did you download the Cumulative 1.4 patch or the stand alone one? You need the Cumulative patch if you're installing from version 1.0 far cry.

Actually, I purchased the game from www.direct2drive.com which has the latest build already applied to it, so when you install it it has 1.4. I was just saying my build of the game is update to date

FarCry doesnt seem to be on the list for download on that site? Anyway, Critical Exception screenshot are pretty much useless as UBI nor Crytek keep a Database of the Stop Errors and what they mean. In your main FarCry folder, you will have a editor.log text file. Upload it to somewhere and post the URL to it. This will help us more than a CE Screenshot. Dont copy and paste the log here as the file is massive!

fyi... direct2drive is not very helpful either... they are passing it off to UBI. they wont even tell me what version of the 1.4 patch they used... but i used a benchmark utility i found on the web HERE and it stated something along the lines of 'ver. 1.4 pre-release,' whatever that means. DX HERE

If its the 1.4 pre-release you have, that means its the leaked buggy version that's 9 months old. The version you have downloaded isnt the official update and for such a company to distribute/charge for leaked unofficial unsupported updates is disgraceful I would go back to direct2drive and ask for your money back or have the ability to download 1.33 version and install the official 1.4 patch. One way to be sure is to check the date of the scripts.pak file in the FCData folder. It should say it was created on the 4th August 2006. If its a date before that, then afraid your in for a long arguement with direct2drive. As for passing it off to UBI or nutella's "is someone looking into this", the answer is no. The only people that have helped the FC community, are the FC community and forum moderators. UBI staff haven't shown their faces since the game was launched, actually they werent here then either.

I tried your solution of changing the value to "10030" and my sandbox editor still doesn't work and still keeps giving me the "Critical Exception" error when I start the editor.
I bought the download version from the Ubi store.
Anyone have any new ideas of how I can fix this error?

Well I called the Ubi help line for this "Critical Exception" error and they said its because my video card is too new and doesn't support the editor. Grrrrrrrrrreeat. Then they proceed to tell me that even though the game is working fine it going to crash on me at some point. OH even better! lol. Anyone have any solutions?
