so I bought this game and when I start it up I get a black screen. I hear noise but just black screen. My driver was just updated today so that's not the problem. My questions it can I play this game with a radeon 9800 pro card?

Unfortunately, you can't run it with that card. That's a shader 2.0 card. You need a SM 3.0 card to run this game.

Supported video cards at time of release:

ATI X1600/1650 - 1950/HD
ATI 2000/3000 series

nvidia 6800/7/8/9 series

All with at least 128MB VRAM

You can also run the game with the ATI 4000 series and nvidia 200 series cards. Don't forget to install the latest drivers. The drivers that come on the disk are usually outdated, so I just download them directly from ATI or nvidia.

Since you have an older card like the 9800, you will probably just have an AGP video card expansion slot, and there aren't many shader 3.0 cards around in AGP format, most are for the PCI-Express x 16 slot, so you'll just have to look for any of the range of models listed by videogames10 that will fit your computer.

You may need to upgrade your power supply though, in order to met the needs of a newer card.

@jtie2009
I have a 4 1/2year old Alienware ( full tower case ) with an Asus motherboard that will not accept any higher than AGP format nor three Gig Ram max. Also running an under size CPU ( for this game BIA HH ) which is a AMD Athlon XP3200+ @ 2.19 Ghz. I'm running 2 1/2 GB Ram with only 3 slots ( 1 Gig--1 Gig @ 500 mhz sticks ).

The video card is Nvidia BFG 7800 GS OC @ 256 MB AGP with shader 3.0 and needs a minimun power supply of at least 400 watts with a 20 amp 12 volt rail (more power is better though ).

I run a 680 watt BFG power supply with four 12 rails @ 20 amps each. ( only one rail needed here for AGP as the PS will also run PCI-Express motherboards. )

Card will accept both CRT and LCD monitors.

My Graphic card is the largest ( for a Nvidia card that is, not sure about ATI ) video card that will handle AGP for this mother board.

The only problem that I have in BIA HH is at the very begining of the loading screen for it hangs for about 2 seconds ( big deal. Roll Eyes ) The game runs like clock work otherwise and I've never had any type of crash, some users have crashed at the tower with snipers. I may have that location wrong but still I have not had any crashes and I have played the game through twice now @ 1280 X 720 resolution with a 19" wide screen LCD monitor.

After about an hours playing some times I will check the cards GPU temp and I've never seen it ove 53 degrees C. Normal idle temp. is 46/47 C. at a room temp of 72 F. controled degrees year around. CPU temp. never exceeds 48 C. But then again I have a full tower with 10 fans running.

Not to sure but you can probably buy this card for about $150.00 USD or less ( if you are running XP AGP? ). But remember you need the power to go along with it. Smile
