--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.4. Bugs and Comments

Video refresh rate:
Always select the highest refresh rate supported by your monitor. This
ensures a more fluid and visually pleasing game.

**** Sound Compatibility ****

Use of HeadSet (Headphones/Microphone):

- Depending on the setup (operating system + DirectX), it
may be necessary to change the hardware acceleration (setup panel > sound > audio > sound reading > advanced).
- Some drivers apply an effect to sounds read by the PC. For some setups, this may interfere with the operation of the sound engine.
- With some cards, a half-duplex/full-duplex manual setup is possible. For this game, the card should be set up for full-duplex.
- As far as the headset is concerned, if the Internet connection is poor, there is a risk of interference or breaks in voice communication during the game.
- It is often possible to configure sound cards so that they only put out the sound signal on their digital output. In this event, you should check that this is compatible with the audio equipment used (you should use a digital amplifier connected to the digital output). See the sound card manual.
- Check that the input/output cables are correctly connected (2 cables to connect when using a headset). Do not forget that sometimes there is a volume control or a switch for the microphone on the headset lead.

**** Graphics Compatibility ****

- If the game is very slow, or the display corrupted, check that anti-aliasing is not forced at the level of the drivers. If this is the case, deactivate it.
- If your monitor switches to Energy Saving, update the drivers for your screen.

**** Network Compatibility ****

Problems with Firewalls
If you have a firewall on your Internet connection, check the "Playing on Gamespy" paragraph.

**** Hardware Compatibility ****

Motherboard drivers and BIOS settings:
If your computer does not respond, check that your motherboard drivers are up-to-date. If you have carried out changes to BIOS and the game crashes, try restoring the default settings (or security settings).

****Sticky-keys ****

It is recommended to deactivate the sticky-keys when playing. (Control Panel -> Accessibility Options -> Keyboard -> Use sticky keys should be unchecked).
Windows Updates while playing may minimize your game and / or make it slower.

*) PhysX Usage and Exclusive Benefits

GRAW2 exclusively uses AGEIA PhysX technology to provide interactive physics effects on the PC. The PhysX engine operates on any PC system to provide overall game-play and effects physics. Beyond this, the game is designed to take full advantage of the AGEIA PhysX Processor - the world's first and only dedicated PC physics accelerator.

Gamers with PhysX cards get access to enhanced and exclusive bonus content in addition to the game-play and effects standard to the software PhysX engine. In particular, card owners unlock: “AGEIA Island” - a level designed for a more extensive physics experience showcasing fully realistic and interactive environments possible only with PhysX acceleration.

Agiea Exclusive
AGEIA’s PhysX Brings New Physical Realism to Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter® 2

AGEIA Previews Exclusive PhysX-Enabled Content at Maximum PC Showdown LAN 2007

AGEIA™ Technologies, Inc. the pioneer in hardware-accelerated physics for PC and console games, today announced that AGEIA PhysX will be helping to provide a new level of realism in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter® 2 (GRAW 2) from Ubisoft. Leading-edge video game developer GRIN has leveraged PhysX to extend the visually rich and complex GRAW 2 to an entirely new level of game realism and interactivity, with dynamic gameplay physics, impactful environmental effects and persistent destruction and debris throughout. The game also features an innovative PhysX hardware bonus level that delivers an action-packed, physics-intensive mission available exclusively to owners of the AGEIA PhysX accelerator.

“With PhysX, we are able to bring gamers a realistic combat experience they will crave to play over and over again because it’s never the same twice,” said Bo Andersson, chief executive officer of GRIN. “The physics system is built into everything in the game – from the characters to tanks to buildings and every other object within the game world. When something explodes, the physics engine kicks in to create superb explosions, emitting debris which affects gameplay.”

Not only will all levels of the game be enhanced with PhysX, but owners of the AGEIA PhysX accelerator will be able to take on an additional hardware-accelerated, fully immersive mission known as “AGEIA Island.” This exclusive level features a fully destructible environment with groundbreaking environmental physics and persistent effects. Here, gamers can morph the environment to complete the mission in new, game-changing ways. Nearly every element in the level is physically modeled to enable strategically significant real-time interaction. Shoot individual planks of wooden fences to expose the enemy; destroy trees to get a better look at an opponent; blow up towers and buildings to take out the enemy within, while the flying debris impacts those nearby. Environmental effects such as blowing wind send swirling leaves and debris flying throughout the landscape to add to the “in-the-game” experience and create new challenges that directly affect how you interact with the game. The PhysX processor also enables more persistence of effects throughout the AGEIA Island level, for a more believable experience. The game is never the same.

“AGEIA’s PhysX redefines how games should look and feel and, more to the point, how they should be played,” said Manju Hegde, CEO of AGEIA Technologies. “Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is a fantastic example of how a great development team can leverage AGEIA PhysX to enrich the game-play experience and deliver a compelling game that people will want to play again and again.”

AGEIA will debut the PhysX-enabled AGEIA Island level in an exclusive sneak preview at the upcoming Maximum PC Showdown LAN 2007 event in San Jose California from June 15 to 17. Gamers will have a chance to play against Ubisoft’s Frag Dolls as well as win prizes in a GRAW 2 tournament in AGEIA’s Booth #109 over the weekend.

*) Settings and Performance

There are three levels of PhysX adjustable via a drop-down sub-menu in the game-menu: "Options->Video->Advanced Settings". These levels offer variable scale and sophistication of environmental physics and interaction.

At run-time, the game will automatically detect for the existence of a PhysX card and default to: "Normal" if no PhysX accelerator is detected and to: “PhysX High” when a card is detected. The “PhysX Extreme” option is available for users willing to push physics to the limit on the most powerful systems with PhysX hardware. Gamers are recommended to leave these settings at their default levels or go lower if they experience performance issues. A dual-core PC plus PhysX card is highly recommended to play missions at: “PhysX High”.

All game physics is exclusively based on AGEIA PhysX SDK v2.7.1. The corresponding system software (driver) is distributed with the game. For the latest drivers and more news and information on GRAW2 and PhysX including exclusive bonus content, users are encouraged to visit: www.ageia.com.

The Ghosts are back to PC.

Following the 2006 Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (GRAW), Ubisoft brings the sequel GRAW2, with an even more tactical PC tailored game.

You are the Soldier of the Future 2.0. All systems have been upgraded to give you more power and control on the battlefield. Following the failure of the "coup d'etat" in Mexico City Mexican rebels have gathered their remaining forces along the US border. Lead your team of elite Special Forces for the first time on US soil - straddling the border between Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas. The Ghosts have less than 72 hours to stop a nuclear attack. You are the last line of defense and must do what it takes to be victorious.
................................................

Key Features:

Ubisoft's award-winning shooter that was founded on the PC returns with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter™ 2, designed specifically for the PC gamer by GRIN. Building on the foundation of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, the sequel is a near-future warfare masterpiece. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 for the PC screams tactics, and you'll need to bring your best to bear if you are going to get the Ghosts past their latest challenge...

It's 2014, and the soldier of the future returns to encounter a new and more imminent threat along the recently completed wall on the U.S./Mexico border. The Ghosts are more powerful with an upgraded Integrated Warfighter System (IWS), but will have only 72 hours to assess the threat and stop the rebels from reaching U.S. soil. With a border that's 1,900 miles long and an enemy that doesn't play by the rules, this is a job for the U.S. military's most elite fighting unit. This is a job for the Ghosts.

Vastly Improved Multiplayer
Huge variety of modes from classic team deathmatch to the exclusive recon vs. assault.

Top-Notch Tactical Gameplay
PC-exclusive tactical maps and non-linear missions in both indoor and outdoor environments.

More Options Mean More Strategies
Your team is more customizable and has grown with the addition of a communications specialist. New team play options abound including the "bubble system," which rewards players for more cohesive teamwork.

All-New Battlegrounds
For the first time ever, the Ghosts will defend U.S. soil from a cross-border attack, taking the fight to all-new locations. The Ghosts will battle enemies in mountain terrains, barren deserts, and even protect their home turf in El Paso, Texas. Each environment presents its own benefits and challenges and will call for fresh tactical approaches.

More Technology and Firepower
All systems have been upgraded to give players more power and control on the battlefield, including an improved Cross-Com. Cross-Com 2.0 will go full screen with the click of a button, enabling you to deliver more precise and deadly attacks.

Overhauled Graphics and AI
Battle your way through a highly realistic near-future warfare experience against a much smarter enemy. They'll try to flank your position or gain strategic vantage points in order to take you down. But don't worry - your team has your back. Their AI has been upgraded as well. They'll feed you more of the information you need with descriptive commands like "enemy spotted behind red truck ahead."

Game Mods:

Exclusive "Recon versus Assault" Mode: Increased Recon into Multiplayer. Take control of a deadly Ghost Recon squad against the heavily armed Mexican renegades
Variety of Multiplayer modes from the classic team deathmatch to the Original Ghost Recon Coop and many others.

Multiplayer:

Recon Verses Assault:
In Recon vs. Assault, players will divide into assault and defend teams and compete in an objective based challenge.

The Recon vs. Assault mode tasks the Ghost team with destroying three Air Defense Anti-Tank Systems (ADATS) in preparation for a massive air strike. The Rebels can win by defending all the ADATS or eliminating all the Ghosts. They can also claim a partial victory if they manage to preserve at least one of the ADATS. The ADATS are important targets for the Ghosts, not only for the victory points they give, but also because dead Ghosts only respawn when an ADATS is destroyed.

The Recon team can make use of three different classes -- Rifleman, Sniper or Scout. The Rifleman is armed with the now cancelled M8 carbine, allowing them to engage enemies at all but the longest ranges. The Sniper is armed with the impressive M14 rifle with a long-range scope.

Though it's a great rifle at long ranges, Snipers will likely need to fall back on their M9 sidearm if confronted by an enemy face-to-face. The Scouts are armed with the ubiquitous suppressed version of the MP5 and AN-M8 smoke grenades.
More importantly, the Scouts have a heartbeat sensor that they can use to tag enemies both out in the open and behind structures.

Once tagged, an enemy shows up as a small red diamond on every friendly player's HUD. The range to each enemy is shown within the diamond as well, letting all players exactly where a tagged enemy is located. Players who have been tagged in this manner don't live very long in the games we've played.

Once tagged, a player is sure to be hunted by pretty much every opposing player on the map. They can't break cover or even peek around a corner without having a handful of weapons trained right on them. (Interestingly, dead players can use the death cam to tag enemies.)

The only way to lose this tag is to die or to have a friendly Scrambler, the Rebel's answer to the Scout, to use their detagging device. The Rebels can also opt to play the Assault class armed with Germany's G36K assault rifle. They can also make use of the Support class and its powerful Mk 46 light machinegun. Though it's not great at picking off targets at a distance, it's an ideal weapon for laying down suppressive fire in broad areas that the enemy might cross.

This makes it great for keeping the Ghosts from getting too close to the ADATS.
Where the Ghosts have to rely on stealth and subtlety to make their way to the ADATS, the Rebels, as the defenders, can make use of tremendous firepower and spawn points right near the areas they need to defend.

This gives them the option to move out and meet the Ghosts as they make their way through the town or to take up positions of ambush near the ADATS locations. The Ghosts can even the odds somewhat because taking out an ADATS not only deprives the defenders of an extra spawn location but also increases the time between respawns for the defenders.

Once victory is determined, both teams switch sides and have another go at it. In between rounds, players can get a look at their kill/death ratios and show off any promotions they've earned. Promotions are earned by scoring points during the games, either by accomplishing mission objectives or by tagging enemy units with the heartbeat sensor.

................................................
Death Match Mode:
Players who would rather focus just on the tactics of engagement can get their fill in the team-based deathmatch mode.

OGR Mode:
Short mission based objectives in coop with up to 12 players.

Dedicated Servers:
You can install it on any PC (no need to have the CD in the drive, no powerful GPU needed). It includes admin tools & remote control.

------

Recon vs Assault Mode:
Tactical team warfare where the two different rules of engagement seen in single player, are put against each other.
One team is told to fight in assault mode and given the objectvie to defend three Air Defense Anti-Tank Systems (ADATS), which the other team that is told to fight in recon mode is sent to destroy.

The defending team has infinite respawns and simple weapons, which the attacking team only can respawn when they complete an objective (destroyed an ADATS) but has access to better weapons with silencers and has the ability to tag enemies.
As the attacking team can't respawn very often, the dead players are given the deathcam to help tag enemies for those still in the fight. By doing this they can help complete the objective, which will make them respawn.

The defenders win by defending at least two ADATS until the time is up or all the attackers are killed. Additional points are given if they manage to defend all three.
The attackers win by destroying at least two ADATS. Additional points are given if they manage the destory all three.

RvsA uses a level system that unlocks better weapons for all classes as the player gains victory points. Vicotry points are awarded for completing objectives, assisting in completing objectives, winning rounds, killing enemies, tagging/detagging enemies and more.

Both teams make use of three classes each. The attackers have Rifleman, Sniper and Scout to select from, which the defenders have Assault, Support and Scrambler. Each has their own specialties, strengths and weaknesses.

--------

Deathmatch Mode:
Every man for himself in a fight to the finish. This mode can be played as Last Man Standing if no respawns are allowed by the server.

The player with the most kills when the time runs out (unless playing in LMS mode) is declared the winner.

--------

Team Deathmatch Mode:
Tactical team warfare with the objective to kill the other team.

The team with the most kills when the timer runs out is declared the winner.

--------

Siege Mode:
Tactical team warfare where one side is given the objective to protect a given zone, while the other is given the objective to infiltrate it.

The protectors win when the time runs out and the infiltrators win when a member of the team has in one continues session been inside the zone for a time set by the server.

--------

Hamburger Hill Mode:
Tactical team warfare in tug-of-war style.

Each side is at the start of the round given the same amount of points. Both teams objective is the steal the other teams points by having a member inside a designated area. If both sides are inside the area at the same time nothing happens. The first team to have 0 points looses. If the time runs out the team with the most points at that time wins.

--------

Coop Mode:
Shorter objective based mission with up to 12 players against AI enemies.
Each mission contains different non-linear objectives without any time limit and allows unlimited respawns if the server is set to it.
This mode is designed to be more low-tech then Campaign Coop and quicker to get into and play, so it doesn't have team leaders or make use of tagging equipment, satellite maps or other equipment that takes the focus of the combat itself.

--------

Campaign Coop Mode:
Play the single player missions with up to 4 human team members against the AI enemies.
This mode allows unlimited respawn if the server is set to it, where spawning only occurs as long as their are living members of the team and they are not currently in combat with the enemy.
Use all the high-tech equipment found in the SP campaign together to complete the given objectives.

--------

Single Player:
Take command of the Ghost Team and fight with AI on both your side and the enemies.
As the team leader you get to select and equip up to 3 AI team members, which you will command during each mission to complete the given objectives.

----------
