Hi all,
I am new to this site and have just purchased GRAW. Well I installed it fine and then when i go to play, as it is loading, suddenly an error message pops up stating "Crash in application version: grpcrc1.02 Failed setting up render device." I have no idea why. I am running Vista not sure if that has anything to do with it. Any ideas? AJ |

Please visit your sound, video, and 3D card manufacturer's websites for the most recently available drivers for the components in your system.
AND YES your card is OK but is your direct 9 driver updated?? just trying to help |

It looks like you need a new video card to play this game, like an nVidia 7800 at least. If you can afford a 8800gt that would certainly be much better. I've been down this road before and all my problems were sorted with a new card. It took me a while to save up though. The nVidia 8800gt is fantastic and it can eat up the current games. I've only got an old AMD 3700 CPU and the game runs very smoothly. I'm saving up to get a dual core and a new motherboard. You can get a 8800gt for £158.00 which I believe is the cheapest. They're in high demand. I got mine from Amazon.

I don't mean to offend but why in the world would spend money on a computer that has a duo core and only get 1Gb of Ram, let alone not opt for a stand alone video card if your intentions are to play games? Hell, there is no bigger noob than myself when it comes to computers and I even know that. But I digress, never trust what your friend "the know-it all" tells you, never, under no circumstances trust the sales man trying to sell you an outdate machine like if it was the newest thing out there (he is only doing his job... selling!)... trust yourself and start getting smart on your purchases by reading and googling everything an anything you like to purchase, be it eggs, shampoo or toothbrush to answer your question, NO, I don't really believe there is an onboard video card capable of handling any of the newer games out there and if it does, it will be in the lowest settings available and you'll always lag, freeze and spit frames per second while playing for long periods of time. Before you go spending any money on upgrades, check your motherboard, check your power supply, check your case to see if they are any good and if they support whatever you think you want to add up to it, otherwise, you'll be just wasting more money again. Just to give you a hint and because I woke up all nice and fresh this morning, he's a little crash course on what PC rig you can have if you are planning on playing more FPS games. If Windows XP Pro /WSP2 is your OS: Motherboard: 590i, 680i comparable or greater CPU: Your CPU is more than adecuate. Ram: 2GB of good ram (400mhz or higher) Video: 8800 GT (Best bang for buck) or compatible. Yes, 7000 series will suffice but you'll be back where you are in no time. Sound: Onboard is fine, stand alone is always better PSU: 500w minimum HDD: Sata 7200rpm or higher If using Vista, pretty much all bets are off but at least you need 4GB of very good ram and hope for the best. YES, the PC gurus will tell you that Vista is fine because they can tweak here and there to make it work but ask yourself this question... are YOU capable of tweaking on your own??? ---------------- 0 ----------------- 0------------- What does it take to get a simeple answer from UBI about the PC? hey all-
Thanks for all of the replies. I just wanted to clarify why I bought this computer with the specs it has. Want2Snipe I do know what I was buying when I bought it, I am actually extremely computer savvy. I know exactly what I needed at the time of the purchase and that was something with a good processor that I would be able to install more RAM and a new GPU in the future and that is exactly what I bought. I understand how some would make such a mistake in a purchase but I did it purposely due to finances. I just didnt think that GRAW would be so graphic demanding but I guess I was wrong. I just wanted a game to play for my entertainment at the time. I do plan on upgrading my system in the near future to enable me to play almost any game but until then I will settle for what I have which I am not complaining about. I hope none of this portays me as ignorant because that is the least I am trying to be,honestly. Again thanks to all that replied, it was extremely helpful!! AJ |

Hey, if you are computer savvy... more power to you and if you did it deliberately, nobody can blame you for this because the game state some requirements when in thruth, you need something twice that powerful to make it run.

I absolutely agree with Want2Snipe about reviewing your whole system and getting the right pc components to play today's games, i.e. if you want great graphics, smmoth running and no crashes. You need to spend money and get a high spec system if you want to play today's games; also plan for the future. That way you'll save more money in the long run. I saved up and changed my whole system. I was lucky because I knew a computer wizard who built my computer from bare bone components and that was 18 months ago. All I need to do now is to upgrade my motherboard, cpu and increase the RAM from 2G to 4G.
