Teaser: Weapon Pack v1.4 - Teaser Movie

quote:
v1.4 Additions
This is actually a pretty big addition to the mod and goes beyond just weapons. However, in the interest of continuity I’m leaving it as a weapons pack. About two and a half weeks ago(now 3), I began experimenting with the Ghost models to see if something could be done like in GRAW1 with the player’s team using the Mexican Special Forces model. Turns out it was pretty easy to do, but opened up a lot of possiblities for changing the look of the Ghosts.

I didn’t feel just swapping bodies with the enemy and changing some camo patterns was significant enough to warrant a release on its own. Therefore, I decided to add a few weapons, gear, and finally made an eotech sight. I picked the M4 Combat Shotgun since I thought it would be fairly unique and easy to build. Turns out that may have been a mistake as you will see in the future. I also put in a Sig552 Commando since it fits close to some of the in-game animations and I’ve always thought it was a nice looking weapon. Both can be used as secondary weapons, but the Sig552 can also be used as a primary.

To finish things off, I put in some new headgear for the Ghosts to further distinguish them. It doesn’t seem like much, but was quite an undertaking to get working correctly. A ballcap, boonie hat, and mich2001 helmet with or without nightvision. I customized each Ghost to look a bit unique in single player, but also converted the multiplayer portion of the game to use this new gear and uniforms.

Sig552 Commando
·available as primary or secondary
·semi auto, burst, and full auto fire modes
·custom tweaked sounds
·suppressor attachment
·multiple scope attachments
·working ironsights

Eotech
·built an eotech sight and added it to the following weapons:
·M16A4, M4A1, M468, Sig552, Rx4, M416, Scar L, Scar H

Multiplayer Kits
·added new kits to take advantage of the Sig552

Benelli M4 Shotgun
·available as a secondary weapon
·aimpoint or ironsights
·custom tweaked sounds

New Look Ghosts
·new gear and unifrom for each Ghost
·ballcap with or without headset
·boonie hat
·mich2001 with or without nightvision, up or down
·used in multiplayer as well as single player

New Look Marines
·new gear and unifrom for USMC in sp
·use M16A4s and M4A1s

This is essentially the same as v1.4 except it takes into account the new patch1.05. Some of the things I want to add or change will take a bit of time, so I'm just releasing this compatible version for 1.05. The attachment id# still appears to be an issue for mp, so I've left this in the local folder method. Installation is still the same however, just extract and go. Read the docs for further info, but there is no bundle in this version. Makes for a smaller file too ~77megs and may alleviate some of the install problems people were having.

GL count fix for v1.41

That should fix the GL count from 0 to 4. Just unzip to your main Graw2 dir. If you renamed the mod, it will just make a new folder for it with the sb_templates inside.

Adding more grenades for mp or coop is done in the coop_templates and mp_templates. lib/managers/xml

New MultiPlayer Version: Weapon Pack v1.47 - FileFront link <also works with sp same as v1.41+GL fix>

This is not so much of a new version as it is a reworking of attachment id#s to see if I can get it to work in multiplayer modes online. The single player portion should function exactly the same as v1.41.

For multiplayer, I renumbered the attachments and tried to keep as many of the original weapons as possible. However, since there are only 31 available, I had to make some cuts. Unfortunately, I had to get rid of the M8, Mrc, M416, and M99.

I've been cursious to try this and see if it helps, but didn't want to get deep into cutting things out, axeing kits, reordring the numbers. However, someone actually wanted to put up a dedicated server with this mod, so I figured I'd at least give it a shot. It's very difficult to test because the problem with the attachments is only visible during mp online mode, and sometimes hard to get in touch with people to try out.

Installation is the same, just unzip to your Graw2 dir and it will overwrite your context.xml. As this is a mod for online play, it uses the mod bundle method, which I think is pretty important if this is going to be something someone can use on a dedicated server.

Rats, this is killing me, I know I did something wrong but I just don't know what, exactly Wink2

I download the 1.4 weapon pack and dumped it on my GRAW 2 installed folder, I opened it there as stated and all went smooth.

I get to the game and I can see the new skinz (Tre Cool bTW!) but... I can't see the new weapons anywhere?

I am going to try to make the changes manually but I just wanted to see if everyone else was on the same boat I was.

Help me Obi Wan Kenobee... you're my only hope! Veryhappy

Someone else had this exact problem. I think what is happening is you have v1.2 still installed somehow and it's over-riding the mod? Or you have your context.xml point to the wrong local language folder. It should be v1.4

ok, V1.2 was/is still installed as I never uninstalled it but, why would the skinz work and not the weapons? How do I uninstall v1.2 again?

Now, what do I do in order to fix this little snafu I have caused Wink2 Veryhappy

This is my context.xml

Anything in the local folder is going to over-ride anything in the mod folder if the context.xml is pointing to it. In other words, you can mod the mod. So, it seems like you must have another entry for bp_weapons_pack_v1.2 in your context xml possibly.

When you say the new weapons don't show up, what exactly do you mean? In sp mode, coop, mp?

I only play SP mode.

The New skins show for Mitchell and the Tangos but not the weapons.

Here's the whole context.xml file, I have to assume it is the one I got from the v1.4 file I opened?

Well, you could try a fresh install of Graw2, then patch it to 1.04 and do a manual install of the mod in case there was something in your xlm that doesn't like mine.

The only other things I can think of is possibly not enough memory, but the whole thing just seems strange.

One other thing to try if you have a single cpu. Try changing this line in the context.xml:

<physics settings="\data\settings\physics_settings.xml" fps="60" physx_effects="hardware_or_disabled" multithreaded="true" />

so that multithreaded="false"

Not sure if that will help or not.

Bret your weapons are cool. I like the new uniforms, but I can't swallow the baseball cap guy. Is there a way to keep the weapons and do away with the baseball cap uniform?

E6300 @ 2.1GHZ
2 BFG 7800 GTX O/C factory settings
2 GB OCZ SLI 1066mhz RAM
600w PSU

I think I am cover and v1.2 seemed to worked perfectly but you may be right, I may need to do a new installation, I am just to lazy to do so, I may try that route once patch 1.05 is out to see what happens.

Thanks nonetheless for going beyond the call of duty! Wink2

One guy said he had success if he either renamed or removed the English folder. Here's his quote:

I downloaded WP v1.4 and unziped to the GR2 main folder. I had the problem where I was getting the skins but not the weapons. When I renamed the ENGLISH folder the new weapons showed up. I guess this means you can't have English in the folder. My English was the rename of WPv1.2. Hopes this helps.

Yes. If you know how to unbundle the bundle? You can edit the ghost_templates.xml and customize the headgear for all of them. The notes on how to do it are right at the top of that xml. It's pretty straightforward. I recommend a program called xml marker for editing. Color coats the xml making it easier to understand.

Do you know how to unbundle the bundle file? Put everything inside the local folder with the sound and movies. Then delete the bundle and remove the line in the context xml that points to the bunlde. That will probably solve your problems I'm hoping.

Funny, the only reason I went with this two style method was to see if mp would work beyond attachment id#31. It didn't, so this was kind of pointless. Perhaps the new patch will help, but this method seems to cause more problems for people for some reason.

---------------------------For Easy Customization without unbundling-------------------------------

If you don't want to unbundle the whole thing, but still want to be able to customize the headgear or ammo counts, you can download this file and unzip it into your main Graw2 dir. It should put the lib folder in the correct place if you did the normal installation. If not, just move it to whatever folder you have the files in.

bp_weapons_pack_v1.4/lib directory and files

It's very small, less then 1meg.

ghost_templaters for headgear
weapon_data for ammo

OK, that seemed to do the trick as I now have the skinz and the weapons.

I am now a mean, lean & lethal weapon machine with my MK12 as a sniper and my Sig552 as back up. thread lightly boyz and girlz and hope (for your sake) our paths don't cross!!! Veryhappy

I had 3 sub folders inside the Local folder, bp_weapons pack v1.4, English & English.bak (I guess this is when I made the back up for V1.2). the only thing I did was to rename the English folder & English.bak to "Rename English & Rename English.bak" and leave the bp_weapons_pack v1.4 alone.

It is possible that you could leave the English.bak folder alone (ie: W/O having to rename it) but I did it for effect and good measure. Wink2

Again, thanks brettzies

You probably installed it correctly, it's just that something on your computer doesn't like it. Basically something is probably being read somewhere and over-riding the mod. The best way around this is to unbundle it.

see post #70

Further in that thread I think on page 9 are instructions on how to unbundle it.

Sorry this caused such a headache, it was suppose to make things easier. Most likely I am going back to the folder method for the next release.
