Howdy, another SC fan joins up
What can I say, the mans my favourite hero charcater. I did a costume (cosplay for those in the anime/game scene) of him to the 1st birthday of one of our game stores over here. (will probably bring it out again for the AVcon Anime & Videogames Convention. Just will add a few more things to it) I started off with a rented PandoraTommorrow for Xbox back ages ago. Didn't get far in the rental time though. Then I bought ChaosTheory & had a blast with that, played it multiple times. Next I bought DoubleAgent on PS2 (I didn't realise it came out on Xbox at the time, didn't have an Xbox360 yet either). I've had a XB360 for a while now but didn't have much time to play many games. However since my job contract ended two months ago I've since now finished PandoraTommorrow, SC1, & DoubleAgent (XB360) Out of SC games to play, I probably should get Essentials since it's cheap as now. I rented it before when it was new, couldn't stand the control scheme. It doesn't really work well on a portable... But it'll be another one to add to the collection & it'll fill in some gaps of the storyline too. Since Essentials is set after Double Agent I wonder how it'll tie in with Conviction. Was Sam unsuccessful in clearing his name which then leads to Conviction or did Ubisoft decide to disregard Essentials storyline when making Conviction? Anyway, I'm now reading through SC novel 3, Checkmate & have Fallout ready to go afterwards. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Escaped-Ape, |

Welcome to the forums, and to Splinter Cell addiction!
As to the novels, when you read Fallout, look for three real life gamers that got included as characters in it. Jackie Fiest is in the first 2 chapters, LoneInTheDark as Alysn chapter 28, and myself as Robert A Robinson in Nova Scotia starting in Chapter 17. Enjoy! **** SPOILER ALERT! **** As to Essentials, it does follow after Double Agent, but kind of interlinks with or leads up to what ConViction should be, IMHO. It points to the fact that Williams is setting Sam up, is doing it for someone else and leaves it with Sam about to try and find a CD with the proof of his innocence and Williams guilt. |

How did you guys manage that?
Reminds me of when Konami had a competition ages ago to put a players name on a dog tag of a security personnel in one of the MGS games. |

One of the UBI forum moderators knew who the 'real' author was and said something to him about including real characters in the book.
He thought it was a great idea and so the call went out for gamers to submit their personal bios and the author selected the three personalities that best fit within the storyline. Some changes were made to our actual bios, to protect the guilty, LOL, but for the most part we were kept intact. |

I was sort of in Tom Clancy's first three books (at least I like to think so!). In Red Storm Rising, The Hunt for Red October, and Patriot Games the National Security Advisor had a name which was only one letter different from my own. I was killed off in the third book.
