was a bit too much of a shooting mission, uninteresting level architecture and overall athmosphere.

but well, it might be a matter of taste.

It is a matter of taste and mine agrees with yours. You can have some fun in the Kalinatek mission, but it's far too "unstealthy" for my palate. That said, it works out ok in the overall design of the game as it is squeezed between two "not allowed to kill"-levels, CIA HQ and Chinese Embassy 1.

I think it kind of put a twist in it, and I also think that it was put between two LTL levels on purpose to make you really have to change your methods in only one mission apart. I thought that put a good challenge in the game.

Never really played Splinter Cell 1. First level and that was it. I wasn't very good.
In my opinion, PT has the best missions, but that might be because Shanghai actually bothered putting exotic music in their game. Not sure why I feel this way. Maybe the keyboard controls of Chaos got to me.

Favorite
Pandora: Paris, Train, Jerusalem, Jakarta after I enter the station and catch Sadano, and LAX.

Chaos: Battery, Bathouse to a point, and the level with Otomo.

An upcoming novel by me.
Thanks Melonie for the sig!

Wow, then you're missing out my friend. I would urge you to give it another go. I'm playing SC1 these days for the, hmm, well 100th time or something, and I never get tired of it. You ought at least to play it through once.

Forgot to mention. I was only able to beat one level and not try more because it was a rental game. I'm sure if I did it now I would beat it. But why do you guys think its so good in the first place? Weren't Pandora and Chaos Theory better?

It's the most raw, stealth based, don't get spotted or you're f'd game in the series. There's no whistling, no knife, no overly fancy gadgets, a pretty pure plot, and just has an overall darker, more realistic cutthroat covert op feel to the atmosphere of the levels & gameplay than any of its successors.

Considering the price it's bound to be these days, it's worth buying, even if for only 1 playthrough. I bought it new for $20 back in late '03 and it's gotten more mileage than just about any game that I've ever owned.

I always like to play Tbilisi, but my favorite would probably be CIA headquarters.

What he said. SC1 has got by far the best atmosphere (including music score) of any SC-game and it's the one I'm playing over and over again. You can get it with the three bonus missions very cheap at the moment. It's a no-brainer really...

You guys are hardcore fans, so I'll take your word for it. I'll see if I can get my dad to buy it sometime in the spring.
At times Chaos Theory seemed easier. In the earlier games, alarms sounded instantly, Chaos has alarm buttons that the bad guys have to press. Taking on people in Pandora was risky. In Chaos there were one hit melee ko/kills. I thought that I would love these changes, but in the end I don't think I did. Frown
But then again I did just get on some new medication.

I liked that Chaos Theory gave me the chance to clear up my SNAFUs without failing the mission. I tend to go for total immersion with my gaming, so rather than reloading if I muck it up, I'd rather keep playing and see if I can sort the mess out.

The pathetic elbow strike in Pandora drove me nuts... like bat**** ****ing loco.

I liked CT the most due to the knife. I have spent more time stabbing guards in CT then I have played any other game. This maybe due to some personality disorder or some deep seeded anti-social syndrome, but there it is.

For me, the CIA in SC1... played that over and over and over and over... (stopped here to save the database :P)

The one I hated the most is also from SC1, the Abbatoir mission... it sucked because my videocard couldn't take the thermal-vision very well, so incredibly low framerates in that level... for the sake of it, try to play that level without putting those things on Hammer

In PT, I liked most missions, but not the train level... Just because I like Sam, and I don't think he needs that absurd James-Bond trainclimbing stuff... Makes him so inhuman :P

The Bank in SC3 was cool for trying speedruns without anyone knowing you exist... no kills/ko's, don't get spotted (duh!) and don't make anyone wonder what's going on... took me 8 mins Big Grin

i wouldn't come up with a bad mission from that one, although the UAV's where annoying :|

Since I'm a PC gamer, I haven't been able to play DA (@$%&! bugs) or Essentials...

What you read in my posts and what I am trying to tell you. One might not be the other, while the other might nog be one. Please disagree, I love a healthy debate. I don't hate you. I don't know you. I don't want you. I don't exist. Do you?

The shadows are the best place to hide. Even the sun can't spot you there.
What do you think about the information and communication of Ubisoft?
