I've been thinking latly and I've found that I'm stuck. You all remember Philip Masse from Splicer Cell, yeah? The Canadian hacker who was used by Kombayn Nikoladze and who met Vyacheslav Grinko in the glass lift at the Gorgian MoD? Well; I'm just wondering what ever happned to him? I seem to remember that near the end of the game, their were roumers of data-sticks that Masse had been killed, yet I don't recall that, then in Chaos Theory, after you find that some of the programmes that are being used where made by Masse, and Fisher states that he killed Masse, but I really don't remember any part of the first game where you kill Masse, so this leaves me confused. Is this just a boob in the story, or is there somthing I have missed? Thanks.

If you had an xbox and downloaded the DLC missions for Splinter Cell 1 you can find out what happens to him. You had to kill him in one of the missions.
Ah, that explains it. I have it for the PS2. Can you guys give me the low-down on the basic plot? I'd really like to find out what happned to Masse. (yeah, I know he's dead now, but I just wanna know the basic details.) TBH, I'm suprised. He seems like just a computer dork, albiet, a dangerist one who could crash the computers of the world. But for the NSA to want him dead, he must have done somthing very bad. Can you tell me anything? I've played all the current Splinter Cell games, so you won't be spoiling anything outside of the XBox DLC you said. Thanks.

Not sure if this is all correct, but basically Masse was selling his algorithms to the highest bidders and could care less about who it affected, or killed, so Sam was ordered to eliminate that threat to the world. Masse was much more than a computer dork, as he purposely wrote his code to be able to take over military, financial or any other critical system.
An example of Masse's long range effect was seen on one of Chaos Theory's missions where Masse's 'kernel' was embedded into missile launch/control system that allowed a rogue Chinese Admiral (Otomo) to launch a Korean missile against a US battleship. You captured him at the end of the game in the "Kokubo Sosho" mission.
Had Masse been allowed to live, his coding would have continued to proliferate through the world.

Ah, yeah. I remember Lambert and Fisher saying somthing about a programme that Masse had made was used in Chaos Theory. It's been a while since I played that one, so I can't remember much. I never thought that Masse did so much damage. Just goes to show, eh?
