right so i started doing this today now i have followed the instructions thing, but when i get to the bit about the red replace me, i dont have those i have just a blue map im very confused and nothing seems to be happening when i paint stuff please help

You need to create some texture layers first then go "file > generate texture"

If the resulting terrain texture is still blue, change the "Environment" settings (ambient colour etc.)

To use a texture layer for painting, unclick the "auto-generate" box...
