Has anyone figured out what this part of the XML(in Red) does exactly...
Example: <variable name="texture_managed_backdrop" value="false"/> What does the Textured Managed do and why are most on False... would they be better if all were True. I couldn't tell when I tried. I answered my own question. Keep reading below as the answer to my own question ended up being one of the best tweaks yet for overall performance. This message has been edited. Ok guys I ran some test on my own and figured out what the Textured Managed does. The more of these you make True, the more resources you'll need on your PC. This is really good for those of you who have 2 or more GIGs of RAM. I am one of those fortunate and now my game runs smooth as hell on all Textures High. The game preloads more information to your RAM which improves overall performace. With all the values on True my game uses about 1.2 GIGs of RAM. This tweak is only good for those of you who have more than one GIG of RAM.
For those of you who haven't figured out were the XML file is yet, here's the location below: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Demo\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter Demo\Data\settings Then Open the Renderer_Settings XML Document with Notepad. Edit the values you want and hit save. Before messin with this file you should make a backup. Enjoy Below are the Default XML settings for my system: 1. On the lines that say the following: <variable name="texture_managed_Whatever" value="false"/> Every time you make one of these True you'll use more RAM on your system for that specific Texture or Effect. 2. One the lines that say the following: <variable name="texture_quality_whatever" value="medium"/> You have the option to change those Values to Low, Medium, High, or even Disable(Not sure why you would). Obviouly depending on what you use your Texture Quality will change accordingly. <render_config> <d3d_device adapter = "Your Own Video Card" driver = "Waht Ever.dll" resolution = "Whatever Res you chose inside game" windowed = "false" refresh_rate = "Whatever Hz you Picked in Game" /> <render_settings> DEFAULT SETTINGS FOR texture_managed Values <variable name="aspect_ratio" value="0"/> <variable name="brightness" value="1"/> <variable name="dynamic_lights" value="true"/> <variable name="effect_quality" value="medium"/> <variable name="max_anisotropy" value="4"/> <variable name="post_effect_quality" value="medium"/> <variable name="shadow_quality" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_managed_backdrop" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_buildings" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_buildings_low" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_characters" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_default" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_effects" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_ground" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_lightmaps" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_no_lod" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_plants" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_player_vehicles" value="true"/> <variable name="texture_managed_props" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_props_bump" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_props_high" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_silhouettes" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_sky" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_managed_vehicles" value="true"/> <variable name="texture_managed_weapons" value="true"/> <variable name="texture_managed_weapons_third" value="false"/> <variable name="texture_quality" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_backdrop" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_quality_buildings" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_buildings_low" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_quality_characters" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_default" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_effects" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_quality_ground" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_lightmaps" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_quality_no_lod" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_quality_plants" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_player_vehicles" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_quality_props" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_quality_props_bump" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_props_high" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_silhouettes" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_sky" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_quality_vehicles" value="medium"/> <variable name="texture_quality_weapons" value="high"/> <variable name="texture_quality_weapons_third" value="medium"/> </render_settings> </render_config> This message has been edited. Good, should perhaps be a sticky. It is a good antidote against haters but also nice ordinary dudes who likes the game.

Hmmmm???
for some reason did a copy and paste job to mine and clicked on save. but when I start the demo up and I'm at the main screen I get a pop up that says detected your video card, so I closed the game and went back and seen that it was set right back to what it was before?? as if none of the changes happen?? |

Didn't notice any difference in performance, but a slight drop in FPS nonetheless. Please note that some High settings are intended use for 512mb graphics cards.

OK guys listen up. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO COPY MY EXACT XML AND USE IT ON YOUR COMP...LOL It's an "EXAMPLE".
If you look up at the beginning of my XML it shows my Video card. If you use my XML you'll be telling your comp that your running a 7800GTX. That's why a PC my get confuse and ask to find your Video card. I'm going to try and show you what default was on my PC and I will reworks my example as a guideline...Hehehe |

lol duh, i know i didnt copy paste. but with 1gb ram, setting all to true was a disaster lol. maybe when i upgrade (soon) i will try again. all i changed were the true/false values. unfortunately didnt make a backup

You did something wrong with your Tweak because my game runs Flawlessly. I have a 7800GTX so you should be able to get the same performance increase I did. Hell you should have way better performace, you're running a TOP END system. Once you have all the Texture Managed on TRUE there's no need for a 512 Video Card because you just allocated that memory to you systems RAM as Precache. Make sure you're running the latest Nvidia Driver v84.21. That also gave me a few more FPS. The only downside to this tweak is that the game takes way longer to load. |

im running 2x6800GT in SLi with 2 gigs of ram.
after xml tweak and creative xfi tweak, im getting like 30 fps in large areas. im wonder how that endo person got all max settings with 50fps when i have medium texture settings (rest of settings same as endo) with 30fps and with 2 of his cards.
