After reading all of the feedback i couldn't agree more with the majority of the people in this forum. I have completed the game on all difficulty levels in one week (after waiting over two years!). I looked on YOUTUBE and i cannot believe that Gearbox have stemmed to these levels to sell a game, because lets be realistic, it is what they have done. Look at the demo with commentry from both Col. Antal and Randy Pitchfork and hear them just lie about so many elements of the game that wasn't there. The 'Brotherhood moments', The prone position, the rifle swinging, the dust effects! I am guilty of lapping it all up as well. It was all of this that 'sold' the game for me as well as many others. Even though the final result was decent, i am incredibly upset that they did this and didn't just market what they knew was going to be the final product because if you look at the videos, it is at an extreme level!! Anyone remember the trouble over KILLZONE 2 and all the trouble SONY got into after marketing "in game footage". I hope Gearbox learn from this and realise how disappointed and frustrated we all are. Roll on Call of Duty!!

Out of the whole game i found only 1 major problem sided with a few smaller niggles. The major prob is to do with Black Friday, i played the game on my ATI graphics card and up until that point everything flowed smoothly, then as you have already picked up on i like others with the ATI cards sufferd with reboots, black screens vehichals vanishing or everything merging into one. This kind of took the thrill of the game away because you are now having to wait for a patch to continue playing.
I have followed BiA series and have enjoyed every minute of the games, but i can not help thinking the game loses some of the impact due to the AI being so predictable. No matter how many time you start a level, they appear to be in the same positions everytime, follow the same paths etc. I would also like to be able to move freely around the maps, gamers have started to get used to being able to plan their own routes through games, able to go an explore the otherside of a door or wall or hill... In the first episodes of BiA we never had that luxury as it was rare in games but now it's nearly everywhere. I is just getting predictlable when you no you have to continue down the street and there will be an ambush or sentry, but it would bring more to the game and possibly add to the authentisity of the game if you were able to leave that street and move behind the houses through the back yards and into the kitchens to turn the tables on you would be assilants.
I would liek to say however, no matter what i really enjoy the BiA series and would not change a moment of it, you have brought to the table a kind of authenticity that many only dream of, you can not help but feel for the squad you lead knowing that each member you lost in some way represented a long forgotten hero. If you can keep this up i salute you.

#Don't forget, it will soon be 'Remembering Sunday' Don't forget to buy your poppey so we don't forget out long lost hero's not only in the past but the present as well.

Some of this I agree with....BIA has given me a lot of good playing time....and some I disagree with....there is nothing "authentic" about half of BIAHH. All the things, rifles flotting in the air, men running around in circles, can't step across logs submerged in the water, German troops not reacting to gun fire 50 yards away, reports from firearms that sound like pea shooters(mainly the M1), not being able to kill with the 1911 Colt 45 from 15ft with 3 shots to the head and you can kill with it from 50 yards away. The BIG problem, again, is not being able to choose where you want to go. A lot of games give you many paths to follow...."if you can see it, you can go there". With all due respect to Col. Antel, I think he should find another job.
One more thing: I installed the driver 8.9 for the ATI card and it SEEMED to be what was needed but when I played on the Veteran level, all the things that were wrong in "Black Friday" came charging back. Trucks, jeeps and building turning white or disappearing. Didn't clear up until I played through it.

Yes, please remember the Vets of all the wars. Many have paid the price for what we enjoy.

Personally, I think the game is an insult to the REAL guys who had to partake in the real thing. Earned In Blood does them far better justice. It may sound harsh, but I reckon if just one of those guys looked at this game, the German AI, the childish 3rd person tank battles, the useless Tigers, they`d turn away in disgust.

I also don`t agree with the zoom to see them blow apart button, but at least it`s optional. And as for this Colonel adviser guy, I don`t know what happened to him, maybe he didn`t want this, but they changed it anyway. I`m certain he`s sure that it`s not `authentic` by any stretch.

And I never forget my poppy. None of us should.

p.s. One small point which is minor compared to what`s wrong with this game... But the Black Birds. Noticed how when there`s shooting and a an artillery barrage going on they don`t do anything? They are completely unbothered by loud explosions and MG fire? They only fly away if YOU go near them.

Little things like that just don`t help with the immersion.

Yet, the game`s done already.

Anyway my view on it.

Good stuff:

1. Graphics and animation. Yes, great, realistic. Watching Jerries run and shooting them in mid run really looks real, etc. But I didn`t buy the games for graphics.

2. Great sounds, although some are strangely lite. German voices in battle adds to feel of realism.

3. Definitely tactics needed to win in some areas, especially if you don`t use the dig-in` button.

4. Plenty of Options to turn everything off, even before Authentic mode. Good.

5. No silly copy authentication protection thing. Which goes highly in its favour.

What I don`t like.

1. Your men always magically coming back to life, unlike the previous game where you could choose to stay with what you had left.

3. Germans don`t use grenades -ever.

4. Germans never actually counter-attack in the fight. they just defend - forever. No one wins battles just defending forever. I did have ONE case where a German made a surprise rush at me in a building, but it was hardly a co-ordinated counter-attack.

Also the Germans were great proponents of attacking back and not just waiting to get killed. Let`s not forget that in the real thing a bunch of Veteran experienced German Troops from the Russian front were taking a rest there. These guys were bad-asses and knew their job. I was hoping later in the game to meet tough attacking guys like these.

EIB was much better with AI in this regard.

5. Tank battle of game is arcade and stupid. The guy ask me to help him with his tanks. I thought that meant creating a safe passage for him, not driving it for him in 3rd person. How silly. Guess they threw that in for the people who get easily bored.I bought this game to play as a SOLDIER, not a Tanker! EIB did it way better (you directed the tank as might happen in reality).

6. German tanks were stupidly dense and way too easy to destroy. There was one map where we first see them and we had a big fight with German defenders while this German Tiger just went round a street in a circle completly ignoring the battle going on. It was like it was saying `Here I am, please kill me!` Not once did he open fire to spoil our day. Crazy! German tankers had brains in WW2, y`know.

10. Your assault soldiers can`t actually assault. You have to just place them almost on top of the enemy. Also the manual said they throw grenades sometimes. I`ve never seen them throw grenades at all.

11. Oh yes. The Allies actually lost the operation in reality. Nowhere in the game did it feel like we were in trouble or losing to an encrouching enemy. There were lots of burning British trucks, that`s all. But never did you feel like you were retreating, just attacking, even at the end. A missed opportunity.

12. Where`s the German radio woman broadcasts? When I first visted the forum it mentioned she was in the game. I never heard her at all.

5\10 for game itself. (6\10 simply due to no Authentication thing).

I do agree with some of your opinions
the ones you state in t6his above quote...

but the others I think are very cool actualy
maybe if we had some more options over the
options menu to activate or desactivate this features but actualy some of us like that...
and some don't....

In the orders to your teams I would like to be possible to give this orders on the Map menu also, its damn stupid some times that you have to relocate yourself as a squad leader to be able to give this orders and relocate your teams
on the battle field.... The Assault team should have more agressive capacty, and act more like
assaulting when you order an assault, also they
should cover themselfs properly and this means with the cover beetwin them and the enemy and not one of them stay out in open target range....

We will wayt for the patch release...

1. Push To Talk for VOIP
It really gets old listening to little kids mothers yelling at them in the background not to mention static mics.

2. A Classic BIA Multiplayer Mode
I would like to see them add another Game Mode like the Squad based PC/AI. To switch it up a bit.

3. A Team Deathmatch.
Rather than OBJ Give us Eliminate the Enemy or something.

4. Ability to Ban people from your server while your host.

5. Improvements on Cover.

another thing i really dont like is all this "...loading" in the middle of missions.

its very annoying to have a ton of loading interruptions in each mission.

Most of what I would like to suggest has already been covered here I think. But there are a few that I didn't see mentioned.

First of all it seems I am not the only one that experienced difficulties on the Black Friday Missions(the raining ones?). Apparently that is an issue with ATI cards then? Well that is number one on my list of fixes. I had at least 20 GPU failures before finishing that chapter and many distortions.

My Suggestions:

1: Dedicated Server Support for multiplayer games. Why should we be forced to play on laggy hosted games where I get dropped 90% of the time. And there are so limited number of options for the server host as well. I don't see why there shouldn't be a full server setup available.

2: More multiplayer game modes.

3: More video configuration options to tweak the settings lower for people with less than perfect video cards. I have a Saphire Radeon HD 2600 xt with 512mb GDDR3 memory and I lag terrible on the FPS side in Multiplayer.

4: Already mentioned before but I would like to see Iron Sites made useable in the "DIG IN MODE" rather than just having a slight zoom with crosshair.

5: Re-add the extra single player side games that were available before besides the story.

6: Add a CO-OP mode where people can host a server and allow friends or anyone from the internet to join where people can work to capture certain objectives against AI opponents.

So far as the game is it seems to me to be very empty and lacking on a lot of different aspects.

Also I really disliked all of the Solo missions in the story line as well as the tank missions. The fun of this game is using your squads and these missions where just a waste to me. Also would have liked to see more missions where you have control of 3 squads at once. I really loved the missions where you had an Assault Team, Base of Fire Team, and MG Team all at once.

A lot been said i won't repete. It's a great looking game, especially it has great atmosphere. I loved it. I know Eindhoven and surroundings, i'm born in that place. Of course it is not 100% accurate, but that's not necessary. Only at the railway station i was disappointed to find American looking train cars. Dutch would be more authentic, like "Blue Angels", a beautiful train. But most important the weapons. What was especially annoying was the use of the 1911 Automatic Pistol. You can't aim it like you should in real life. It's too close to your eye. You should see an arm stretched out in front of you, and the hand holding the gun. In that way you can really aim at the target. I hope this animation is corrected because it's really necessary. And the Kar98 German rifle does not reload authentic. After you reload it, the bolt is closed in a wrong way. It is first straight forward and THEN locked to the right side. Okay, that being said, it's still a great game, i liked the fight in Veghel in the rain. And the burning buildings looked spooky. I can't help feeling sorry for the Germans in the game. They were humans like we are. Nevertheless, great job.

Hi, i was wondering if there was any chance to have a release in the futur of BIA Hill 30 and Earn in Blood with the graphics and effects of Hells Highway?

I would buy them again for sure.

Anyone else is thinking the same?

Oh!, and by the way devs, you did a great job! Hopefully, an extension to upgrade the two previous games with all the goodies from Hell Highway would be more then welcome.

I think the over all game is very fun, but there are some disapointments:
[LIST]
  • There should be AT guns for both sides.
  • There should be tanks for both sides
  • More Weapons for MP, including, Mausers, flamethrowers, And because the UK took part in Market garden. You should include british weapons for MP, such as: Lee Enfields, Webly Revolvers, the sten, the Bren, the Boys MK.I(first true .50 cal rifle,) The PIAT, and maybe even include teh FG 42 for the Germans .
  • Other notable things, the ability to detread, but not completly KO a tank, or the ability to get ontop of, and lob a grenade into the tank, allowed you to comendeer it, and if so...you need to include the famous Sticky Bombs..
  • Completly put PhysX to use, include destroyable walls, clothes that realistically react.
  • Maps which allow you to go up into the bell tower, and when a tank comes along, completly blow the bell tower up, such as you can do in SP.
  • Trees which can be blown apart(if you add in some nice forested maps.
  • Make the 2d grass more lifelike.
  • Make a mission regarding the fight on the Arnam bridge.
  • Make the road get pot marks in it from explosions, so when a bomb is droped, it leaves a crater. that you can use as cover.
  • Make steel cover dentable, such as in the Nvidia Cloth demo, with the Steel, so that bullets leave nice pot marks.
  • And last, but not least, add in some more tanks, i would love to see some big maps with regular shemans, panthers, tigers, Sherman Crocs., and even some Churchills(not a fat old guy running about pls.)

**All and all, great game guys, but I think it needs more to it.

Well, I don't know how many times Sgt. Baker has been stopped "dead" in his tracks and shot because there was a stone, or blade of grass, or something that he surely could have sprinted over, or even ignored, but the "game" stopped him cold!

I'm done with this game. There are a lot of good things to say about it. The graphics are 1000 times better that the ones before it. The story line is great and it really has it moments but there is too much that is wrong with it to keep playing. I'm on the "Authentic" level, if you can call it "Authentic", and the whole thing is getting to be boring. GEARBOX will never come up with patches enough to fix this in the next year. The game will be put on the shelf in hopes that will happen. Last comment: I just paid $50 for a $10 game.

Many many great points in this thread.

The things I would most like to see addressed in order:

1: Iron Sights in dig in mode. Seriously authentic mode is pretty damn good, but kind of ridiculous without iron sights from cover.

2: The Tank maps are ridiculously easy. I'd much prefer commanding a tank like it was a squad.

3: Bullet penetration in addition to destructible cover.

4: The ability to choose your personal weapon kit, to an extent, and more realistic ammo amounts in authentic mode. No one carried 20 stripper clips, 20 BAR mags, 20 pistol mags, and 6 nades all at the same time in combat.

    5: Better AI all around.

6: Ability to place squads from an overhead view.

7: When you get a soldier shot or potentially killed, you should lose them for an appropriate amount of time.

I share the general consensus on this feedback issue. I like the graphics, the story line, etc....but the posted suggestions outline my concerns with the sim. I hope a patch can address some of these issues.

As I have just finished I will post my Feedback.

    opening thoughts.
I enjoyed the game, the engine(Please never stop using unreal), physics, shooting, cover, hit detection are all awesome. I sort of like the new cover system but it needs to be harder to shoot from under cover. The new multilayer is fun but I think it would be awesome if you gave every human person 1 cover team squad member. That way its a combination of both the old style BIA MP and the new style. Also can we get some non-tank levels? The story wasn't wthe ay I would have gone but it doesn't bother me like I'm sure it does some.

    Single player/Story

maybe it was a function of "market garden" but I hate most of the single player levels. They are fun but that's not my criticism. I have a problem with so much focus on urban combat. The original game(S) had much more combat on open terrain. It's just more fun and lends itself well to the game play style. The 3 squad system would be AWESOME with more open terrain. In fact the most fun I had in the game was on the last mission in which you have 3 full squads going through hedges and sandbags taking out 88's. Beautiful and there should have been TONS more of that. Instead it was almost missing in many missions. Playing that last mission was the only one that truly gave me the same feel of excitement and newness as RTH30 or EIB did. I could play missions like that all day.

Too much use of the Bazooka squad and not enough battles with opposing tanks as infantry.
The Bazooka squad takes away from the BIA game play style. It's too easy to take out MG's and destroy cover. Cover should be (except wood) extremely difficult to take out. I would retain the Bazooka squad but make it an auxiliary weapon that the fire team has, with only 5 shots for tank encounters. If you use them for cover or MG's you will be PUNISHED later in the mission. I think this would be an awesome dynamic.

For being called the eponymous "hells highway" the mission was one of the easiest in the game.

The "tank mode" portions are dumb.

Overall the game is just WAAY too easy. In fact RTH30 was one of the hardest games I've played in the last decade but this game was actually one of the easiest. The coolest thing about the first two was that you just couldn't shoot your way out of it. You can now.

I am not as connected overall to some of the new faces. If you are going to keep killing off old characters the new ones should be just as compelling and have as much development. Also the Sam Corrion/ Baker confrontation seems contrived.

    Game Features:
I am extremely disappointed in the "recon reports" the old style of special features with audio, slide shows, and briefings from the game main menu was THE BEST special feature setup I have ever seen in any PC game and it should have been retained. The fact that it was not is absolutely stunning.

    Seriously, no squad commandable tanks?
    No Skirmish?
    ^^^Idiotic.

If It meant making the game more difficult, I would remove the ability to shoot from the "covered position" or make it nearly impossible to hit anything from it. For suppression only if you will.

I love the new health system. As a huge tactical shooter fan this is a great achievement. I think it was also very courageous to use this new system, would be more so had it been easier to get shot...

I love my Matt Baker figure.

    Too many ammo dumps.

I love the ability to use 3 squads but it was completely underutilized.

The new tactical map is nice but The Old one was more fun and made the game harder. I think you could combine the two in this way. At first display you use the "hell's" style. But as you click on individual enemies and friendlies it shows a real rendered view of what you are looking at in the "RTH30/EIB" style.

Instead of the seemingly random weapon selections before the mission, I would rather have a "load out" with a maximum capacity.

I love the fact that you now get a sidearm.

Should have Iron sights from cover. But the Crosshairs don't bother me much.

    Multiplayer:

only one gamemode? That's a head scratcher. And even if you only were going to include one gametype, at LEAST make it a deathmatch type. I think the best MP system would have been to go with a Return to Castle Wolfenstein type. With objectives like capture documents, plant explosives, etc.

Having the K43 in the game(SP or MP) at all I think is completely ridiculous. Not quite as ridiculous is the non-inclusion of the K98, Grease gun, over use of bazookas in MP, and excessive tanks.

And about the tanks, they shouldn't be in every mission, period.

Needs a chat interface in the browser.
Needs Server names, not just a listing of map and host.
Needs a favorites list, friends list IN game.

Honestly I hear a lot of commotion for a dedicated server but it's not necessary with the amount of players on PC. But I would improve the admin options for hosts.

    HELMET BUG!!!!!

No semi-auto should be a sniper rifle. I know they actually were used but the Soviets made the most use of them and they aren't in the game. Garand sniper variants were more common in Korea if memory serves.

Overall even with the problems it was well worth my 50$ but I think it easily could have been much more. Also to qualify everything I just said, I never read previews, or reviews, or interviews with gaming magazines. So I had no idea what was "expected" from this game. All I know it what was delivered from my perspective with no outside influence. Those "outside influences" are hacks anyway.

Most important thing i can see right now is adding dedicated servers to enhance the MP experience. W/O dedicated servers this games MP falls behind many other games. I see its potential, but things must be done in order to reach that potential.

I lied. I did pick it up again and got to the train station on the second floor. Here are some things I have not seen posted here. The Germans are able to shoot you even though you are behind solid cover ...you can't do that, you can cut down a wooden fence but can't put one hole in a wooden desk, they can shoot around corners, they can shoot even after taking three shoots to the head and the blood fly but you can kill him with one shot to the shoulder, they know exactly where you are even though they have never seen you. You can't depend on the tactical map because you could be right on top of an enemy and it does not show him. You throw a nad and make sure point of impact is away from you and it will come back half the time. There is one guy that is shooting right handed and all you can see is a small part of his left shoulder and he is at approx. 70 degree angle from you and you know he is shooting into a brick wall but he will kill you every time. Guys, I'm in hopes that someone in design will monitor these post and come up with a better game because of all the problems that you have brought to their attention. Back to COD

    My Feedback to BIA:HH :

Hell what a game, this is how I expect a game to be. It doesn't feel like your in a game, it feels like you're in a movie like band of brothers or saving private ryan...it's amazing. You did a great job on the characters and the story, I really enjoy playing since road to hill 30.

Unfortunately I'm stuck on the black friday cause I have an asus eah4870...well, **** happens and I hope the next patch or driver update will solve this problem soon.

I wonder if you'll bring out some tools like an SDK or such, maybe this question is answered somewhere here, i'm just looking at the forum first time Wink I'd like to see more stories, maybe make some own...

keep up the work and this game just kicks ***!

    Easy fixes for Multiplayer:

    1. Add dedicated servers for Multiplayer. That will get more people interested in playing it. As of now i see about 5 servers up and only 1 that is close to being full. And two of them are just extremely laggy.

    2. Allow server admins to kick players.

    3. Once you are dead, you should not be able to communicate with living members of your team. Admins have to tell players not to reveal where enemies are etc because it ruins the game.

    4. Push to talk function for VOIP. Too much static or unintentional noises caused by mics.

    5. Prone position.

Easy Singleplayer fixes (besides obvious bugs n what not:

    1. Germans need grenades Smile As much as i love killing them, it would be more challenging to face them when they got nades too.

    2. have a seperate command key for throwing squad members' grenades. ive seen my squad throw grenades before, but i can never seem to order them to do so when i want.

    3. Enemy tanks are so easy to take down it is disgusting. They dont even attempt to drive away from me when i charge up and plant explosives...let alone shoot at me.

    4. iron sight function when coming out from behind cover and aiming down the sights. you could make this an available option over the slight zoom if some players wish to still use it.

    5. PRONE POSITION

    ---------------------------------------------
    More complicated Multiplayer fixes:

    1. Adding more gametypes. At least give us the traditional player+AI vs player+AI that you had in previous games. I was expecting this because it was in the games before, but i found it gone. That is a must and honestly doesnt seem that complicated to do, but requires some effort. (You could also more easily add a TDM without any objectives)

    2. Either release new Multiplayer maps or allow players to create their own custom maps like in the Call of Duty series. This will keep the MP component of the game alive longer because it allows us to tackle new environments

    Harder Singleplayer fixes:

    1. AI needs some work. The Germans, as mentioned before, don't use nades. More importantly, they dont play offensively ever. It makes it too easy for the player to move around and destroy them. They barely react to flanking either. Even if i dont attack, they just stare at me and run in circles for a few seconds. If they see me, they should bolt for new cover.

This was Operation Market Garden...they won, not us. The AI's defensive structure really ruins the feeling that this was a losing battle. This would be hard to change because it would really be creating a new game within a game. But i can only pray that they do this.
