So I just got the xbox version of CT and this time I knew how to get my console online so I decided to play the critically acclaimed MP. Well, I'm frustrated and disappointed at the same time, it seems like I can never get anything done as a spy/merc (mercs even more so) usually only winning (or losing) because of the timer ending. The maps are just way too big and the controls are a bit clunky (like having to precisely aim at a button as a merc to press it can be annoying). I've only played 4 games so can anyone tell me if this is how they felt the first time playing, it's too much of a hassle to look for matches in an essentially dead online component.

Thats how i felt and I love being the spy but Im not an excellent spy but when im a merc im very good for some reason its impossible for me to be a good spy. Yeah its an unforgiving multiplayer were you make a mistake and the next minute your dying or your dead.

The multiplayer in Chaos Theory has a very high learning curve. This game will require quite a bit of practice (most people require a few weeks to learn this game) and finding other people who are new to the game as well to play with. You can play with better players but I'm sure it would be frustrating getting owned over and over.

If you want a SC multiplayer game that is a little easier to pick up, try the XBox 360 version of Double Agent.

Of course it's harder to be a spy, since you gotta think alot more about what you're doing, and since it's a much more technical kind of playing. Being a merc feels much like other FPS games, so you've already got a head start in learning how to play as that. But yeah, the game has a very high learning curve, which is good, actually, since it gives the game a lot of depth. Just look what happened, when UBISOFT gave us the multiplayer of Double Agent. It was much easier to learn and all that, but the majority hated it and it was only loved by few (very few, actually).

And about the sniper controls, well, I think it's good. You don't need to use the function that allows you to hold your breath, when you want to make headshots ect. Yeah, holding your breath is rarely used. You can aim much faster without using it.

But in general, the mercs wins more than the spies, even when the best are playing against the best. In that case, I'd say that spies wins 35% of the matches, while the mercs takes the last 65% (you may disagree with me on this). I'm talking about story-matches, by the way.

Well, I'd recommend you to read Spekkio's noob guide, since it will teach you A LOT about the game, and probably make you a better player. Just patient - it takes long time to get into the multiplayer of SC:CT, but when you first are, you'll find out, that it is one of the best alternatives to mainstream-FPS-multiplayergames, like Battlefield and Counter-Strike.

NOTE: I play on PC.

Unfortuanetly I've joined the game late, there are very few people playing and I'm usually pitted against very experienced players, or with people who throw teamwork out of the window and trying killing the spies (or mercs). It may take me months for me to get used to it.

Well, how's multiplayer in the last-gen version of DA? Do people still play?

Is it slow to aim/turn in the PC version? I'm not talking about analog vs mouse here since there is no sensitivity option and as far as I know it was done purposely.
