We all know that in Hell's Highway there will now be special squads (MG, mortar, bazooka/panzerfaust) I think we all hope to see these in action in multiplayer, but the question is, how will they work?

If an MG team is killed, does the gun stay on the ground or does it respawn with the team? Obviously if there is going to be an MG team, it has to be assigned to somebody at the beginning of the game. If it keeps respawning with that person, they will be using JUST an MG the WHOLE game, meanwile, other players never get to touch it!

Now imagine this. An MG gets knocked out. Either you can run over to it and man it yourself, OR you can order a team to it and they capture it, and from that point forward they behave as an MG team instead of a standard fire/assault team. This does a number of things. First, it adds realism. Second it adds variety as several players will get to control the MG in a course of a single game. Finally, and this is the part I'm most excited about, if you can capture an ENEMY MG that you've knocked out, it adds depth to the battle.

Example: On a mission where the Germans have to blow a bridge to prevent the Allied advance, if the Americans know what they're doing, they'll cover the bridge with an MG. Now the Germans have a couple of options. 1)Go for the throat and try to blow the bridge but risk taking VERY heavy losses. 2)Try to capture the MG and use it to cover your approach to the bridge. The second seems like the obvious choice, but if you lose too many guys taking the gun, you may not have enough to assualt the bridge, so you'll be forced to try to hold the MG until reinforcements arive. If you don't hold out long enough you will have lost a lot of guys for nothing.

On the other hand, if you take the MG, the Americans have to chose between holding the bridge WITHOUT their MG, OR taking guys away from defending the bridge to recapture the MG. I believe this will make multiplayer games more fun, because MG and mortars will be like mini objectives on every map. You don't NEED to achieve them to win, but if your side has a two MGs and the other has none, your chances of winning are greatly increased.

In EIB if your attack fails, you make another one with the next wave of troops. Its less like one battle then several small actions on the same ground. I don't mean to knock it, because its the best multiplayer game I've ever played, but its not quite realistic. If you can capture enemy equipment though, it will help make the battles more fluid, because it will change the balance of the game the way that capturing an important hill does in a larger scale battle. So instead of going straight for victory, you first try to capture that hill/MG and once you have it, you leverage it against your opponent for the next phase of the battle.

I hope the folks at Gearbox and Ubisoft have had this in mind all along. If not I hope they're reading this and they like what the see.
