Guys and gals:

I'm about to upgrade to a system thats able to play both GRAW games (and mebbe others) and hope to be MultiPlaying in a month or two. But UbiSoft is stingy on its 'supported' video card specs (U Be Soft, eh?)

I want a GeForce card (no discussion pls!) and store offered to sell me the EVGA 9600GT 1GB DDR3 650MHz (237 locally). I think I only need an 8800GT 512MB DDR3 600MHz (140 at NCIX.com)

Thats over $100 savings once you tack on 14% tax (Ontario) and I can put the $ to good use elsewhere.

Anyone able to endorse the 9600GT, or confirm that the 8800GT is more than enough?

Other relevant system specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale at 3.0 GHz, 1333 FSB, 6MB cache, on an ASUS P5Q Pro P45 LGA775 DDR2 MoBo w/ 4 GB of OCZ PC2-6400 Dual-SLI Ready EPP RAM, (onboard sound) but hope to get a good audio card (rec's?)

Thanks Papa, but I went with a compromise.

Went with the ASUS EN9600GT w/ 512Mb instead, as it nets me a $20 rebate, and saves me almost $100. All the rest remains the same. And shop called: its ready to roll.

I would find the 8800GT better than the 9600GT. Get one with fans, heat sinks made me lose 250$.

You can buy a video card with a heatsink, you just have to buy a separate fan.

That's the whole point of buying a video card with only heatsinks. (well, that's open to debate, but that's one of the main reasons IMHO)

  • Even for a flop on pc i got to admit that the vision of the artist(s) for Vegas is beyond speech. What i am seeing in game now is by far the best i have seen in any other game for realism. (coding) was the problem.
  • For a community that had potential to help YOU(UBI) they are the ones lurking in the shadows waiting for something better and you refuse to help. Even yourself.? This I don't understand.
  • Release some tools to the pc community for an over all better RaInbow 6 division.
