Hi, please help, this is my first post here!.

I had a problem with my Pc and had to reset the cmos since then graw2 crashes in under a minute, the only way to get my Pc to a useable state is to do a hard reset. No error codes no message except "no signal input check video cable" then blank screen, no sound. Anyone got any ideas as it's doing my head in!. Tried uninstall/reinstall of game and gpu driver etc.

thanks for any ideas, Howz

AMD 64 x2 3800+
1Gb ram
Nvidia 7600GT
Gigabyte GA-K8ns 939 ultra mobo
XP SP2

ok, first of all, I am not a pc guru but it seems like the change of cmos and the installion of the game don't like each other. I don't understand why you had to clear your cmos but there is no need to explain that to me as it won't change the fact that you have a problem Wink2

I am also guessing that you were playing the game before w/o any issues or glitches, right?

Now, this is what I would do (and I am not stating that it will fix your problem!)... download the latest drivers for your sound and video cards and save them to a folder you know so you can get back to it later. download a fresh copy of your keyboard/mouse firmware if you can as well.

Uninstall the game, save your "Saved Games" if you don't want to loose them even though, I would just to start with a clean slate. Make sure that there are no Ubisoft or Graw folders or files on your C:\ drive (or wherever you installed the game), run a good copy of Registry cleaner.

Unistall your Video and Sound drivers... only the drivers.

Restart the pc and run the registry cleaner once again.

Cancel out of the Video and sound hardware wizard when you see it. Go to your folder with the new drivers and run the executables for each restarting after installing each one.

Install the game (DO NOT patch yet) and play it to see what it does. Patch to 1.04 if everything worked smoothly and test again.

I am tired so I might have missed out something else but I think you'll be ok... let us know!

What does it take to get a simeple answer from UBI about the PC? If you guys think the Vegas 2 forums are crowded with hate & Negative posts from the PS3 and the few 360 folks, wait until the PC game is launched... Wink2

Perhaps your vid card or a hardware device is getting hot! It might be a heat issue. Check the fans on the vid card, motherboard chipset, processor, power supply.

Thanks Guys,

Saloei, nothing wrong in that department, pc is fine

Want2snipe, yes it was working fine before. I tried what you suggested and still have the same problem, looks like I've got an expensive coaster.

Any more ideas?.

Thanks Howz

howz1972, again I am no PC guru but that error you are getting "no signal input check video cable" may point to a CMOS issue, error or heat problem.

I know the PC might work well otherwise and it is only when you launch the game that you start to have issue but it doesn't mean much that you have the game, it does mean that under load (and GRAW or GRAW 2 puts a lot of strain on your CPU/GPU/RAM) the whole thing is getting to hot for comfort or it can't stand it so it has to shut down.

Do you have any other game installed on your PC that you can try?

What are the version of your sound and video drivers? They may have become corrupted after the CMOS fiasco or reverted to windows generic drivers and this could also be part of your problem.

Aside from not being a PC guru I know nothing about AMD so I can't help any further.

Also, you may want to invest a bit on another Gig of Ram as having only 1Gig is not helping any once Graw 2 loads.

Did you have to reset CMOS due to a hard crash from overclocking?

If so, did you make sure to "unlock" your AGP port from the FSB?

Hi, I installed tomb raider anniversary and the same thing happened, so I removed gpu, cleaned, new thermal paste and resat cooler, no change, still crashes.
Updated bios, no change still crashes.
Ran dxdiag, no problems.
Ran nvidia system stability test, no problems.
Unplugged network cable switched off norton360, still crshes.
Ran nvidia monitor on secondary monitor, at time of crash temp is only 46 degrees so not a heat issue.

I'm pretty sure it must be a driver issue.

Want2Snipe, All drivers are up to date. Had to reset cmos after trying to access hdd from another pc which was not booting. I connected it up and started my pc to be met with a continuous beep from mobo speaker, reset cmos to clear it, now I have this gaming problem.

St666v, wasnt overclocked at the time, never overclocked this cpu.

Cheers

Howz

Cheers Want2Snipe, I am no longer having this problem.

I am a D**K yep a D**K!, I can't beleive what I have done. When I put that HDD in I pulled on the psu cables and pulled the connector out of my GPU, that's what was giving the beep. I didn't even realise when I took it out to reseat the cooler Blush Red Face . I cannot beleive how I missed it. So thanks for all your help, and feel free to call me names cos I deserve it for being so stupid! Too Happy With Stupid
