TFS_Jackie edit: Guys, I AM VERY sorry and I know everyone is going to just hate me for this, but magazine scans are not allowed on the forums. Once one of the CM's would have seen this they would have removed it anyway. I will however, leave the description.

Sorry about that. If you did translated the whole scan, then maybe we can get more info.
Is the front cover of the magazine illegal to post, mods? |

so it sounds like this one isn't so closely related to the end of Double Agent as i thought it was gonna be. i thought that "conviction" and everything continued from the "good ending" of double agent with Fisher being on the run from the feds trying to clear his name for his 'terroist' actions in DA or whatever (since noone but Lambert new he was undercover.) still sounds cool i guess, but i think tying the 2 games together would've been better.
and jack, what mag is this? and could you link the pics to me in a PM or something? not an english mag i guess... |

I sent you a PM.

Stupidly enough, half of the article is just bullshickles and remembering the good ole days and such, but I wrote it down anyway. My translation skills are also mediocre, but whatever. I was bored ->
"SAM FISHER MOVES FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT People at the Ubisoft studio in Montreal are evidently excited, as the new Splinter Cell game has been under development for the last two years, albeit the progression of the project that has been kept hush-hush and tightly under wraps. Now, the silence has been broken. To be released exclusively for Xbox 360 and PC, with the developer team of 110 people, Conviction shakes the very roots of the Splinter Cell franchise. We went to visit the team behind the development of the game, which is due December 2007. Understanding the renewal process of a game franchise is easier if you know the background of the Splinter Cell series. The original Splinter Cell's technological basis was the Xbox generation and the possibilities the console brought with it, including dynamic lighting (or some such it was). Basically, this meant the ability to create areas with lightning and shadows, which the player could affect by breaking the source of the light. Sharp lights and shadows were a short way to the hiding-in-the-shadows stealth concept behind the game. The long-time cooperation with political thriller author Tom Clancy gave birth to the game's main character, Sam Fisher - an uber modern secret agent and his iconic, tri-ocular goggles. Splinter Cell was born. The vision behind Splinter Cell was to combine these three cornerstones seamlessly together: technique, playability, and theme. According to the developers, it worked out fantastically in Chaos Theory, which they consider the perfect "old" Splinter Cell game. With the Xbox 360, they were brought new technology and power. They wanted to take everything out of this technology, just like they did with the last Splinter Cell and console generation. This produced a (beep) chain-reaction in planning, and the consequences could be a shock to many fans of the Splinter Cell series. The time for lights and shadows was over. Conviction takes place in broad daylight. Sam is no more an agent but a fugitive and an outlaw. But the difference between practicality and playability isn't necessarily as big as one would think. Conviction still is a stealth game. FROM MACHINE TO MAN Fundamental changes in the world of Splinter Cell lead to the events of Double Agent. Sam has begun to lose faith in the NSA and in his employer, Third Echelon, the special intelligence and information warfare sub-agency within the NSA. As such, Sam has distanced himself from Third Echelon and is ready to call it quits with the agent mumbo jumbo he so detests. In the beginning of Conviction, Sam gets a hold of information concerning a danger that threatens one of his long-time co-workers, Anna Grimsdottir, familiar from the previous Splinter Cells. In order to help Anna, Sam returns to Third Echelon's paycheck but soon realizes that the agency is but a mere ghost of what it used to be. The once effective counterterrorism agency has been nearly crippled by incompetency, bureaucracy, and bull**** (sorry, I forgot what the last word was). The current situation within the agency is evident in the complications Sam faces during the first missions of Conviction: information is inaccurate, Sam has been given unsuitable gear, and the situations requiring fast and decisive action are missed by the bickering of the bosses about authoritive statuses and the course of action. As it soon becomes evident that the tracks of the danger threatening Anna lead directly to Third Echelon, Sam quits the government job and decides to save Anna on his own. This decision turns out to be fatal, as Sam is declared a fugitive -- The former special agent has now become an outlaw. The people at Ubisoft admit that the twist in the story was created to flesh-out the character of Sam Fisher; the cold, government puppet, familiar from the previous Splinter Cells, didn't provide enough ground for understanding and sympathy. Instead, the Sam who left behind the agency and became a fugitive is a much more elaborate and humane character, being driven by his own feelings and goals." This message has been edited. Well I figured this would eventually take its course, just like with the GR series, RB6 series, the franchises change, looks like its Splinter Cells turn, even though we saw this in DA a little, looks like there gonna make the transformation complete with this game. While im disappointed that Ill prolly never be able to have a fresh "old" experience, with Ubi Montreal I have faith that with whatever they come up with, itll be good, if not amazing. Who knows, it might not stay like this, mybe its just for this game, but im thinking its gonna change forever, not a bad thing, if done right, which I really think Montreal will do.
BTW...I highly doubt its gonna be all in the day, im sure theres gonna be some night missions. BTW54...Melonies my sweetie XF 12/30/2006 XXXXDDDD I miss you. "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise" -1 Cor 1:27 |
