AFAIK, once you jump to a ledge just push forward (like walking forward) to pull yourself up. The mouse wheel controls how fast you move forward, so that would most likely be the one to use.

As to the Interact selection, just put the mouse pointer over the one you want and left click on it?

Climbing a wall- you need to have free space above you. You may need to shimmy a bit to one side or the other before you can use your directional key to climb up.

Interact windows- hold down your spacebar to get your interation. You can use either your direction keys or the wheel of your mouse to toggle between the options. When the one you want is highlighted, relase the space bar and Sam should perform the desired action.
