As a lot of you may already know. If you downloaded Far Cry (pre-patched to 1.40) from Direct2Drive you are probably gonna have problems starting the Sandbox editor. From what I can gather this is caused by a corrupt 1.40 patch to the Direct2Drive version of Far Cry.

Why don't they fix this? I guess it's all about liability. Whoever admits to the problem is liable to fix/compensate for the problem. Somebody isn't willing to do that, so you the customer are out of luck.

My friend just went through this deal and had no luck...until I came up with this solution.

I have the Retail DVD version. It is patched up to the latest Build 1405 v1.40.

I copied all the files from my "bin32" and "Editor" folders and gave them to my friend to overwrite his version.

Presto! ....it now works for him.

Nice, but what you have done is highly illegal in distributing the files for FarCry under the EULA.

I am sure thats a hacked version of the exe as it doesnt ask for the DVD to be inserted and is completely the wrong size (baed on the UK version, which isnt that different to other countries)

Yeah I figured someone would say that

I'm sure selling a flawed product that can be easily fixed is also illegal.

Also, this game has come to the end of it's lifespan with Crysis hitting the shelves in September. The benefit to letting these files be implemented is that those who downloaded the flawed Direct2Drive version can now get familiar with the Sandbox editor before the new one comes out.

As for the .exe. The File was taken from the Unprotected ITALIAN version of the game. It's not a "hacked" version by someone or some group.

And lastly, ..these files make it work.

Sorry but Clivey is right, and posting that link is a violation of the terms of use on this forum and of the game EULA.

If direct to drive are distributing a faulty product then people need to complain to them.
