Problem:
GRAW - I can launch the game fine, but once I finish the map and try to load the next map it
hangs and alt+ctrl+del shows "not responding"

I'm using
Vista x64 Ultimate with SP1 RC
All the latest drivers
GRAW is patched to 1.35 and I'm using administrator mode.

Plays fine, until I have to advance to a new map. The icon in the bottom right doesn't spin
and it never loads the next map.

My career consists of 1 mission, because I cannot get any farther due to the next map lockup.

My MP gameplay goes like this, play 1 coop map and watch GRAW hang the app after the mission ends.

Close GRAW, reopen it, sign back into mp, and finally rejoin the server.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS??????

Can anyone tell me, how to make GRAW download maps automatically and not require restarts?

1.- You are Using Vista... crappy OS and GRAW was not optimized for it IIRC.
2.- You are using SP1 RC... as far as I can remember that would mean a BETA, right? Possible No-No.
3.- No pc specs... hard to help from there.
4.- Latest drivers? can you post your driver versions both for Sound & video... don't bother if you don't post your specs as it won't help either.

After posting all this, we might be able to decipher your issue. As it stand it might just be an OVERHEAT issue.

What does it take to get a simeple answer from UBI about the PC? GRAW I & II, Vegas 1 & 2 were throwned to the Lion's den and now FC2 is going to suffer the same fate? How Proud are you UBI?

The posts above say most really.

Graw 1 was not made for Vista more so with sp1.

Many of us had exactly the same issue.

This fix did work on many but not all.

Remove game and reg clean details out of system.

Update all drivers.
Chipset
GPU
Sound
run a good driver remover as explained in the sticky here.

Install afresh all.

Make sure game is run under xp mode not vista mode, ie after install run under xp enviroment.

This may do the trick.

1). 1.- You are Using Vista... crappy OS and GRAW was not optimized for it IIRC.

2.- You are using SP1 RC... as far as I can remember that would mean a BETA, right? Possible No-No.

I have to disagree in the opinion of vista:
I have been using vista since January 31, 2007. To be honest I wouldn't go back to XP SP2. XP may be slightly faster, but its not much with a clean SP1 RC install. Keyword being "clean" look at my install proceedure.

Installing drivers over drivers and hotfixes over hotfixes... Sure you'd have tons of problems which is why I avoided all of that.

I have never had any other problems with games or other software compatibility until GRAW.

I did a fresh partition reinstall yesterday
-Installed neccessary drivers
-Installed Vista SP1 RC "Very first software install" to make sure the OS was clean

Next was these in order of install:
-Window Updates and Security Software
-Nvidia Vista Hotfixes and DirectX Re-dist
-Xvid 1.1.2 and x64 Components (64-Bit codecs)
-Flash and Silverlight
-Finally I installed my games

Drivers were brand new and SP1 RC was the very first thing after drivers.

Here is a link to a SP1 arcticle
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=104221&page=2

showing what it did for crysis.

2). 3.- No pc specs... hard to help from there.

You can see my PC specs here:
My PC Specs with images

Hope you like Cool

3). Latest drivers? can you post your driver versions both for Sound & video

You betcha
15.08 nforce vista64
169.28 forceware vista64
X-Fi series Vista Driver 2.15.0004

The only thing I didn't do was defrag:
I use Power Defragmenter GUI and contig 1.54

Since you commented on vista, I'll tell you the only complaints I have about it.

My only two complaints with Vista:
-No Rhapsody for 64-Bit
I use Live365, but it just isn't the same. You can't login to a radio station and skip tracks till you find a song you like.
-Microsofts decision to give us a very basic "non-informative" defrag tool.

What I like about vista:
-Very stable when you don't mix drivers and hotfixes.

which brings me back to why I formatted my drive yesterday:

I knew installing SP1 over hotfixes would cause compatibility problems so I dumped the drive and made sure sp1 followed directly after drivers.

-DX10 (XP doesn't have it)
-64-Bit true "4GB+ RAM support" XP/Vista 32-Bit /PAE switch just doesn't cut it.
-64-Bit extensions for C++ Programmers
-64-Bit memory allocation in games

I will say, that I see a noticable increase using SP1 RC over non-SP1. The problem of windows opening slow and IE7 taking awhile to sync up in completely gone.

===
run a good driver remover as explained in the sticky here.

I cannot use any of these:
-When I use a driver cleaner whether its 3dguru's, driver cleaner 3.0, and others.
-Safe Mode, driver cleaner app
-Search "nvidia display"
-delete inf's
-reboot "Network stack is just gone"

My PC removes the network stack on my 680i completely. Even uninstalling and reinstalling motherboard drivers doesn't restore the network connectivity. My only option is to reinstall the OS.

"Media disconnected" - Green lights and everything on cable modem. (Its a vista problem, but aslong as I don't run any driver cleanup apps it doesn't happen.)

To get around this, I use this: Update Example
-Uninstall 169.13
-Boot and install 169.17

Just a side note make sure you have this updated on your sound card too.
http://www.soundblaster.com/alchemy/

The only thing in vista that I have seen that removes internett access is in vista 64 is dvd copy software, 1click dvd copy is one.

Have not used sp1 in vista yet, its current state for gameing most of us are still xp.

Most net tests say vista is still behind xp re gameing and will stay there for some time to come.

We do as a forum use vista though test games and see what the story is, graw 1 does not work well on vista.

Dissagreeing with me is a very simple thing to do and you may or may not be right, it won't change the Fact that Vista is an Eye Candy Turd and it doesn't work half as good as XP does when it comes to Games... Any GAME!!!

But hey... I am not the one having problems with the Game with my lowly XP OS, now am I? Wink2

Food for Though... dual boot!
