2.5 out of 5
1. This game does not offer significant game play improvements over the previous versions of BiA. I found myself with each level wondering when is the *new* experience going to happen. Apart from the graphic updates and the addition of two new team types there is not too much here to get excited over. 2. The promise of more open play is not delivered. The paths to the next level still feel forced. The obstructions that block you from actually flanking the enemy or choosing an alternate course of action don't ring true i.e. apple carts that you can climb over, or 50 gallon drums that can't be moved, and I was always aware of the hand of the game designer nudging me in one direction or the other. 3. I understand the intent of the cinematic scenes and storyline, to make us care about the characters in the squad. However if they come back to life with each new round then that intent is shattered and it really pulls me out of the immersive experience. What would have made me care about the *lives* of the others in my squad is their value to the health and success of the squad. So... since they hinted at a "Bulge" game in the future here are my suggestions, they aren't new but, I would like to add weight to the lists that are already out there. 1. If not a sandbox then please make it closer to one than this. Let us go around the back, through, in front of, or nowhere near the house to get at the Germans on the other side. 2. Assets management - pick your team, pick your weapons, receive intel and plan your attack. If your guys get killed then that is that and you might have to repeat a level with green troops. I promise I will care a lot more about Dawson if he would hit something he is shooting at, instead of trying to be my life coach. 3. Prone - crawl - lean & peek - I understand the arguments for and against - I don't care - I like it - I like it in GRAW2 - it works fine in that game - give it to me. 4. Improve the AI - I never once felt threatened. Whenever I died in a level it always felt like I just hadn't found the right path yet. It never felt like I was beaten by a determined enemy or that there was a squad leader better than me on the other side. 5. Equipment: Bring back the old tank model of play, loose the hand held MG42, give me some binoculars, give the German handgrenades and a will to live. |

I agree with all you say, but these 2 points sum it up exactly for me. HH is a dismal failure, it`s pretty obvious to see now a couple of months or so later, especially from the lack of Dev response. they forgot they were making arealistic game and thought they were doing an arcade movie. EIB is still the realistic (authentic) game of choice for a good WW2\tactical\ shooter. I got rid of the game a week after I`d finished it about 2 months ago. Just not worth keeping. |
