I dont know if they can keep going with the 101st and 502nd airborne divisions after Operation Market Garden, because is there any more significant battles faught by the 101st and 502nd that made a huge difference in history?
If there still is room for another game with Matt Baker and Joe Hartsock, then i guess this idea wont work till maybe 4th BIA or 5th.. idk
But anyways, i think they should follow the 1st Infantry Division, 29th Infantry Division and the 5th Rangers fighting at Omaha against the german 352nd Division. This could be a very intense, brutal, horrifying, and emotional part of the game... well start of the game.
I dont know if they would be able to do the whole "8 days" thing like in BIA now, but i dont think taking a break in time would matter too much. Would be cool to fight at omaha, then fight through Isigny, then through the Bocage towards St. Lo crossing Elle River. Or maybe even follow the 106th in the Battle of the Bulge.
I dont know, all i know is whatever they do will be great!
I do like the idea of the main character goign through the whole war in Europe - agree with Raccoon about the whole brotherhood idea, and therefore the coninuation of present characters story would good.
However it would be nice to play BIA from the perspective of a soldier from a different nation, namely Britain. Whether they should stick with the European front is debatable, but in many ways it offers the best for tactics in general, with varied terrain/ enviroment.
ANd BIA offers really the only chance of the Enfield rifle being done properly, all other games make it identical or too slow firing when compared with other bold action rifles - just me being picky and a perfectionist BUT it is that attribute that makes BIA games in general brillaint!
One of these days, someone should invent a game in which the player choses the sides and uniform. Then the player can mix and match.
Sarge...I heard some GREAT things from you about BIA but this latest one is not one of them. All a soldier has on the battlefield is his uniform to tell friend from foe. If it was a civil war maybe...Mixing and matching uniforms wouldn't matter. Mix n Match? I disagree...uniforms should be a mandatory standard.
I would deff love to see more of Matt and Red. But if they wanted to make a change it would be nice to see the Big Red 1 in action. This is off topic but in PCGAMER issue 154 Nov, page 20 it said BIA:HH is coming out in Nov true or not? if not someone give them a call and get it right.
"Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway will be the 3rd entry in the Brothers in Arms series of video games. It will see players reprise the role of Sergeant Matt Baker, a soldier of the 101st Airborne Division, during Operation Market Garden in the late stages of World War II. Gearbox has set its sights on a March 2007"
March 2007...
well, who knows... i guess we have to wait for Gearbox to announce it themselves on the website or something
What I'd like to see is some static defense. Something where you have to hold a position for longer than the tail end of a long mission and then get shelled and stuff to an obscene degree. That would be cool, to be in a foxhole while the 101st gets the sh1te pounded out of it by artillery.
I also imagine that the visuals would be able to do justice to what Band of Brothers has already set the benchmark for by then.

You miss understood my comment. I don't mean chose uniforms that don't match the side you are fighting on. I mean chose Allies or Axis first, and then the a uniform for the side you choose. If you choose Allies you choose an American uniform, Or British or Canadian etc. If you choose the German side, you choose their uniforms(regiment, branch, rank). It would make WWII truly international, and give the gameplayer a chance to play the game from two opposite angles/directions.
Turn back time to 1936-1939 and tell the story about a few of the men in Reds squad and how they fought the fascists in Spain. The next BiA should be about the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in the Spanish Civil War ...that's where it all began!
i didnt read all the posts but i gotta put this out there if no one has already said this, and if any has said this plz dont tell me i really dont care, "If Gearbox makes another WWII game not following Red or Baker then it will most likely NOT be called BIA. And im sure Gearbox can make up a few battles if they need to to create another game to continue the saga, CoD did it an is still praised by some morons to be authentic
I don't care what they call the game ...they could call it Comrades in Arms (CiA). I just don't like game developers who bet on the same old horse over and over again. Break new ground, do something new - tell us new and challenging stories instead of the worn-out old fairytales. ...it's called "developing". Why do so many game developers have the same "good american vs. evil german" plot in their game? Because it's the easy solution! But it's getting boring ...Play us a new tune and we will dance again!
agree wit nestor, the thing wit german vs. american is gettin borin.
Oh btw did the ordinary german soldier have feelings??? I think so.Was the ordinary soldier a murderer? I heard in sum situation the germans helped the americans or the brits.Go read Sven Hassel's boox.Unfact if im writ, the germans, and i mean the ordinary soldier was ordered by its superiors to kill.If not,he was shot by its own guys.
the next should be with germans, italians, canadians, russian something wich wich is new and orriginal not like the standart german vs american but i would like it allot to see myself play as a american and kill a italian or an allie next to me wich is dutch, belgian, french, canadian, britisch and all off the other country's who joined the allies
it all has to do with marketing IMO, i think any game dev wants to create a quality title but i they would also like to sell, personally i could care less about germans during WWII an about ther feelings and the classic good vs bad sells more, go make your own twisted nazi game, you know it is possible, if you want it sooo much
