate yesterday! How will I remember days of year 2004 =p
I liked Vegas movement control (hide behind doors, corners...) What about some of Hollywood effects? "Minority report" stuff... Increase the random generated content ingame, as it will make the game fun to replay! I am giving thoughts (For free, u can hire me if you want) Ideas are unlimited! Sadly the cost isn't! #What if we mixed both GR1 with GTA (Grand Theft Auto) and make a combination of the both # = ignore. |

Interesting post Colin.
If anything like this was to come to light, I would suggest the developers spending a few days playing GR1, and looking at the overall structure. Bring back the Bino`s, this has to include longer draw distance, plus a lot more variety in characters. Makes GR1 what it is, being able to spot a patrol and call off the actors by clothes and weapons they carry. Bring bach the RECON. Simple mode of reach a zone undetected. (Impossible to produce at the moment with the AI detection in use.) Releasing more content. I thought there was more than enough in GRAW2, they just didn`t make all the maps suitable for all the modes. Which was the biggest killer for co-op and TvT. We need more than 4 in MP Co-Op, understanding the limits, even 6 would be a improvement. Co-Op Tournaments! < Observer mode / Replays / Server-Sided Mission Scripts. Server sided kit restrictions. No restrictions / Pistols only / Primary only / Frags only... More open gametypes. Able to effectively move around a map in teams undetected, counting patrols and formulating a plan. More vehicles that are made for the player platoon for Inserts and so. Bring back the boat too! Bring back the command map for all modes and lose the eye in the sky. Better helicopters, either SP only or make them carry more than enough people. Doors are a must, only need a few per map, but in the right places, makes some good experiences. Being able to run different mods at the same time with no conflicts. Understanding the easier it is to mod, the easier it could be to cheat, but in a way, the system right now is not so bad. Direct IP connect is another important ingredient everyone had cried for. Phew, I was only meant to post, "And here`s to hope!" More to follow.... Tinker |

The MP COOP Mission side of the game was great any thing less than what was in the original would kill it dead.
Three squads nine player all with the same capabillities. Snipe said it well dont change something that works already its what made the game great, dont change it just dust it off and polish it some. |

Here’s an idea! OGR and Raven Shield! Combine the both, have the maps from the OGR, update them, and make them really big!
Random Enemy Generator! Every time that you start to play the game, the enemy won’t spawn in the same place…that’s what we all want! Change the kit to what colour we want – DPM, Woodland, Flecktarn – go on forever. I would like to infiltrate a large base, to meet up with an accomplice on a so-called-mission. |

The original game already had a WOW feeling and many others too. But to add to this would be very good indeed. Explain the CSR for me. or link. |

There you go Redstorm - get to work!
